I admit I am not the recruiting expert that some of our bb POSTING MEMBERS are but I am impressed with the recruits that JJ has committed. Point Guard Chris Jones Garland Lakeview HS, averaged 21.1 pts, MVP District, all state, but mainly we got his commit over offers from other schools Offers by Ark Little Rock, Army, Colorado, Hartford, UH, Indiana St Missouri ST, New Mexico, SMU, TCU, UTArl Small Forward, Jordan Williams, The Colony HS, 3*, 6-6, 190, national ranked # 108 Chose NT over offers from Arizona St, Ark, Baylor, Fresno St, Georgia, UH, Kansas St, Marquette, Miss St, OkST,So Miss. Point Gd Trey Norris So Garland Prairie averaged 16 pts and 7 assist, Offer by McNease ST, Minnesota, No AZ, Santa Clara, S. Dakota, SMU Pt Guard, Brandon Walton 6-2, 180, doesn't have the offers others had but he was chosen to attend an invitation only showcase in Tulsa for the nations top JC players. I note that NT loses two point guards from this years team I LOVE IT THAT Trey NORRIS AND CHRIS jONES CHOSE NT OVER OFFERS FROM SMU

I seem to remember a woe is us post caused by the coming graduation of our current DT starters: Shavod Atkins 6-2, 284 SDr. Kelvin Jackson 6-3, 284 Sr. One thing I have not researched is how much , if any...our other current roster DT's have played. I welcome anyone with that information. The same applies to any of the lower mentioned players. Otherwise I figure both players will be gone. Our current roster has: Soph DT Kyle White, New Orleans McDonogh HS, 6-2, 309 I seem to remember he was injured his freshman year s he could be or is red shirted one year with 3 years left to play Fr. DT Richard Abbe Lubbock Monteray 6-4, 300 don't know if he played, if not could be reshirted with 4 years to play. DT soph, Tevinn Cantly, Arlington Lamar...6-4, 336 if he hasn't played he would have one redshirt year with 3 years to play. Future prospects; NT has offers out to two JC DT's. DT JC Tony Gillespie, Coffeyville CC (3*HS) 6-1, 310 DT JC Sylvester Williams 3* Coffeyville CC 6-3, 310 Both of these JC's have major college offers but they still list NT..and the fact that our two starting DT will be gone, playing time potential might make a difference.

Don't know if this answers the question listed below or note. Link to TX FB mag committing fb prospects by Colleges/Univ. http://www.texasfootball.com/2011-pledges/ Someone raised a question on the number of football commitments other schools have made. The "BIG NAME" schools are beginning to get full....NT normally gets 5 or less at this time in the recruiting season. They will start coming (visits) to our home games, and we should see some NT commitments in November and December thru signing day. NT has usually been very active in "Late recruiting" off season.. Last year we lost 3 commitments who didn't qualify..4 replacements OG Flax(who has since moved on), SDE La Christopher Anyiam Allen HS (offers from AZ, Iowa ST, KS, KState, Oil bowl participant. , LB Sean January AZ CC, DE KC Obi who is now a starter. We also picked up 5 transfers,,,LB Julian Herron from SMU, WR Tyler Stradford from OU, WR William Cole from Cedar Hill signed with OK St, WDE Dewayne Baziel from from TT who is no longer at NT.

Does The Coaches Deserve Another Year?
OldTimer replied to ArkansasEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
YES I don't believe there is a coach in the USA who has lost 10 players to injury (most starters) and has had a winning record. I have never seen this number of injuries......will welcome our posters to inform us on this topic. QB Nathan Tune dislocated hip, Derek Thompson broken leg Centers JJ Johnson, Nick Leppo WR Greg Brown, Chris Bynes torn achiled tenden, Benny Jones DB Steven Ford, DaWaylon Cook, RB Michael Mosley I wonder if our fans can raise the money to pay for Dodges contract next year after he is "fired" and at the same time where will the money come from to pay for some of the named high profile coaches posters are suggesting. OldTimer -
************************** added: The link to Rivals NT showed player problems some of which i was not aware of: We know Tune left the game on a stretcher...dislocated hip JJ John O center out with foot injury both offensive guards lost Drake with a foot injury spelled by Coleman Feeley, Ayodale Adedipe went in for Esteban Santiago who was moved to right guard, TE special team member Greg Brown ...? out with torn anterior ligament..out for the season.. I believe there were other players out just couldn't remember others feel free to add players out with injuries.

NT held Rice to less 45 points from last year (77 down to 32) I see major improvements here. NT offense scored 11 points more than last year from 20 to 31 points. Now we see posters calling to fire Dodge...I thought Dodge wasn't calling plays that NT brought in Mike Canales who was to be our solution . Our players played their hearts out..we lost several players due to injuries before this game and had our QB taken off the field on a streatcher (sp?) I guess if we lose we ought to fire the players and give up on the football program. Was I disappointed...yes....do I give up no. There are two kinds of people in this world...those who are positive and support our players and team even in times when everything is not going great and those who are negative. I prefer to be positive. you have your choice on how you look at life...you are either positive or negative. Yes, I know there are improvements needed in certain areas, but that doesn't mean the world is coming to an end or that our players were not trying.

Please Read If You Were Ever In The Nt Marching Band
OldTimer replied to MeanGreenHoops's topic in Mean Green Football
I played in 3 seasons of the NT marching band, the ROTC band and (pep band ROTC) in BB games but that was 53 years ago and there's no way I could play even if I still had an instrument. But its a very nice thing to occur. -

quote "The 2012 committee also designated the UNT Coliseum would host preliminary men's and women's basketball games? Thought it was interesting Found this on the internet...sorry I didn't get the web address. (www.unt.edu/inhouse/august42000/olympic.htm -Cached-Similar) ....hopefully this will be an accurate source.

Did I miss info that NT signed their last 2010 commit or are we still looking for that transfer? The first two commits for 2011 look terrific....now if we could just get an inside player or two. Looking forward to another NT great BB year.

I made the comment that a 230 lb OL would probably not play based on the roster information of his weight at OL. It was based soley on the roster data. I have learned since my original post that Troy Kokjohn's position for the last couple of years was as a deep snapper. I want to thank him for staying with and helping the MG FB team with his ability as a deep snapper.
-
Early on it seems like we were hearing about a strong OL but woe is us after this year. Folks we have depth and size. The following 15 players, by year of elgible status taken from the updated FB roster. I doubt if Kokjohn will play because of his lack of weight...and we know that Gill is under weight but has evidently been able to do his job while playing. Seniors: Drake 6-2, 295 Gill 6-4, 265 Santiago 6-3, 320 Juniors: Jeremy Bean 6-5, 300 JJ Johnson 6-3, 288 Kokjohn 6-2, 231 Tomlinson 6-5, 300 Soph: Adedipe 6-5, 313 Feeley 6-5, 299 Forkenberry 6-4, 292 Franklin 6-5, 280 Freshmen: Johnson 6-5, 292 Leppo 6-3, 280 Noble 6-6, 273 YBarbo 6-2, 288 I like the size, I like the number of players and their height and weight and the disbursement by year of elgibility. This info came from the updated FB roster. We have already seen posts on gmg about the OL RG and LG 1st and 2nd team players which I repeat next and credit to those early on posters. RG 1st team Jr. Matt Thomlinson 6-5, 296 2nd team Soph Aaron Fortenberry 6-4, 292 LG 1st team SR. Kelvin Drake 6-2, 295 2nd team Soph Colemon Feely 6-5, 299 I look forward to the names of the center and tackle position 1st and 2nd players names. OldTimer
