Sarah Fuller - SEC Special Teams Player of the Week
Monkeypox replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Athletics
Vandy ran out of kickers due to Covid and doesn't have a men's soccer team. So, on MONDAY of game week, they asked one of their best athletes from the soccer team they DO have to fill in, in part because she was already under the athletics department's Covid protocols. What are people crying about here? You all keep track of the Special Teams PotW Awards in a big chart on the wall and think this taints that hallowed ground? The other Vandy kickers have still opted out/are in quarantine as far as I'm aware, so at the time they released the depth chart, they still didn't have anyone to kick for them except for her. They even said they were looking for others to help fill in, but there are still the Covid protocols to get through/around. I won't be surprised if she kicks for them again. I won't be surprised if she's replaced at the last minute. And I won't be surprised if she nails a couple of shorter field goals or completely whiffs it, as she has about a week-and-a-half worth of practice at kicking footballs. -
Idea for next year’s season ticket holder gift

Replica baseball field? -
Man, who could have predicted this? Oh right, everyone.

I don't think anyone needs to forfeit anything in this Covid season. But, UTEP was given an opportunity to play this game in Denton at OUR cost, and they refused. If this game can't be re-scheduled in December due to the situation in El Paso (because guess what, it's not going to magically get better over the next month or so), then it is UTEP's fault this game didn't get played. Oh well.

Pro Football Focus Top 100 Draft Board
Monkeypox replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes stats and route-running/drops hurt Guyton. Now, AS for Darden, we need to also consider that James Proche was close to 4000/40 at SMU, most of which came in his last two years. He got a Combine invite, ran a 4.40, and went to the Senior Bowl. He was drafted in the 6th round. It's absolutely possible that Darden gets drafted. It's also very possible he goes undrafted. The truth is when it gets down to this level with the draft/NFL scouting, we really don't know much of anything, especially this year. The only thing I know is the board consistently overstates the draft value and likelihood of our players going. I mean, I think Darden has the skillset to succeed in the NFL, and he easily beats out statistically a lot of guys who were late drafts/undrafted in the last few years, so that's one thing to pay attention to. Another is that I trust scouts to look at/see this guy's footwork and know and understand how unique and advanced his skills are there. -
Uhm, yeah. Is that not clear? As for fans, they weren’t going to be allowed at this game anyway. If Denton were in a situation like El Paso is, I think our fans would have a lot more to worry about than a home football game (just like many UTEP fans have expressed). Before the season, I already said I viewed ANY game played this year as a bonus. I got no problem with anyone who cancels or postpones games for safety precautions. I love having sports back, but a few football games here and there aren’t a big deal to me.

I mean, I haven't followed the career and musings of Dana Dimel all that much, but has he always been a bitch? They're setting up hospital beds in the convention center in El Paso, and this douche wants to talk about "validity". You'll get your forfeit the same day we get ours from Texas A&M.

Limiting to skill positions (so no Brian Waters) and in my lifetime, maybe Erric Pegram? I'm hoping Guyton can parlay being the "deep pass" guy into becoming more of a regular weapon in the offense. I know there's still some refinement issues in his game, so hopefully he can utilize the opportunities he's getting right now.

ANOTHER 70-yd TD!

Well, except UNT played the same defensive scheme last year (and one that's working well for a number of schools).

And we've missed it in some of these intervening weeks while we had a lot of LB out. This is what I was talking about before when looking at our depth charts and what we were putting on the field defensively. We just didn't have enough guys like these in our lineup. I think a lot of our more experienced guys are better suited for hybrid linebacker/safety roles, but we really had no one to fill out the JACK spot. If we hit on some of our recruiting, I think we have a lot of guys coming up who can fill that role. It depends on how they fill out, but Jacobi "Nightmare" Johnson, for instance, seems a perfect fit for that spot. If we end up with some 230+ lbers in the middle and strongside, I think we can actually run this defense really well. Another thing along our defensive line is we're starting/playing Ta'Shoyn Johnson a lot. That's a true freshman playing strongside end in a 3-man front. It's a tough task this year, and he's got a lot of work to do, but I think it will be good in the long run. He's a former Nose, so I could see him developing into that spot or at least becoming a versatile cog down the line. He's just been thrown in the fire and having to learn as he goes.

I agree it's weird. But I always thought it was weird, not just suddenly because Aune got pulled. I also thought it was weird that people here had so much conviction on our QBs based on such little evidence. For what its worth, I think we're going to see a LOT of back and forth in this crazy Covid season. This Team Bean/Team Aune thing will likely continue. I know what Seth has said before about wanting a starter, but I still haven't seen anything to tell me its all settled.
-
I mean, it’s YOUR thought process man. Seth was playing both QBs, and you were dogging one and stating preference for the other. If you think the thought process you exhibited was strange... own your strangeness.

I just like to read the headlines from SL press conferences and assume they are vague because it’s goes: Seth: “mumblemumbleAddawaymumblemblebackmumblemumbleUTEPmumble hope”
