Rick Villareal Should Not Be Allowed To Hire Our Next Hc
Monkeypox replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
No matter how sick you are of hearing it, it's reality. Our chances weren't likely zero, but 0.5% or 0.35%, somewhere in that range. Maybe RV was hoping that when he interviewed those guys, a big time donor would magically appear and offer to pay their salaries. The only shot we had is if NONE of the places these guys interviewed offered them jobs. Again, Iowa State, Tulane, Stanford, North Texas interviewed Harbaugh. Fisher was a successful coordinator a top program. At least the Glanville stuff had some legs, because he was coming back to the game after a hiatus and ended up at Portland State. I mean, we could still probably get him, though I don't know how much good he'll be. He's not exactly setting the world on fire at PSU. And they actually pay him less than we do Dodge. -

Yeah, Harbaugh was gonna turn down the big bucks to play in the PAC-10 so he could come here to a bottom-of-the-barrel Sun Belt school, but RV made his coaching choice based on the opinions on this board. If they don't want to come here, which they didn't, then you don't really have them to choose from. -
Harbaugh interviewed at Iowa State, Tulane, North Texas, and Stanford. We came in fourth.

Shhh.... you're not supposed to wake people when they're sleepwalking. -
They were stealth fireworks.

This board needs an enema.
-
Ahh, so you'll support him no matter how bad the defense is because he has PROVEN in the past he can be successful? Gotcha. Defenses results of 2009 don't matter. Continue to ride on the sweet memories of 2002-2003.

I'm not angry at DeLoach at all. I think he needs more time. I think Dodge does too. But many here on this board have been angry at Dodge since Day 1. And they were angry at Mendoza in year one, and at least he had the excuse of being a high school coach in over his head. But very few, if any, of those same people are angry at DeLoach. Or will be. Ever. He's just as responsible for this awful defense as he was for the few years of good ones he had in the 00s. I just ask for consistency. People should be calling for DeLoach's head and saying "no excuses." And this isn't the Indy 500. That was Western Kentucky putting up almost 50 points. That's Troy, Ohio, Ball State, ULL, etc. That's more like the local weekend warrior track.
-
While I don't think we need to get rid of DeLoach, I think it's pretty hilarious that no matter how atrocious the defense gets, he will always be given the benefit of the doubt. The current years at our alma mater count just as much as his previous years. Right now, grading out his career, he objectively can't be very highly regarded. His defense just gave up nearly half a hundred to the worst team in the country. I think the "no excuses" crew from a few years ago might have to go and make a "unless you're Gary DeLoach" amendment. The guy isn't getting it done right now.

Somebody shoulda told Western Kentucky our defense was improving.
-
C'mon, we're up from that 119 area to the 111-117 range. Thank jeebus we only had one real body bag game this year.
-
I was here for DeLoach's first tenure. But this isn't 2002. The last two years, his defense has been terrible here. I just remember I kept hearing the "no excuses" two years ago, but since DeLoach was hired, there's been nothing but excuses. We're not "pretty bad." We're abysmal on defense - 111th in total defense. 117th scoring defense. Now, that's up from last year, when we were DEAD LAST in both categories. Of course, we only had one true body bag game this year, unless it's time to start counting Troy.

I would show you a bunch of dried, hollowed out banana skins with FIRE DODGE painted across their chests, but I used them to make bananadine in the hopes of clouding my brain for the rest of the season. The rumored hallucinogenic effects of smoking banana peels, however, appear to be mythological. The hallucinogenic effects of eating 9 bananas in just over an hour, on the other hand, need further investigation.

For Those Who Have Been Knocking Tune
Monkeypox replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
After seeing what we have, I'm personally of the opinion that we don't have anyone who would play QB for another program at this level. Arguing about which of them we should play is, IMO, pretty futile. 1) the decision has been made and 2) it just doesn't much matter As for those comparing this to Hawkins, I remember how some here were regarding Hawkins as the great example of how a coach can turn a program around in a short amount of time not too long ago. -
Just MILES from your doorstep, hundreds of men are given weapons and trained to kill. The government calls it "the army", but a more alarmist name would be - "The Killbot Factory."

So you want to waste a 3rd of one of our money games on firing someone whose replacement will come in and start another rebuild? That's why it doesn't make any sense. We're recruiting better, getting more fans to games, and making more money than we were during Dickey's last years. Oh, we're not winning any more? Well, guess what? It's not going to happen no matter WHO you bring in at this salary level. So people just need to accept things for what they are. Once we can become a laughing stock bottom-feeder with MONEY, then we can make these kinds of decisions. Until that day, however, learn to deal with it. Also, I don't think using that kind of leverage is what you want to do when trying to convince another coach to come here for peanuts.

Is Td Able To Evaluate Talent ?
Monkeypox replied to houstonmeangreen's topic in Mean Green Football
NOTE: DeLoach will always get a pass here, based on a couple of seasons 6+ years ago. I mean, one of the statements bandied about last year was that Dodge wasn't LETTING DeLoach do his job. Now, the defense is improved, and it's due to DeLoach? Dodge must FINALLY be letting him do his job. Since this thread is mostly about talent evaluation when it comes to the QB, and offense vs. defense, and came after our most recent loss... How many of those drives that they got in our territory came off of turnovers from the QB position? -
yep, you always know what you're gonna get.

Rangers Hitting Coach

Rusty's from Alabama, so maybe he knows a little Mississippian. -
Yeah, sadly I see them as roughly the same thing.

Higher premiums for many than the insurance they can't afford or get denied for. Thanks, but no thanks. These risk pools are a joke, and I know from personal experience. They are required to charge double-premiums by law. They're great if you've got a SEVERE condition deemed too high risk for an insurance carrier, but if you're denied for something like Irritable Bowel Syndrome by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (which DOES happen), then you simply don't have a choice in the matter. These are for people who would die without treatment. Not for people with pre-existing conditions who can't get coverage because they've got a different job and minor but long-term illnesses.

1) Only if his shirt says "I didn't come here to loose" and 2) Why do I get that scene from Tropic Thunder stuck in my head, only it's "Someone said there was a moral victory?"
-
I think their loss to us will just look that much worse.

20-7. It appears we've already gotten our win for this season.

This game sucks hard.
