  1. Does our OL seem to get better as the year and their time in the program goes on? If not, it's a coaching problem. It can ALSO be a recruiting problem, but late in the season we're competing against CUSA, not the SEC, so I don't think it's just a recruiting problem when the line is getting manhandled in their last game of the season against 3 and 4-man rushes.
  2. Regardless, did anybody see Reeder's offense from before and think that's what we got? Did anybody wonder why we didn't get that offense? I know I did. There could be any number of legitimate reasons, including players not meshing well with it. I don't know.
  3. That's been the general consensus. Peterson believes in more work/life balance than is generally afforded to professional coaches. Reports are that he's simply worn out.
  4. Lol. At your JOB, you have accountability, because your ass is getting paid. A consumer of a product or an investor of a stock has no responsibility to keep buying something that isn't good or increase investment in a company that hasn't shown it's capable of growth. Smear that BS somewhere else.
  5. There was a game in the late 90s at home... either 98 vs Nevada or 99 vs Boise, I think. It was 40s and raining. They were giving out free t-shirts to the first 200 fans or something. My gf and I went home with 5 of them. Band and a few pockets of fans at Fouts. I remember because we stayed and we stayed because we won.
  6. So he goes from an $8k check this week to a $28k check.
  7. It depends on what Guyton's expectations were, IMO. I mean, he's currently making $8k a week in the NFL. Without knowing what his goals and motivations are, it's hard for me to say he would have ended up any different or better with another season here.
  8. I think the opportunity to move up in FBS has passed us by. And sadly it really happened before Littrell got here. We really haven't gone anywhere since I started school in the 90s. The improvement in our facilities and game day experience and salaries and whatever haven't happened in a vacuum. They have to be measured against the whole of FBS, in which case we're still about 100 steps behind. The only difference between where we are as a G5 now and where we were in I-AA is our level of delusion. Nobody cares. And we haven't passed any of the schools we needed to pass for positioning. When the reckoning happens, we are getting left behind again by the 50 or so semi-pro programs that people care about. It is what it is... UNT Athletics.
  9. Don't worry. None of the bowls we are ever in actually get national exposure.
  10. In 1995, I believe there were less than 20 total bowl games (18?) There are now 40.
  11. Dallas cares about. 1) Cowboys 2-11) Big 12 12) P5 school of choice ................ ................ ................ ................ ................ 11ty billion) SMU (because 80s) ................. ................. The Infinite Never) UNT
  12. Mason isn't getting drafted, IMO. He had a chance, if we had been able to protect him and given him the defensive help to win more games and put up the kind of gaudy numbers he did in a few games this year. He would have had to be in the national conversation, both through wins and numbers. For reference, Minshew won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm award, broke Jared Goff's Pac12 passing yardage record, won 11 games, was the Pac12 Offensive Player of the Year, and finished 5th in Heisman voting. He went in the 6th round.
  13. I got the perfect guy for you. 66. Defensive coach. HC experience both P5 and G5.
  14. Yeah, this isn't a new thing. La Tech has had a better program than us historically for pretty much forever. Speaking of forever... Seth has the highest win percentage of any UNT coach since I was a toddler. That doesn't mean he's done a good job, though. In 40 years, our highest WP for a head coach is .500. When people think we're moving up in the world because of a couple of decent seasons beating up on the bottom of the FBS ranks, this is what I think about.
  15. If only someone were getting appropriately compensated to fix it.... You know, if we could pay someone good money to, say, coordinate all aspects of our defense, like, "across the board", we might really innovate at the collegiate football level. Just make a position on the staff, call it something like Coordinator of Defense. Until somebody comes up with a way to do that, I guess we're just stuck being terrible at defense.
  16. I recommend brown pants for the rest of the season. Coaching staff as well.
  17. Yep. "Customers should buy our garbage product if they want our garbage product to stop being garbage!" has always been the worst argument.
  18. How long was RV here?
  19. Yeah. Losing to SMU was disappointment. Losing to Charlotte mid-season in the manner we did is a whole other level.
  20. Could it? I mean, I know we say this all the time, but I'm at 25 years of this (much less than many) and I don't see it. We've NEVER had a season of national relevance. We've had one or two games EVER that anyone paid attention to. I mean, I guess maybe we COULD be a monster, the same way my nephew COULD be president of Earth someday, but I've seen nothing in his life to indicate that's a realistic path for the lazy turd. Our athletics, the "window to our University", is the "lazy turd nephew" of college sports.... except it's 100 years old. So, you know, I'm tired of hearing about potential. At some point, we have to show up in recruiting, winning, getting players drafted, making noise on the national scene. Unfortunately, I'm at a point now where I'm just gonna have to hear about it, because I can't keep spending my time and money on this stuff year after year. So props to those who keep coming back to this. It's gonna take a lot more than 2 decent seasons in a bottom barrel conference to get me back. I can't tell you why this season or this loss is it for me after so much garbage the last few decades. Just old I guess.
  21. 25 years. A quarter of a century watching UNT football run on a hamster wheel.
  22. They're stupid with the way they go for 2. They should just take delays until they get 20 yards out.
