Anyone get the impression Eric Pegram
Monkeypox replied to WIFE2HOT4U's topic in Mean Green Football
He wouldn't be diving straight into D1-A football. He'd be diving into the Sun Belt, which is more like jumping into the kiddie pool feet first while wearing floaties. -
I hope nobody would seriously consider him for OC at this juncture. I think he's a no-brainer for an RB coach here, though.
-
I don't think people really understand how much of a handicap the travel costs in the WAC would've been for us.
-
oh... SNAP!

Luckily, Dickey and Flanigan have done their part to keep rampant tortilla-tossing under control.

6600 to 8800 LB Dually Truck on NEW TRACK?
Monkeypox replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
"The ambulance (Medic 3) involved in this incident was a 1995 Type IIIa ambulance body that was installed on a 1995 cutaway chassis with an automatic 7.3 liter turbo-diesel engine. The gross vehicle weight listed for the vehicle was 10,500 pounds." http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/face200305.html I believe I would defer to the firefighter on the weight of an ambulance. A police car weighs much much more than your normal production vehicle. They have heavy-duty suspensions, axles, radiators, etc. that all contribute to the weight. An ambulance is bigger, and has to have all of the medical equipment in it on top of all that other stuff. I'm pretty sure ambulances START at 6000lbs. -
start him as RB coach and assistant recruiting coordinator or something...
-
I think HC is the only way to go, since he's an assistant HC at UT. It's the only possible move for him that wouldn't be lateral or a downgrade. I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned Chambers, though, as he remains one of the most underrated coaches in the state and a perpetual snub for HC interviews. If one were to going to make a case for the lack of minorities in head coaching positions, he's your poster child. The only difficulty would be prying him away from Mack Brown's hands. That, and should UT finally get to the promised land, he might start to get the notice he deserves.

Who would you like to see win the SBC?

Why? I WANT better, but I don't expect it. This isn't the NFL. We're not gonna get high draft picks for being terrible. We're getting outrecruited in Texas by ULfreakingM right now, and you're worried about TCU? One thing to note, as has been pointed out here, and is a good indicator of why we haven't gotten a lot of verbals yet, is that many of our recruits have lists of: BCS BCS BCS UNT (offer) We'll get the ones that don't get offered by those BCS schools. That's how we recruit.
-
1) This list appears less accurate than rivals. Coffman is one of the top athletes in the state of Missouri. I think he's a marginal 3-star, upper 2-star recruit. 2) Did you really expect better?

Ditto on Weathers.

DD and RF both played QB at Div. 1 U's (sorry, I'm easily amused). Bruce Chambers. That's a name I'd want on my list. Graduate of Dallas Carter high school and North Texas ('82). He was a 4-yr letterman as a WR (also track and field). BIG-TIME Texas high school coach for 14 years at Dallas Carter (1983-1997) before moving up to the University of Texas, coaching running backs (1998-2002), tight ends (2003-2005), and has been a KEY player in recruiting (currently recruiting coordinator) for the Longhorns. He has also served as an assistant head coach and director of UT's High School Coaches Clinic. He'd be a tough pull given his current situation, but I think he'd be worth it. Hopefully we'd be able to play the North Texas card, and the fact that it would be a head coaching job with nowhere to go but up. Immediate upgrade in recruiting, and he's coached some very good running backs at a high profile job.

Find where any of the "haters" said it would be peaches and cream. Of course, by some of your definitions, peaches and cream means having a team that can only beat the Sun Belt, in which case I'm pretty sure we could get "peaches and cream" enough years to make you all happy. It's easy enough to please the low expectations crowd. Some of us are willing to take a risk in order to move this program forward. If we can't win 50% of our games while playing in the worst conference around, we're only treading water. As for Davie, the only problem with him is that he was basically run out of Notre Dame. I don't necessarily think it was fair, but there's some animosity for him and a belief that he hasn't always gotten the most out of his teams, especially as an in-game manager. I think there might be some better bets for the price, if you can lure them away. Still, I think it's all a moot point. I don't believe Kansas State will hire Dickey.

OR, you could make no mention of their talent level, especially if all you're going to do is lie about it in order to use it as an excuse.

FLLANIGAN TO LEAVE NT, DON'T KNOW IF NOW
Monkeypox replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
DD's offense actually had the option, though, which is about the only way to trick people if all you're going to do is run the ball. -
Just curious what does Mike Price at UTEP make?
Monkeypox replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
bump... -
Except for the fact that their conference is actually considered TOUGH for their level of competition.
-
What?! No way... that's unpossible.

You have some pretty low qualifications for the words "success" and "progress." Hey, I decided to drop out of my regular classes and only take remedials. Now I'm in the 90th percentile of my class! I'm a success! And I'm making real progress, too! The first year, I couldn't figure out a bubble sheet, but neither could just about anyone else, so I was still one of the top in the class. Since figuring out the bubble sheets, though, I'm the best remedial student... at least most years.

Dickey bitches because he's not a very good coach and lacks the ability to take responsibility for his and his team's failures. It's always "FIU is a very talented team," "we had a difficult situation," "our guys play with a lot of intensity out there, and I don't think the penalties are really a problem." If we are, as you say, at the same level with the rest of the Belt (which many of us agree with), then Dickey hasn't done LOTS OF GOOD for this program, because it's right where it was 10 years ago and nothing has changed, except for forming a conference comprised solely of the worst Div 1-A football has to offer. I will support my program how I see fit. If people like you were around when I was in school, we'd be happily churning away in Div 1-AA. Some people want better. But, fortunately for you guys, when DD runs this team back into the ground and we end up back there, you can talk about how awesome it is that we can beat McNeese State 7 times out of 10. By the way, you won't get the better stadiums, more tradition, better conference, more fan support, more donor support, more media attention, more loyal students/alums, etc. unless you start beating something more than the Sun Belt. Until then, you're treading water.

Wait til you hear my head coach thoughts. That's one I actually DO have a specific name for.
-
All other things being equal, I don't care about height. All other things are not equal, however. If we still ran the option... maybe.

Darnell (their OC) did coach a pretty prolific New Mexico offense under Franchione.
