ULM plays ULL on 10/26 and we switch ULM to 11/19 simple as that. Two big wins in a row for LSU as they get Appalachian St. in Baton Rouge Nov. 5th before reenetering SEC race vs. Ole Miss. We then have 3 home games in November and FAU on the road 11/12. Hope we remember that it DOES GET COLD HERE IN NOVEMBER and switch from 6 P.M. starts!!

Where will they play since campus facilities and Dome are ko'ed at present?

Interviews and video is great, makes me feel much better about opening of season. No whinning or excuses from DD just play what you are dealt. Great attitude all the way around. Bring on those MUTS!!!

Does NT Not Having A Game This Saturday Help Us,
DallasGreen replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Playing at LSU the first game carried a severe risk of injury, absolutely NO CHANCE of a win, would shell shock a young QB, and would have greatly demoralized the whole team just like the UT debacle. There is no downside to not having to have your butt kicked in the first game like ' Bama will do to the MUTS. If we were to lose which I don't think will happen, it certainly won't be because we didn't play LSU. We never learn however and starting with UT @ Austin next year almost guarantees a home opener like FAU last year. I'm sure the "Stangs can't wait for the date at Fouts against a team that has just had its head handed to it in Austin the week before!!!! -
The SBC should immediately begin working toward a tie in with Ft. Worth or Houston to substitute for the now defunct New orleans Bowl. Ft. Worth still has a tie in with C-USA for this year and the possibility of TCU doing anything in the MWC is very unlikely.

It was Arkansas on 9-11 who paid a portion of the guarantee, allowed us to schedule 2 for 1 with Troy, and gave us a game in Little Rock the next year. Not considering the loss of revenue, there is nothing but good that can come out of this as we would have had the snot kicked out of a young team ala UT '04, MUTS are an SBC team not SEC. Our backs have an opportunity for success against the MUTS vs. 0 chance vs. LSU. MUTS have only to look forward to one hell of a beating vs. 'Bama. While we come in rested, injury free, and better prepared. Take whatever $$ we can get, schedule SFA, TX St. @ San Marcos or some other local 1-AA at end of year and forget LSU, as we will get plenty of a whipping at UT to start ' 06 . Just hope that game doesn't give SMU the edge I think it will. ' 05 Tulsa & La Tech are the OOCs that count this year and SMU is HUGE in ' 06. Other OOC are just good if the check clears and serve no other purpose.

What are our options if LSU game is cancelled
DallasGreen replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
Don' t be sure that ULL will show for UT. If not UT would be more than glad to give us the same style whippin' as last year in Austin as a warm up for TAM. -
I agree that it is THE GAME in SBC play, but if we are ever to move on up the Tulsa and La Tech games carry equal importance. I do know that from the MUTS site that it is still scheduled to be televised on ESPN+. Does anyone know the DFW feed? 52, 27----? I plan to have it taped while out of town. See you all for Tulsa and hopefully finally a non-conference win against C-USA!!

A great story on General Forrest and his calvary is that his forces once found themselves completely surrounded by Union forces. When his subordinates asked for his orders he said " divide the force in half and charge in both directions" Not only did they break out but they carried the day.

In the immortal words of J.C. Matthews-- Never let the alumni grow too strong for they will constitute a threat to the faculty. This is the prototype of a faculty oriented President. If we get one of these the entire system steps back 50 years and we will soon be non-scholarship in the American Southwest Conference begging the DISD to use the Collins Complex. This is a crossroads for UNT. Let the regents know your opinion. The best we can hope for is someone half as good as Norval Pohl whose only criticism comes from a faculty that was used to business as usual and tenure based on years of featherbedding rather than performance. Heaven help us all if the faculty has great influence in choosing our new President as they just ran off the greatest UNT President to serve in my lifetime if not of all time.

A tweak to his shoulder, concussion, pulled hamstring, etc. after surgery for spring injury, and we haven't been through the first week in pads and no scrimmages. Anyone not concerned that this QB can hold up to a season of D-1 FB is really naive.

I was in Wichita yesterday Sun. Aug. 7th and KSU had already had 2 practice sessions. Snyder said they were the best opening practices since he has been there, and they would definitely surprise some people.
-
Isn't UT in the market for a new president? That would truly be justice served if it were to be Norval Pohl. UT would get the gold mine and UNT would once again get the shaft.

What is the Greatest Change During Dr Pohls Tenure
DallasGreen replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
I could not agree more. It restored a sense of pride in being from North Texas in that he always made you feel the best was yet to come. I'm sorry but I just don't have that feeling today. It is a very sad day for North Texas. -
Should be an interesting sight when the crowd from Carroll dwarfs the Denton crowd in Denton's own stadium. Just remember Ryan sent back tickets to Carroll last year which were quickly bought up by Southlake. Denton didn't get its title as sorriest sports in america for no reason.

As I have said before this was the one person we could not afford to lose. To those of you who weren't at the spring President's Council tour of the Athletic Center where RV outlined the progress of the dept. and the facilities programs, RV said "I attribute all this progress and our successes to one man--Dr. Norval Pohl". I have been through 6 presidents since I have been around North Texas and there has never been a one of them even half the man of Norval Pohl. Those who look at all through green colored glasses I hope you are right--personally I feel this is the blackest day at NT since the announcement to drop to 1-AA. I more strongly than ever feel that the announcement of the departure of RV will not be far behind. It is a well known fact that his resume is out there on the street as well. Amazing the power of politics--thank you LJ.

UNT/LSU Final Score and Stat. Predictions
DallasGreen replied to PURPLEKATS_03CHAMPS's topic in Mean Green Football
Just one question----- with far inferior facilities than we have today, lesser paid coaches, a smaller student body, a lesser populated region, and nowhere near the caliber athlete NT now has--why were we competitive against the so-called "Big Boys" then, but witness an embarrassing lack of competitivenes as we did at UT, BU, CU,and the New Orleans Bowl last year? If you can answer that one question it will be the first time I have ever been given a straightforth answer. Personally I have never witnessed a stadium or facilities win a FB game. It takes prepared, motivated players to do that. 0- 92 in two years at UT would seem to indicate we have neither. It's called PRIDE in your performance and leaving it all on the field and never quitting no matter what the score. That is all anyone can ask of any team. I have not witnessed that kind of heart from this team in OOC. -

Here's one, pledge class president fall of '67, initiated spring of ' 68, but consider and beware brother it's not popular with Bonita Jacobs to be a KA alum. It's just a shame that a few bad apples brought down the most severe punishment in the history of the NT greek system. You can look at the outlaws and drug addicts we've had in FB the last few years, but I saw no talk of a 5 year moratorium on FB when these were announced because all knew they did not represent even a fraction of our overall team. Also they had support from others in the athletic dept. How many KAs were on the tribunal that sat in judgement of the Gamma Lambda chapter of the Kappa Alpha Order---not one. How can you claim to know anything about a frat if you don't even have an initiated member on your tribunal? Not to mention the ill will with alums that was generated when the house was taken even though it had been built with outside alumni funds. I wonder how UNT legal ever managed to get that through as it was clearly an illegal seizure. The KA alums we lost and the $ KAs have given back to this university far outweigh the publicity acheived by outside agitators. This was clearly a UNT incident that needed to be resolved internally, and those that participated promptly expelled, but to punish the entire of KAO, which has produced such as distinguished alumni Jerry Durant, top all time NT QB Steve Ramsey, many North Texas Exes officers, cheerleaders, Talons, band members, educators, etc. is purely wrong and discriminatory. Those of you that know me know that I have many black friends and clients. Only the uninitiated put the stigma of racism on KAO. Personnally my initiation was probably one of the most meaningful religious experiences of my life. I feel the 5 year expulsion of the entire chapter was a blatant overreaction of UNT yielding to outside agitating sources. Let those who sit in judgement at least have walked in the same shoes as the accused. I know of no initiated member of KAO who approved of the actions of those few, but for goodness sake punish the perpretrators not those who have stood by the tennants of their Order and have been a fixture of the NT greek system since the 1950's. I would encourage the founding of a KA chapter of the North Texas Exes to get some of the successful KAO alums back involved in this university. -

I'll bet that out of towners in the West stands far outnumber Dentonites and that it will not change anytime soon. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it ( to challenge GE's past is past line). -

Didn't you use that same tired line to thwart criticism of Richard Bridges? If a QB has shown absolutely nothing what's wrong with saying so and giving someone else who might just work a chance? -
