  1. Both conferences have backup agreements. It's up to the Bowl and the conferences. CUSA negotiated theirs first, so there was no mention of AAC in theirs. The Bowl's current solution is set up to alternate, but obviously it depends on outcomes. Last time, Tulsa was chosen, so it was supposedly CUSA's turn around. However, with the extra bowl tie-ins the AAC has, I don't know if they'll come up as often as CUSA (who has fewer primary and secondary agreements), if only for location. Independence would love to just pick between La Tech and USM in this situation. I was also told that North Texas' CHOICE was The New Orleans Bowl, but it was likely the smart move (as they took the bird in hand). The situation (as relayed to me) was that had UNT won the CUSA Championship, they would have been no-brainers, but the committee was pulling for Southern Miss vs Marshall because that was the Bowl's preference. So our loss and USM's win are what put us where we are. I had to INFER that UNT jumped on the NO Bowl before the Independence made their invite, which is disappointing, but they also read the tea leaves correctly.
  2. Because FAU struggles with butts in seats.
  3. Had nothing to do with FSU not wanting to play them, IMO. Had everything to do with the fact that FAU has zero traveling fans. Bowls want butts in seats, and FAU struggles to get that in Boca.
  4. All games are winnable and all games are losable. That's why you play them.
  5. They are always high around the holidays two weeks out. Also, didn't we usually know for sure earlier back then because we didn't have bowl options?
  6. I had 5 people willing to go with me the Shreveport. New Orleans is too soon and too much travel cost. For my crew, time is easier to get during the Holidays than money.
  7. The problem with this is there aren't enough FAU fans to be dismayed by it. If there were, they'd be playing in Shreveport.
  8. I guess instead of wanting improvement for our own program we can just want our competition to get worse. But if you want that solution, there's a home in the Sun Belt and FCS.
  9. Two Stone Cold gifs in one day? Well, your prayers are always answered in the order they're received.
  10. I hope our coaching staff wrote that down... that's some Confucius/Dr. Phil Next Level sh*t right there.
  11. Hire a stand-in. Just get someone of your approximate height, skin tone, and hair color to sit through that dreadful thing. If they find out, your family will forgive you, because they have to. It's their thing. I can't say the same for the Mean Green Family. I mean, who would you rather disappoint? 1) Your parents - You've very well likely already disappointed them numerous times, and will probably continue to do so throughout your life. Despite that, they seem perfectly fine keeping you. 2) The Mean Green Faithful - You've seen what happens when these people get disappointed, and it's not pretty. They don't forgive anything. Wearing black, making an anatomically incorrect eagle sign with your clumsy human hands, sitting or standing when they want you to stand or sit.... nothing is forgiven... ever. Without a familial obligation to forgive you, I shudder to think of the potential consequences. I mean, remember Eppy? No... no, you don't. No one remembers Eppy. You don't want to end up like Eppy.
  12. He's transferring because UT phased him out at RB and moved him to H-back. He wants to compete as a RB. He's from Rockwall.
  13. They were just standing around. Embarrassing.
  14. Nothing. Nothing happened in 2005. We went to the New Orleans Bowl in 2004. And then nothing. And then we won the Heart of Dallas Bowl in 2014. And then nothing happened again. And then last year we went to the Heart of Dallas Bowl again and now we're awesome.
  15. Distinct lack of asterisks. http://www.nfl.com/history/randf/records/indiv/passing Records are records. Yes, the context under which they're set has meaning, but you mostly only hear this argument from someone who is stuck on the record from their particular generation, ignoring that it was also set in a different context than what came before. The game will continue to change, and records will be broken. That's life. I don't think the people who accept that are un-informed, and nobody here was around when the first records were set.
  16. Harrell threw for 5700 yards and 48 TDs his junior year, and there was no campaign and he wasn't in the running. His senior year, Tech launched strong campaigns for him and Crabtree. Harrell completed 70% of his passes for 5100 yards and 45 TDs (only 9INTs). He also played the final regular season game with two shattered fingers, and was on his way to breaking the TD record. He came in distant 4th in voting and wasn't invited to the ceremony. We're not in the Big12, so just consider what it took to get Harrell attention and then think of what it would take to get it for Fine here. I'm not saying NO, but I don't think his numbers this year would justify a campaign next year.
  17. El Diablo... it's like Spanish for like a fighting chicken.
  18. Good Miami-FIU Brawl. And that's from 2006.
  19. But is he the next Seneca Wallace?
  20. Don't worry, guys, I've got a pretty solid plan to take care of this. As soon as my lawyers get done drafting a re-negotiated buyout onto this football, I'm gonna get Seth to sign it.
  21. Hacked.
