What UAB Fans Are Saying About What UNT Fans Are Saying
Monkeypox replied to AustinFromUNT's topic in Mean Green Football
It was actually that your list of problems is also our list of problems. 3rd down, special teams, depth... see any of the 36 UNT vs Iowa Game Threads. -
This is probably the only time in recent history that I trust the backup.
-
Dude could've gotten called for holdig Guyton on the TD, too.
-
Guys need to settle down.
-
Nice throw by Shanbour.
-
I guess Littrell figured this crew was so good he wouldn't have many opportunities to challenge.
-
Wtf.

My ulcer!

4th and 1 we should be going for it in this game. Every time.

Ball was tipped. Bad call. Doesn't matter, really, though. We're doing enough on our own to lose this game. The refs aren't making these playcalls or pushing players in the face or making mistakes on special teams.

Iowa is listless. Our inability to make them pay is frustrating.

Official Iowa Game Score Prediction Thread

44-17 Iowa. -
We did some great short yardage work out of the pistol vs. Lamar. I wonder what the difference is in SMU and Lamar...
-
I could probably have posted this in any number of threads this evening. I didn't watch the SMU game. I've just yet to see anything that indicates we're much different than we've always been... on the field, recruiting, or administration. We can continue arguing all the finer points, I guess. But I've run out of patience for that. That's why I go to games like Lamar. And why I don't make that much from drubbing a FCS school coming from a hurricane-ravaged area with minimal practice time and a whole lot of bigger things going on. And why I can no longer give a damn about SMU or any of our "peers." If a tv show had been on the air for 20 years, and been a terrible show for most of that 20 years, would I still get pissed off when it's still terrible in Season 21? Why? I know it's a terrible show. Give me more than 5 wins. Give me more than ONE winning season every once in a while. Give me a win against a program people care about. Until then.... ... same Bat time, same Bat Channel

Just 7 more TDs and they're right back in this.

Frank Wilson appearance in Recruiting Violation Testimony

KFC is. -
I'm still not a fan of the eagle logo on the helmets(love the wing helmets though), but overall these are the best uniforms we've had since I've been around, IMO.

I don't know if the majority of our fan base is distraught, because I'm not sure we have a fan base. If the people who still follow the program aren't: 1) Active students 2) Recent Alumni 3) Masochists Then I think labeling them as "distraught" is okay, but it's still not really the right word. I'm not overly positive about the program, but I'm hopeful enough that I still buy some game tickets every year and expect us to be competitive. Still, I wouldn't be surprised at all if we got beat by Lamar in week one and went on to win 2-3 games. I also wouldn't be surprised if we won 9-10 games this year. The only thing that would surprise me is if we went undefeated or had multiple winning seasons in a row or beat someone that mattered. And I don't mean "Cincinnati" matter or "SMU" matter. I mean it has to matter somewhere outside of our current fan base and tiny bubble of caring about North Texas athletics. I've seen just about everything else. Most people from my era of school (late 90s) don't care anymore, even those that like football. They're not distraught, though, because they've never really been given a reason to care. UT fans and alumni are distraught, because they went from a powerhouse that everyone talked about to an also-ran. I think to be distraught, you'd have to have been in a better position than you are currently, and we really haven't.

Can I be in some kind of weird, logical middle ground, where I don't allow myself to call anyone who hasn't coached a game here a "home run" or praise an AD one year in, while still feeling generally optimistic about the direction our program appears to be taking? I mean, I like our recent hires and our direction on paper, but without major strides, I'm not going to get a Wroner about anything yet.

'18 QB Jason Bean (Mansfield Lake Ridge)
Monkeypox replied to GMG24's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Yeah it's amazing that player ratings change when kids all across the country get more offers or have offers pulled or commit to schools or decommit or perform at camps or tear ligaments. It's truly mind-blowing that kids aren't rated after their junior year and then locked in at that rating despite anything that happens before signing day. I can't think of any reason why a system like that wouldn't be far more reliable than one that changes. -
North Texas 2017 Offensive Line Assessment
Monkeypox replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
And then he got banged up. And then Morris was 4-11 for 13 total yards with a pick. Thank god we were good at running the ball last year. -
Moore is 99-for-99 in extra points at North Texas
Monkeypox replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
If Morris had been our kicker, he'd have been 100 for 99. I'm gonna say never. I don't have the stats in front of me, but as a whole, NCAA kickers are nowhere near as accurate as the guys in the NFL. There's honestly not enough guys you can count on to make 30-yd field goals consistently. People would lose their shit. -
DRC: Lake Ridge QB Jason Bean commits to UNT
Monkeypox replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I believe it's because stars are relative and points aren't. IOW, as time has gone on, you'll find that the criteria (points for each star level) is rising. So, as more kids below get more offers from bigger schools, their number rating goes up, so does their ranking, so does their star rating. So, if you were the #1, 5-star recruit with 32 big time offers in week one, and 65 dudes got 33 big time offers the next week, your number rating would stay the same, but your ranking and star rating would drop, because you got jumped and having 65 dudes ahead of you would drop you to a 4-star prospect. Hope that makes sense.
