  1. I didn't blame him for the loss. If anything, I blame the coaches for being unable to utilize him in any way to make a difference. ALL you had to do was read the thread. I posted a fact about the game. That is all.
  2. Riley Dodge: 4 touches, 9 yards.
  3. Turnovers and execution killed the O. Big plays killed the D. Special Teams killed everyone.
  4. Too many Tuneovers.
  5. QB is ALWAYS one of if not THE hardest positions to replace. Given the unique skillset of Booger and his impact on the defense, he's probably the only player I would've put above Hall in that list. Finding the right QB for a team is a major challenge.
  6. I usually get "don't you think that's a little inappropriate for this Quinceanera?" Then I tell them that 1) I don't know what a quinceanera is and 2) If I had, I might've worn pants. Then I think maybe they're talking about the lack of pants. Then I make pants out of toilet paper in the bathroom. Then I get kicked out of the Sheraton. Point being, people are intolerant, and I still wear it.
  7. Smoak was a stud prospect. The Rangers may not really have gotten an ace. That remains to be seen. Only twice previously in his career has Cliff Lee had seasons approaching ace status. Very efficient, but very hittable.
  8. Yeah, as long as he keeps a team in 1st place, I honestly don't care until the league does. BUT, I'm gonna make fun of him solely on the basis that he claimed it to be a one-time thing he tried at 50+. It's insulting to expect me to believe that. It reminds me of a time when I was out in LA and a model/actress star of a TV show would regularly cost us half a day because she couldn't remember her lines. One day she says "It's not that I can't remember my lines. I just can't say the words," as if her inability to grasp English as a first language was somehow better than being forgetful. Experimenting at near 60 years old? Doubtful to begin with. Add in being a manager of a professional sports team and it's just stupid, even if it WERE the truth.
  9. I consider a half-season rental going all-in. Smoak was a top-20 prospect, and there's a reason he was the player Seattle wouldn't do the deal without.
  10. See, I have plenty of questions about the team. That's why I'm not super high on the rental of Lee. And yes, much of their record is propped up on that win streak vs. terrible teams. I just think they went all-in a year early.
  11. Depends on the team he signs with and other factors. If it's the Yankees, you end up with like #30 and a sandwich pick. I doubt he re-signs here. I'm okay with this trade but not ecstatic, bc it doesn't do anything long-term and I have doubts about the Rangers this year. It's a half-season rental, and our two starters behind him are a guy who pitched last year in Japan and a guy who pitched last year in the bullpen. You downgraded at 1B long-twerm (as Smoak was a true blue-chipper), with little contingency plan, and traded Beavan, an underrated prospect who just got through dominating AA at 21. Love that JD got Lowe in on it. Overall, I like it okay for right now. But I was happy with the Rangers season already. It actually makes me sick that JUST NOW some people are getting pumped about a 1st place team that's been playing dynamite most of the year.
  12. Yeah. I hate the Molina trade. Not because we gave up anything great, but because we didn't get anything meaningful in return. Molina at this point in his career is the definition of replacement level. I'm hoping the guy gets crazy hot to finish out the year, but I'm not holding my breath. Great at blocking and calling a game, but his arm isn't the threat it once was and he doesn't have enough pop these days to cover for his ridiculously bad wheels. And honestly, if you're going to make win-now moves, you need to actually upgrade at positions.
  13. The 6-7 Hawaii. I guess that win over Washington State was a bigger BCS arse-whooping than I thought. Haven't been a player without June. What was Fresno, 8-5? Beat Illinois n got their business handled by Wyoming. Again, haven't done much in the last few years. I'd certainly have trouble making a case that these guys were kicking butt. As long as we're re-making the WAC in dream scenarios, at least play like you've got a pair: WAC East: Texas A&M TCU SMU (personally think we should reject them from our megaconference, but if you don't talk about SMU at least a couple of times a day, some people will shrivel up and die) Arkansas North Texas Louisiana Tech LSU (just for good measure) People are like, you know, just rejecting the WAC in its current formation, but I'm sure if the WAC made a division with these teams, North Texas fans would probably be cool with it.
  14. Troy is one of 3 Sun Belt schools that have exemptions for APR, due to being "low resource" institutions.
  15. Allen is a Robin Hood school, meaning they've been collecting tax dollars from other local cities (like Plano) to pay for all the necessary school upgrades, etc. Thus, the reason they can justify the spending (bond or not) is that all of their academic necessities have been paid for... by someone else. Thanks, Plano!
  16. Pretty sure we all are.
  17. Not me. I had horrible cramping and my nipples hurt, and my girlfriend still got pregnant. You don't wanna know what Plan C is.
  18. And he doesn't. I made no statistical argument between the two. You asked if 303 was enough, making a straw man reference to Riley. But to the point, Tune doesn't have an appropriate sample size. You've made nothing to counter that argument except to say that he's thrown the ball 1/3 the number of times Riley has, which only serves to prove my point. And you are incorrect. Your own numbers actually point to exactly why. He played in only 1/5th the number of games. And only threw the ball 1/3rd the number of times. Tune didn't even play 1/3rd of the season, and you want to make a statistical comparison, which is ridiculous. Also, he's a senior. I would honestly at least respect the Derek Thompson idea because that's one that could pay off for more than a year. If someone really wanted to make a statistical comparison, an easy and interesting one would be one of Vizza's seasons to Riley's first. Those are at least CLOSE in play time.
  19. Where did I say anything about 303? Do you see me making a statistical argument? What I'm saying is clamoring for a senior with limited experience to start based on a statistical argument is silly to me. He doesn't have stats on which to base an argument. We had to pass the ball more when Tune was in because: a) if he had come into a game, we were usually already behind. b ) he doesn't have the legs to run the ball himself, which cuts down on the rushing attempts (and limits the offense) c) two of his starts did rightly come against our toughest competition, and there was little choice. My point has always been that I don't know who the best QB on our roster is, but that it's honestly not my biggest concern after seeing the offense we run. And I'm personally of the opinion that we likely don't have "that guy" on the roster anyway. That, and everyone always loves the backup. Both Tune and Riley's QB ratings are pretty weak, TBH. Sadly, still better than Vizza/Meager ever did. If you're changing QBs at this point, he HAS to be the difference between 2 or 3 wins and going to a bowl game, because you're putting in a guy with no eligibility left, so you get to do it all over again next year. It better be worth it. The only teams that get by without having long-term consistent starters are the occasional BCS teams that have 3 and 4-star backups. They groom them, get them a couple of years to start, move on. We don't have that luxury. I mean, if we don't care about sample size, then Derek Thompson!!!! He's 100% completion rate, 20 yards/attempt. 378 QB Rating. He's perfect. Okay, I probably shouldn't stir the pot, since people will come in here riding those numbers.
  20. 100+ attempts is less than 3 games. Closer to 2 in the spread offense. I don't think that's anywhere close to an appropriate sample size. And, honestly, I don't care about the competition when all you did was play a couple of games. Sorry. Everybody loves the backup. And by no means do I think that Riley is a definite answer.
  21. I believe he moved to the defensive line his senior year. I think he actually played on both sides of the ball as a senior. He was a backup TE and even played some FB, but most of his time was spent on the defensive line.
  22. That's where I was. I like the quality of the recruiting class, but not the distribution, given our positional needs.
  23. Yep. That's an exciting prospect. The size and wingspan and athleticism to play a legit OT.
  24. I think partly the lack of response regarding what appears to be another solid recruiting class is due to the fact that the football team has done very poorly, and people just don't want to get their hopes up again about another "good class." They've seen it before. Yes, the class looks good, but most here are at the point where they will save their enthusiasm until we start winning football games.
  25. I've never understood the love for The Ticket, but I think that's part of the decline of actual compelling sports talk over the last decade or so. At some point the "personality" got bigger than the analysis. That's why you now go to a Sports Talk station and hear guys yammer on with inside jokes not related to sports for 10 minutes before plugging in your ipod. And anytime you feel like your listeners need a nickname, it just comes across as masturbatory (by both parties).
