  1. I'm as big a fan of Brees as anybody, but I'm not gonna go trade two 1st round draft picks for the guy.
  2. It's not a question of whether or not someone can or can't, but whether or not they choose to, and whether or not the things they do are within the rules set by the board. Perhaps, in this case, they considered it funny. I know I did. Because I saw a NASCAR post on the football board and was like "WTF?!" Shoulda known better. The response was humorous. Someone even makes fun of soccer, a sport that I played for a number of years, but it didn't really bother me. It was an interesting dialogue... the point of the internet message board, as I see it. At that point, I had a choice to: a) post a response about soccer continue the rant c) post a response to the original intent of the thread or d) ignore and move on AND, there's nothing saying that people can't ignore the angry rants and post on the original thread subject. By making an issue of the bashing, then it becomes a thread about people's need to bash other sports, like this one has become, to which I am now contributing. But, then again, it doesn't really matter to me. I've unintentionally de-railed and killed enough threads to have gotten used to it by now.
  3. 1) Don't post it on the football board (the location before it was moved) if you don't want it bashed by people who don't like it. 2) It's a sports message board, which means it's a place for a bunch of yahoos to post all their own mis-guided theories and opinions. Stuff will get bashed. People will get their feelings hurt. Life will go on. I chose to post a reply here. I was not forced to by the content of the thread. It's all optional.
  4. I have a big problem just accepting that students aren't AWARE of the games, and then excusing them for not going. If students aren't aware of the games, then this university, and its basketball team, have bigger problems than anyone here can imagine. That's an Athletics Department issue.
  5. Savannah State averages less than 500 people per game. I never said the attendance issue doesn't exist. My point was that the foundation of your statement was weak. You responded, as usual, by mis-interpreting what I said to make an easier argument for yourself, and then spend your time arguing against things people don't say. We SHOULD out-draw Savannah state, on average, but there's no way to make a concrete statement based on two non-comparable games. The fact that Savannah State outdrew us on one night, successfully illustrates nothing. Our attendance that night alone should be able to stand for itself, and it does. So why make a point about Savannah State, unless you want to draw MORE attention to an 0-28 team than it's already gotten on ESPN and the like? All you have to do is say 900, less than a thousand and we get the picture. Savannah State is a non-issue. But, knowing that we CAN draw 3,000, and that 900-someodd is well below our own average, the issues presented Monday night aren't consistant ones. It's like taking those Thursday night ESPN football games and using those as an example. You knew when those were scheduled they would be badly attended. That's why the games that have the lowest likely attendance are the ones that need the MOST promotion. Giveaways or whatever... I dunno, I'm not a promo guy. There's an attendance issue, but what's the cause? Whatever it is, it's not something that'll be cured by 600 different threads on how bad attendance is.
  6. Another logic fault... "Straw Man" to be exact. What I was pointing to is that you're comparing one of our worst attended games to their best. The simplest way to make your point valid would be to compare our average attendance to THEIR average attendance, but since that would likely lessen the relative strength of your argument, you'll simply continue to put words into my mouth and argue against issues that don't exist. Yes, we SHOULD out-draw them always, but, as I said, your comparison isn't a good one, because you're comparing a poorly attended one for us to a highlight game for them and one which has been mentioned in the press. If you're jealous of Savannah State, all you have to do is hope the team goes 0-fer next year, thus earning you a wonderful ONE-GAME of attendance for the year.
  7. Exactly.... what's Savannah State's attendance average? Their last game was probably their highest attended game in years, for all the reasons you stated. SOme people went to cheer them on to finally win one, and some went to see some History. If you wanna do what Savannah State did to get the attendance, then go right ahead. Pray for an 0-fer next year, and we'll probably have the best attended home finale ever. So, at any rate, pointing to Savannah State's record-making performance is not a terribly good way to compare. It's a logic fault.
  8. You all need to grow up.
  9. How is it a "hypocracy" to hate on TO because your team has a loud-mouthed receiver? It would only be hypocritical if you defended or liked that loud-mouthed receiver. I didn't want Me-shawn in Dallas, but, as Coach has stated, he's pretty much been a good little boy and done his job since he's been here. TO cried when he didn't get his way, and the NFL let him go to Philadelphia, where he was the final piece in their.... continuation of a legacy of choking. It's always about TO, and then TO cries even more when people call him out on it. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
  10. And THERE'S the difference, and what TO fails to realize. Yes, we'd call Brett a warrior because he's not ME ME ME all the time. If he were, we'd say the same crap about him. TO gets treated the way he does because he does the things he does. If he didn't act like such a phenominal ass all the time, he wouldn't get treated differently. Congrats, TO, you're the boy who cried "Look at ME!" We're talking about a guy who whined his way to being in Philadelphia.
  11. All I have to say is AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Take it, Philly.
  12. seems about right, though, when you consider.... you know... they're about the same education level as Philly fans.
  13. Okay, changing the angle of the beak and adding more black isn't gonna make cardinals, or the Arizona Cardinals, any tougher. There are few weaker mascot/logos than Cardinals. It's a bird, and not a very scary one at that. Wild Turkeys are certainly more frightening. Pigeons will at least crap all over your car, which gives them an edge, but a FREAKING cardinal?!
  14. Either way there will be a riot in Philly.... and either way, no one will notice.
  15. wouldn't be a bad idea for a pep band. not for singing, but instruments... barring that, kazzoos.
  16. Exactly. Before I know it I'm three more seasons in, thinking "Wasn't there something I was supposed to accomplish, like eating, sleeping, going to work?"
  17. Def. XBox only. My cousins play it on PS2, and I feel myself growing older to it.
  18. New Mexico State's Playbook, Option Run, 70% run I think.
  19. Ok, I have an entry. The first year after I won the Nat'l Championship with Texas State, I wasn't happy with my QBs. Not that they weren't good, but the best guy I had was one I knew going in had super poor discipline. Not good news when your #1 is gonna spend half his time on the bench. One person mentioned going to Mean Green hell for playing as SMU, well, expect to see me there, cause I'm running a variant to New Mexico State's offense with Texas State. At any rate, I needed a fast QB with an arm to throw the long ball. No dink and dunk here, it's run run run BOMB. Josh Huggins, QB (ATH) 6'2", 242 lbs (as a RS-Senior) He was a 3-star athlete out of Lake Jackon, TX with 4.3~ speed who wasn't particularly enamored to play for a Nat'l Champion, probably in part because I had a fairly young stable of QBs, all with solid abilities. Luckily, I hit on his interest in our playing style, and four weeks later he was mine. His ratings as a RS-senior: OVR: 99 THP: 91 THA: 92 SPD: 90 (oh yeah) AWR: 86 AGI: 90 ACC: 92 CTH: 70 CAR: 65 JMP: 87 BTK: 78 So I red-shirted him a year, and he sat for a good portion of his RS-FR year behind the incumbent, until he got suspended, naturally. From that day on, it was all Huggins. I set the bar for him at 1700 passing yards and 1000 rushing yards, which he blew to smithereens his junior year, when he threw for 2132 yds with 29 TDs, 4 INTs, and rushed for 1165 yds with 15 TDs on his way to every imaginable award, including the Heisman, as well as a championship. Then I coaxed him back for one more year. His senior year, he had a QB Rating of 180.5, 1848 yds, 25/6 and rushed for 1314 yds and 22 TDs. Yes, he had more than 20 TDs passing AND rushing that season.
  20. I'm only praying that it's a smokescreen on the QB situation, though. I fear another season of the type of whiskey consumption this last one required could do some permanent damage. I hope that we can give up on QB reclamation projects. That the following happens: 1) Romo (whom I like just fine) gets sent to NFL Europe, blows, and is cut. 2) That Henson looks like either a) crap or the second coming and most importantly 3) The Cowboys go defense defense but surprise everybody with a Kyle Orton or Charlie Frye or the like (as long as it's not a reach). Now, I recgonize Tuna wouldn't start these guys right off the bat (and possibly never), but in my mind, maybe one of them could be starting by mid-season, when we're once again looking ahead to next year. That, and you can use the 'experience' excuse with a guy from Eastern Illinois and an ex-baseball player. But I think we could run him out on a rail if he neglected to use a bigger investment.
  21. Agreed. I still can't stand Soriano. I think his offensive numbers are relatively hollow. Of course, I'm a little biased towards guys with OBP and defense, two of Sorry's worst categories.
  22. It's a 50-50 shot it seems, from the dynasty. In that, I mean, each dynasty seems to have a 50-50 chance of getting an invite. Sometimes it just won't happen, and it seems random as hell. I just won a Nat'l Championship with Texas State. Got ridiculously lucky with a bunch of top teams losing 3 games. That, and I'm able to beat some pretty stout defenses with a weird option attack. I only threw for 40+- yards in the championship game (went like 4-17 with a senior QB... yeah). Still no conference invite, but I finally got an actual awesome recruiting class. EDIT: My 2nd Nat'l title got me an invite to the Big 12.
  23. Def. my favorite game. I took Rhode Island as a I-A independent, and eventually got moved into the MAC. Two years later I got an offer for the ACC and politely declined, because I would've gotten myself handled there. Right now I've got Texas State as an Independent. Hopefully I'll get an offer from an actual conference after this 1st year.
  24. You have no proof to back up either of your points. You say that black athletes have proven themselves superior to white athletes, but, with absolutely no evidence, suggested that the same is not the case for white coaches, but that, instead, it's racism. The only statistic you've used is the one I turned around to show it's logic faults. I am using your logic. You simply have failed to make your point effectively.
