  1. This is why it is soooo important that the new administration and BOR show a total $$$ committment to athletics. That's what these other smaller lower tiered schools are doing. There is NO reason that we can't be as committed as places like UCF, Marshall, Rice, Tulsa, etc. It is a key to see how Rick V. reacts to the new Pres. I await word on his view of the new Lady Pres. The best news so far is the reup to the BOR of C. Dan Smith who has totally committed himself to seeing that we have an improved athletic program, and football in particular.
  2. Rice is a VERY RICH UNIVERSITY, but if he handles the OC job well which I think he will, he should be ready for a HC job in ' 07-'08. He and Todd Dodge have always been my choices if we are ever going to have the opportunity to compete for recruits in the metroplex and in Texas. It's obvious that we are very lightly regarded by Texas HS coaches from the caliber of this last recruiting class and its notable absence of Texas talent. Just from that interview I'd be willing to bet that Rice plays UT at least 4 TDs closer than NT does. Compare our OC to theirs and you'll get the picture.
  3. Thanks a bunch Rick. I ordered 100 yesterday. Hope to have them at the following events: NTE night @ Ft. Worth Cats- Tarrant Co. Chapter-LaGrave Field 7:00, July 13th NTE night Frisco RoughRiders-Dallas Co. Chapter-Dr. Pepper Ball Park in Frisco, 7:00, July 28th Mean Green Cookout at UNT Athletic Center Sat. August 5th Weekend Scrimmages in August NTE tailgate in Austin Pregame SMU--tailgating in Village This is done personally by me to emphasize the magnitude of this game, since others seem to think it's just another ho hum OOC game. This shirt is not a product of NTE or UNT athletics, but I hope all who wear do their part to see that our players are aware that we need to KICK SOME PONY BUTT ON 09/09
  4. I can't get attachment to download from browser
  5. how about this? SEE BELOW FFR post
  6. So by the end of the summer we'll be without a Chancellor and a President. We do have one helluva Politician running the show however. He may yet in the next ten years get UNT-D up to 1K FTE students which has been his #1 agenda all along much to the detriment of the other 30K who make up the UNT System.
  7. Personnally I feel it's a real advantage when playing northern based teams. I find Texas no hotter now than it was in the 50's, and I work in the heat on the ranch every week. I'll always remember Matt Simon watering down the turf and playing Montana in the early September afternoon. Even though we did not win, it gave us a very decided advantage on our home field. I'd rather watch day baseball anytime over night games with all the rush hour traffic hassles to get there. It is sort of like the argument that the defense stays on the field too long-----solution ----either get more depth or else see that your starters are in shape to play 40 minutes if need be.
  8. Our guarantee at UT is $285K, LSU was $400K last year and they would go as high as $600K on a new deal. The only difference is a turnaround plane ride vs. a bus trip. This is exactly the reason that UT had to schedule Sam Houston later in the season. They only give big time guarantees to competitive programs like Ohio State.
  9. Flannigan said the Trinty QB " was not a D-1 player." We all know that Raymond is much more astute in such areas than Mike Price at UTEP. After all look at all the great recruits Flannigan has brought to the program.
  10. We've already been beaten by OSU, AZ, & Mizzou in prior years. We'll prostitute the team out to anyone who'll pay the price. Until we can get 30K butts in seats you have to live the mid major life. If you think our schedule is tough look at the rest of the SBC. Realistically SMU,Tulsa,LA Tech, and Akron were scheduled as competitive games, but DD and staff have to start giving a rat's a__ about OOC games or none will be winnable. UT is the only $$$$$game on the schedule. At least it's at 11 AM. We can bus to Austin and go through the motions as UT treats this as the preseason scrimmage that it is for them before they commence their real season against Ohio State the next weekend. We need to vacate DKR and start preparing to compete with SMU as soon as the ink dries on the UT check.
  11. At least they are not afraid to have vision, unlike some of the new NT administrators and faculty that hang with the status quo. As for burying the hatchet with the Southern Miserable University Horses' Asses, I have an old Southern slogan for Grey Eagle One and the other horse huggers on this board--- as is said in Dixie---FORGET--- HELL !!!!
  12. The IRS makes you deduct the fair market value of any perks you get at the level at which you join, such as Victory Circle level gets stadium blanket this season. Cost of membership less FMV of perk= tax deductible
  13. What about KICK SMU t-shirt you show on line? How can we get one? These need to be available for sale to students at all orientations and at opening events for Fall semester such as Mean Green Fling, as well as in the alumni center-- THEY WILL SELL-I guarantee
  14. No, the real laughter will begin the next Sat. if we get shellacked at home by South Miserable University!!!!! By the way it was 0-27 at the half in ' 02 not 0-20. If GG II longs to love OSU so much, he won't mind putting a few coins on those slow, Big 10 clodhoppers will he? I'll be more than glad to take his $$$, but I've always been a Texan by birth and never would I rout for a yankee team playing ANY team in Texas!!!
  15. If 0-92 in two outings doesn't show a defeatest attitude, it must at least reflect some reality. ' 02 was 0-27 at the half--do you really believe UT had a game face on for the 2nd half? How about all the 1st half blunders like returns to the 5 from out of the end zone. I will give the ' 02 team kudos for not checking it in at the half. The ' 04 team checked it in after Benson's first run from scrimmage.
  16. I would take 1-11 if that 1 was SMU. It is completely dillusional to think UT is a big game. It's a scrimmage for them before the "Real Season Opener" against Ohio State, and it's strictly a $$$$ deal for NT. I just want it over with no injuries, and DD would tell you the same. SMU on the other hand is a barometer of progress, and losing to them is basically a death knell to the 2006 season. A team that feels otherwise and doesn't lay it all on the line for this game is undeserving of further support. If they can't get up the courage to win against SMU, we should become a basketball school 'cause players , students, and coaches certainly have no clue what D-1 FB is about!! Try working in the metroplex for 40 years competing with these elitest snobs, and then come back and tell me that this game is not more important!!!
  17. I sure hope team, coaches, students, and players feel the same and will not just look at this as just another ho-hum OOC game. For what's at stake from a PR standpoint at this time I can't remember a bigger home game at Fouts and I've been around the program since '58. I feel we should all let RV know we will double our MGC donations if we see a win over SMU. $$$$ talk, and that may get DD's attention. Just think what these elitest snobs have done to NT just lately: 1)Blocked ANY chance for C-USA and publicly supported LA Tech. 2)Blocked PC & JT from consideration for Doak Walker award 3)Attempting to thwart efforts fot UNT law school in DT Dallas 4)Refuse to acknowledge any athletic or academic aceivement of UNT with total control of BELO Press --DMN & DRC. 5)Perpetuate false "commuter school" stereotypes even though current stats show more UNT students on campus than SMU & TCU combined. If these aren't enough refer to Arthur Perkin's 1990 comments that SMU alums believe that NT produces some of the best domestic help in HP. If you can't get up for these A-holes for this game, we need to give up on FB @ UNT. I only wish I could get a chance to put a lick on one of them even at age 59. It remains to be seen if those that count accept this game as the challenge it is. BEAT THE HELL OUT OF SMU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Best first play--take a knee and plead for mercy. After all as DD would say just like the next Sat. in Fouts vs. SMU ---this is just another ho-hum OOC game!!!
  19. From University Strategic Plan for Athletics---The total $$$ raised for capital projects in the 20 years preceeding 2001 was less than $1.5 million. Athletic donors numbered less than 50 in 2001. Annual donation were $50K with over 1/2 of that coming from 3 donors.Today the MGC is over 600 members and has raised nearly a half million $. $11.359 million has ben spent on capital projects 2003 through 2005 with $957K of that still owed and a $400K payment due 09/01/07
  20. Definitely NOT the type President that would meet with LJ's approval- can you say bueracrat without thinking of LJ?
  21. Three letters say this will never, ever happen in our lifetime S M U. Remember this on Sept. 9th when the arrogant horse's asses known as the 'STANGS come calling in Denton. They have thwarted us in every venue possible for decades. This our one golden opportunity to put it to them in our own house. DEMAND A WIN from DD, our AD, our team, our students ( even the horn tooting, tatooed, pierced pot heads who sit and wonder what planet they are on), and most of all DEMAND A WIN from our university leaders -Admin., BOR, dept. heads. THIS IS NOT ANOTHER HO-HUM NON-CONFERENCE GAME----THIS IS ALL OUT NO HOLDS BARRED WAR FOR METROPLX SURVIVAL. DEMAND THAT THE GAME BE TREATED AS SUCH!!!!!!!!!
  22. How can you explain away that while we have grapled since 1994 with this and schools such as So. FL, LA Tech, CFU, FIU, FAU, Troy now kick us around. There is only one answer -THE COMMITTMENT FROM THE TOP IS NOT THERE. With the most pro athletic BOR and President in history we were making some strides. But now with LJ calling the shots for his South Dallas Dream Campus, the BOR even appears to see athletics as a sinking commodity. Games such as Tulsa, LA Tech, FAU last year were not just losses-- they were embarrassements!! Apparently our leaders don't feel that since NONE are alums. I am with what Jeff said a " Quarterly" meeting can't come too soon to let us know just where this ship is really headed before it completely sinks to the bottom!!!
  23. They are saying SMU could go either way?
  24. It's right up there with the start of those "quarterly" meetings that haven't taken place in more than two years.
