Ehh, for those worried about teams leaving the AAC, they still have to have somewhere to go. Memphis is the only one I see likely to get an invite to another conference in the near future. I'm not sure what people think our options actually are, though, as far as "teams we wanted to play". Big 12 and SEC aren't inviting us any time soon. Have Tulane and Tulsa really been that high on our list? We already play SMU yearly, and even if they go, which I doubt, they'll still likely want to continue to be a non-conference opponent. And all our SBCUSA friends are still out there for scheduling as well. I mean, I would've preferred taking our nearest neighbors to the MWC as well, but AAC has a better current deal with better distribution, even with the massive cut they're about to take. You simply have to be aggressive and make the best move you can AT THE TIME. Aresco has done a much better job for the AAC than our conference leadership has done for us, so IF this happens, I'm on board. If you're looking for stability in the current or near-future college football landscape, prepare to be disappointed.

Seriously, it's been an ugly week for our program, and an ugly season for the most part. We MIGHT win this game, but if I had to put my name behind a prediction, I certainly wouldn't be like "MEAN GREEN WINNING BIG THIS WEEKEND!" And sure, I give Vito crap sometimes, though in recent years it's turned more to the running joke about his weekly predictions, but I honestly think he's pretty even-handed. In fact, I'd rather he be seen as more on the "negative" end compared to most beat writers, since there's a large number who just post fluff to increase or maintain their access. But I think if we looked back over the years, he gets accused of being too positive when we're winning and too negative when we're losing, which would really just be a reflection on what the team is doing... you know, basically doing his job by letting people in, particularly those who don't follow as closely as those on this board. So, yeah, I might still call him Bert from time-to-time, but I really appreciate his continuing coverage, particularly as I get older and become less of a turd (I mean, I'm still a turd, just not as big of one).

I don’t believe it’s going to happen. But I also don’t believe that a good portion of the P5 remains “P” in the future. There’s an alternate timeline where we don’t drop down or we support football/athletics appropriately when we come back up and/or don’t suck for 20+ years and absolutely we could have been there. But it isn’t happening now.
