  1. Not including our blowout losses.
  2. We've attempted some short/medium passes. Many of them have been wide open. Meager has missed almost all of them.
  3. Well, if it had to be anyone, I'm glad it was Troy, who's had a pretty decent team, at least by SBC standards.
  4. Complaining about the defense after tonight's game is like complaining about a hangnail when you've got a gaping chest wound. Our defense isn't that great, particularly on the line, but the offense is ABYSMAL.
  5. Dancing a jig that Hart is gone, but I'm not really sold on Daniels.
  6. We don't have the luxuries that UT has. If they went 0-fer this year they'd still be better off than us as a program.
  7. now you're just being silly.
  8. Kansas State - 37 North Texas - 7
  9. And these plays are nonsense in our offensive scheme. You only throw those little passes when they're playing off and respecting your passing game. When they've got nine in the box and playing your WR tight, throwing a screen pass or a swing pass is a negligible gain waiting to happen. It's counter-productive to our offense. We HAVE to be able to hit wide receivers down the field to make them pay for playing it tight. If your QB can't PHYSICALLY make the throws, then you're in trouble to begin with.
  10. No, we will not compete. Luckily, however, we don't have to worry about those expectations actually being placed on this team.
  11. Way to give out our entire gameplan!
  12. Losing to the Redskins is like losing to your 8-yr-old sister in HORSE. There's just no cure for that kind of embarrassment.
  13. Actually, he was asked a question about them before one of the bowl games (maybe last year?) and said he really didn't consider them a problem, or something like that.
  14. I think this is actually part of the problem. They have designed plays just to get the guy completions. They're these little dink and dunk plays that at best go for 4 yards, and he's not been very good at them so far. However, even if he were, these type of plays DO NOT FIT our offense. The idea of our offense is to run until we get them creeping up, and then hit them over the top with a receiver one-on-one. It's not working right now because: 1) The defenses are playing risky. They're blitzing on the PA right from the beginning with the understanding that our young QBs don't have the experience or ability to make them pay. 2) Our running game isn't getting on track. and 3) As mentioned in (1), our young QBs don't have the experience or ability to make the reads and the plays. These are, of course, just my Sunday Morning Quarterbacking, and could very well be wrong, but that's how I see it. The only solution to the above is, I believe, TIME. We simply have to be patient with the young guys. It's gonna be a struggle this year. I'm not ready to get rid of The Buick, however, for any of the above. I have more of a problem with the drive-killing penalties and indecision from him than I do the actual outcome of the game. I didn't understand putting Phillips into the game with his back against the wall at the time, and then NOT playing him once the game had gone sufficiently into blow-out, so there'd be less pressure. It just didn't make sense one way or the other.
  15. Yeah, he had a great game today.
  16. and only on the least challenging days.
  17. Time and money.
  18. Now surprised that we are blowing OOC, but 40 points down to Tulsa is a bit much.
  19. Yep. We'd be doing a lot better without those.
  20. our offense is looking pretty bad.
  21. Monroe is a BEAST!!! Tulsa snapped over the punter's head. SAFETY, North Texas! 2-0 good guys.
  22. Holding penalties killing a drive in Tulsa territory. Cobbs has had some HUGE runs brought back. Started as 1st and 10 at the 28. Now 3rd and long at midfield.
  23. No. We are giving them the appropriate amount of credit. They are a solid team.
  24. The problem with his response is that at no point in his article did he base the title that the supposed "we" (more likely being HE) had bestowed upon us at the DRC on the merit of arguments. Partly, it has to be because we fall on all sides of every argument, which is why discussions take place. His attempts to point to us as maintaining some kind of cohesive belief system is simply wrong. "Throw the ball" was more popular when I was a student at North Texas (prior to 2000). The chant doesn't really come out that much anymore, and it's certainly not one of the bigger contentions of this board that Dickey needs to overhaul the offense. However, we still don't win OOC games regularly with this offense. As people have stated, it will work against equal or lesser talent 99% of the time. That doesn't mean it's bad, but that's why some people have tempered their enthusiasm for what we've accomplished. As far as the MTSU game - during our run of domination, THAT GAME was in many ways our SMARTEST played. We are KNOWN as a team that racks up a lot of penalties and have, in the past, given opponents extra chances and allowed games to be much closer than they should. This is a valid concern for people to have. Ethan simply is not a very smart or talented writer. Referring to the board as the "Idiot Board" is one thing. Introducing it as a title in an article without a strong argument for it simply points out the obvious - jealousy is an ugly thing. His response bothers me more than anything, because, again, it shows a hypocritical smugness for someone whose article appears to have COME FROM the "message board school of journalism." He's a high school beat writer for the DRC, which is somewhere just above having your own "myspace." Whoopety-doo.
  25. Seems they didn't appreciate my incendiary tortillas.
