Doubt there will be a telecast of UT game unless it was listed as a horror event. The blood letting will be much too brutal for young eyes as this may be the best UT team we've ever played and DD is 0-92 in his other two tries. UT will merely treat this "scrimmage game" as an extension of its Fall Camp, and experiment for the next week when the real season begins with Ohio State in Austin. The worst thing that will come out of this massacre is the damage it will do to the team for its next game against SMU. Oh, almost forgot that to DD and staff SMU is just another ho-hum OOC game.

These are the same students who kept us from having a new stadium and moving forward with the FB program in the vote of years past. If they are too poor to pay the fees ---GET A JOB!! You can sit in your dorm tooting your horn imagining the real world, but until you realize that is that degree that is going to follow you the rest of your life you'll wish you had taken some pride in the school from which it was received. UT and others don't even itemize fees , they just say pay it or be gone. NT should take a similar stance and maybe get some real college students rather than drag rat wannabies.

Talk to Barbara Sanders bsanders@unt.edu , the Director of Chapter Development. Also on the new on line community website www.ntexes.org you will find chapter events. We now have 9 chapters total including Dallas, Denton, and Tarrant County. We have tried unsuccessfully in the last two years to start a Lewisville or Lake Cities Chapter. We have an established procedure and chapter handbooks for various chapter levels. Contact Barbara and she can help, whether it be getting active in an existing chapter or being part of the process of starting a new chapter. I think you will find the involvement rewarding.

What do you Mean Greeners want....
DallasGreen replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
Many of us will have dirt turned on us before dirt is turned on a new stadium at the rate the campaign is progressing. NOTHING AND I MEAN ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WOULD BE BETTER THAN A WIN OVER SMU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too bad-----students, coaches, players & dept. doesn't feel the same. Ho-Hum just another OOC game to them. If we went 1-11 and the win was over SMU I would consider the season a success. -
After Bruce Bell retires after signing day, just how many NT past player types do we have on this staff? Don't tell me that there aren't any out there that aren't miles ahead of these-- Bruce Chambers, Eric Peagram just to name a couple not to mention one HS sensational coach who previously coached at NT, and I have been told would return to stay in the area--TD stands for Touchdown and also what this coach's offense produces plenty of.

This is no more true than the statement that Blakeley won with Robbins' recruits ( Kenneth Lyons as an example), but if you want to point to bonehead administrative decisions taking Jerry Moore over Bill Brashier and making Andy Everest A.D. had to be the all time worst. If we had chosen Brashier our whole defensive staff stays intact, and we might just have retained a young Bill Snyder as offensive coordinator. Blakeley was much more qualified to be A.D. and with his oversight Gales would have been able to continue to move BB forward. Probably the best opportunity for advancement of NT athletics of all time and the decision was left to the egg heads in their Ivory Tower. That's why Faculty control and leave it to " DA JUDGE" ---LJ scare the hell out of me!!!

I hope he takes it to heart when SMU comes to Fouts the second game of 2006, but as usual it will be treated as just another ho, hum OOC game by DD!!!
-
Where? I want some of that. 40 would look real nice on Sept. 3rd . I feel 70+ will be more like it. After all to DD, it's just another OOC game.

Maybe to the parents, but the kids never heard of him.

That's probably the saddest aspect of this entire last season. No other D-1A University Athletic Dept. would have let an Offensive Coordinator get away with the reprehensible conduct shown by RF. Apology or not attacking a fan is an automatic dismissal ANYWHERE else. I am deeply disappointed in our A D's lack of fortitude in handling what is quickly becoming an outlaw program. Players like T. J. Covington who proved to be nothing but a trash talking mouth with no game to back it up were the personality of this team. A head coach who is not only aloof to the fans, but a whinner using excuses ( Lack of facilities, lesser pay, youth, etc. , etc.) and attacking the fans verbally when he isn't just ignoring them has lead to a program that is only a 1-A pretender that will never be a contender under this regime.

DMN: Jerry Moore, former UNT coach in 1-AA Final
DallasGreen replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
YEAH BUT EVEN HE PLAYED UT A LOT CLOSER THAN DD (0-92). ONE COMMENT I SAW FROM JERRY MOORE MADE A LOT OF SENSE-- IF YOU CAN'T OR DON'T WANT TO FUND TO BE IN THE TOP 80 IN D-1 THEN 1-AA IS A BETTER PLACE. WE'VE SHOWN OVER AND OVER THAT WE DON'T MEAN TO FUND A D-1 PROGRAM AS A UNIVERSITY. IF YOU THINK THAT IS EVEN A REMOTE PRIORITY FOR LJ THEN YOU ARE NAIVE. IT'S TIME THE BOR AND WHOEVER LJ CHOOSES TO LEAD TAKE A LONG LOOK AT OUR INTENTIONS AND EITHER JUST DO IT IN 1-A OR STOP THIS CHARADE AS NOW THE WORST OF THE WORST CONFERENCE IN D-1 A. -
Length of time you have a program counts a lot less than having a QUALITY program. We were BLOWN OUT royally by LA Tech & Tulsa this year. Only Baylor (see our 2003 vs. 2004 games with them) can make such a turnaround. If you did not catch it SMU finished very strong and has almost everyone coming back-- I want to win this game sooooooo badly, but I fear players, coaches, AD will treat it as just another ho hum OOC game, and we will witness the most embarrassing day ever for UNT!!! I won't even mention UT as it should set numerous NCAA records not to mention a hefty body count. How can we need money so much to allow this game to stay on the schedule?
-
We should play SMU about as close as we did Tulsa. That should make our illustrious SMU grad Chancellor smile just to think about it. As to DD remember " it's just another OOC game, the season doesn't start till we get to the big bad SBC".

Stats can measure a lot of things, but they can't measure heart. This team as a whole rated way at the bottom of the years you compared. As for D on the field too long---one answer---get in shape. You know the offense is not going to give you a lot of bench time so prepare yourself to play 40 minutes if that is what it takes. I look back at the 2003 team that played TCU and got NO offensive support, but they still kept giving the O the ball in great field position over and over again. IMHO it became much easier for this team to lose after the TU shellacking ( worst defeat in Fouts Field history). It became much more important to show your macho by being an individual thug rather than a team player. Those who won't be beat can't be beat. Excuses are like rear ends--everyone has one.

President survery results are in
DallasGreen replied to Mean'n'Green07's topic in Mean Green Football
I participated twice in the survey from my work e-mail and my home e-mail. I know many others involved with ahtletics who also did. As I have told every regent I know if you let this faculty gain control of the administration with a puppet President, NT as a whole will be set back decades and athletics in particular may never be competitive again. I fear the worst is coming to pass, but I guess we have to wait and see. Remember LJ said HE would submit one or more names to the BOR from the search committee. Wanna bet it's just one---and most likely HIS. -
question about UNT athletics and why this
DallasGreen replied to calvin's topic in Mean Green Football
I made the trip to LSU with the FB team and Coach Jones was on board. It was amazing to see the reception he got at LSU at the restraunt, at the stadium, and by LSU officials. It was like he had never left. They even had his picture in the restraunt in his playing days and as an assistant coach with Shaq, his prize recruit. I got to know him a lot better, and what a great representative of NT he is. The man is conversational with fans, witty, smiles often, and genuinely a pleasure to be around. It may take one more year, but I am positive he will suceed. One more year with DD, and we are 1-AA at best if not entirely losing the FB program. -

Well said-- a look back to 2005 1) Winless in ALL home games for first time in 23 years and only the second time in the history of storied Fouts Field which should soon be one of the finest track stadiums in Texas. 2) Consecutive losses giving up 54 points to Tulsa and KSU. 3) Six straight losses to end 2005 4) No OOC wins yet again and they are getting more lopsided each year. 5)Gone from best of worst to worst of worst --LAST in SBC. 6) A 2006 season with NO winnable OOC games including an NCAA record setting slaughter @ UT and a humbling old fashioned butt kicking at home by SMU Now tell me again about one more chance. -
Great logo at bottom ASU fan. Congrats are well deserved, hope you can represent SBC much better than NT has the last couple of years.

DD Contract provisons, as of May 2003
DallasGreen replied to bdan2002's topic in Mean Green Football
ALL WILL BE LOSSES, some by double digits, the first may be triple digits. You want 2005 stats: 1) The worst defeat in the history of a 50+ year old Fouts Field (54-2 Tulsa, a team we dominated for years with less paid coaches , facilities, less crowd support) 2) Follow up with another 54 point debacle to KSU, a Big 12 also ran 3) The first all defeated at home schedule since 1982 and only the second in the history of Fouts Field 4)A finish of DEAD LAST in the SBC so we now can claim the "worst of the worst" title ( even though tied with FIU & FAU check the head to head and season totals and NT is hands down the worst) 5) A string of 2 consecutive losses to a team having only fielded a FB team for 5 years( FAU) 6) A near loss to a team playing FB only 4 years (FIU) 7) A final Seagrin rating that would place us in a tie for 6th in the Southland Talk all you want about youth, rebuilding, whinning over funds, lack of support--- the FACT is several coaches here have done much more with much less than DD has been given-- the question is not do we want this program drug even further down in one more year, it is do we as a university intend to commit to being a REAL 1-A program? With Dr. Pohl the answer was a resounding yes. W/O him I have serious doubts. With a faculty dominated new president there is absolutely no chance. As for your hope to beat SMU in 2006-- I'll lay you plenty of good odds against that. Phil Bennet knows who he is playing and will soundly beat us just like the whipping boy, thug type program we have created!!! -
Since this man calls ALL the shots-- give him the job!!!

You guys are dreaming. There won't be 12 K if you even knocked on doors and counted the surrounding neighborhood. 1,200 will be a LOT closer to butts in seats.

Thanks for your input Coach Evans

1994 SLC Championship --win over TT in Lubbock, Win over Oregon State, ranked in 1-AA- need more. The most obvious-- he challenged those we now shirk from - Would play SMU in a Safeway parking lot-- never heard of a "body bag game"
