  1. I think to this point (that we need to give Bloesch some credit)... Last 5 games against CUSA last year (5-0): Aune - 58/114 (50.8%), 3 TDs, 1 INT. He only threw TDs in 2 of the 5 games, and had 1 game with multiple TDs. 5 Games against CUSA this year (4-1): Aune - 76/128 (59.4%), 14 TDs, 3 INT. Multiple TDs in every game. I've been very critical of Aune, and will continue to be when he throws into the dirt or 8 yards over a receiver's head. I have been very critical of SL, and will continue to be as long as he fails to beat OOC FBS teams, win the conference, win a bowl game, etc. But our offense (and Aune) is actually functioning very differently than it did through the streak last year. I'm not getting terribly involved in the "Seth's past sins" or "what would it take" or "are we better than..." or any of that at this point in time. The next 3-5 games are going to have a lot of weight attached to them.
  2. Stats aren't accurate. He threw 3 on the game. They'll hopefully catch it on the overnight update. If you watched the game and read the game log... he had 2 in the first quarter and 1 in the 4th... Horton, Ward, Ragsdale.
  3. He played a great game.
  4. IMO, Aune's best game of his career. Everybody knows I've never been his biggest fan, but he did the job today. Hoping this game gives him and Littrell the confidence to keep going like this.
  5. No, I'm NOT doing the Hingle McCringleberry excessive celebration in the living room, if THAT'S what you're insinuating.
  6. Mostly through my fingers over my eyes.
  7. Gross. The gray looks like some kind of weird fungus is growing on it.
  8. We can’t schedule more FCS than we already are.
  9. If SL had left for KSU after two 9-win seasons, people would talk about how awesome he was here. That's what Rhule did, except Temple was solid under Al Golden (who got hired away by Miami, not fired for being a failure). And Baylor escaped without NCAA penalty, so when Rhule took over and went 19-20, it was with a bunch of Briles recruits and system. He left Baylor with a 19-20 record. Golden built up Temple. Briles built up Baylor. Rhule went to those programs and won for a couple of years and then jetted. Good move for him, and fine for those universities, but I have serious doubts about him as a coach. I'm not worried of him getting hired away. I'm worried he's just not very good and got lucky in his situations and timing. Rhule is 47-43 overall. One bowl win over 6-6 Vandy when he was at Baylor.
  10. Probably unpopular opinion, but I'm not interested. Even before the flameout in the NFL, I thought this dude was overrated. People ignore what Al Golden did at Temple before he got there, or that he left Baylor before establishing anything sustained or sustainable with his own recruits. He just smells to me like another Littrell, except he actually left after two winning seasons.
  11. Just part of the game now. Adapt or die.
  12. DD won conference.
  13. I know... imagine wanting UNT to not suck at football.
  14. He's had plenty of time. He needs to do something new. Either win meaningful games here or go steal some other school's money.
  15. Saying a coach can't possibly win 11 games tells me you don't think he's a very good coach. But I think that's a fair take. It's laughable for SL to win the conference and a bowl game, which tells you everything you need to know about him.
  16. No, I'm saying if SETH LITTRELL doesn't win 10 games this season, then HE is mediocre garbage, as that is the question asked in the thread. For THIS coach, who got blown out by SMU again, blown out by UNLV, was pleased to be on the same field with Memphis, that he has to do the things he's never done to prove he's NOT mediocre. He's already had 3 chances not to fail in that criteria this year... and he failed. I've seen UNT win 9 games in a handful of seasons over my lifetime. I've seen UNT lose to SMU like 80-90% of the time. I've seen us lose to pretty much every OOC FBS team since I went to school here in the 90s. I've seen us lose the vast majority of bowl games. I've seen us win few (and Seth NONE) conference championships. So for SETH LITTRELL, my bar is not 8-9 games, because I consider that an easy hurdle given the resources this program has (resources we didn't have for most of our history) and given the garbage conference we play in, and given the time he's been in charge of it. He would get more slack if he hadn't laid an egg vs SMU, UNLV, and Memphis. But that's what he did because that's what he is. As for the difference between .500 and 10 wins, it's not that much when it comes to SL. If he wins out, he goes 9-3 and then loses the championship game and bowl game (as is his standard), to 9-5. This makes him 46-42, or .522 for his career... 4 games over .500 with 5 wins against OOC FBS teams in 7 years. If he goes 6-1 the rest of the way, and loses a bowl game (assuming someone else goes undefeated in conference or we lose to the other 1-loss team), then he's 8-5... 45-43 for his career. If Seth does what I'm saying I'd need him to do, he'd go 11-3. This would make him 48-41, with a single championship and a single bowl win for his career. Certainly not shooting for the moon.
  17. Wait, it's insane to ask your coach to make you better than you were before he got there? So the only bar we should ever have is bad to mediocre because our program is historically craptastic? Sorry, but I don't think you're going to grow a program if the goal is a .500 record, rare (or no) conference championships, rare (or no) bowl wins. Yeah, that's our history, and our history is garbage.
  18. And Fine had a for-real QB coach who played much of his life in the same system as well.
  19. Win out, win the Conference, win the Bowl Game. Then I hope he gets hired away by some dummy and we use the forward momentum to get a better coach.
