  1. Never will be a "home" game with a top 50 BCS team unless our A.D. is receptive to playing in the Cotton Bowl or "Jerry's World"
  2. 24 would be the lowest spread UNT has had in an opener in years. See KSU, OU, & UT.
  3. The Southland would have been a more realistic question, opps forgot TSSM, Lamar, and UTSA all will have greater funding than UNT. Maybe the Lone Star is more realistic.
  4. There is absolutely nothing UNT could do to get SMU to support us in ANY conference realignment. The only choice we have is to kick their butt anytime we get a chance ( 2014 is a LONG time away while they now schedule SFA,etc.)
  5. Every year that passes I become a little more impressed with how much Corky did with so little resources. Of course assistants like Mills & Shanklin helped as well, but I never saw one of his teams go into a game thinking that they could not compete. It's been more than a decade since our players had that attitude. Even in those now long past N.O. Bowl years DD told them OOC games were just for $$$$ and reps for conference. Even the best of those teams were not competitive in OOC.
  6. Other than Texas/ OU--what high $$$ games are at the Cotton Bowl--- TAM-C vs. ACC, Gambling vs. Prairie View, and AR- PB vs. Southern are not my idea of high $$$ games. TX/OU will be gone to Jerry's World just as soon as present contract expires.
  7. I think our attendance over this period given the product put on the field is nothing short of miraculous. Kudos to the A.D. staff for a job well done!!!
  8. The reason UNT is ranked #120 is not the SBC's fault. How can we continue to knock the SBC when we have won one league game in the last two years (UL-M in 2007?). WKU is not officially a member till this year, and the last two years we have won on a fluke against them. I can't see where getting the snot kicked out of us every year by Boise, Fresno, Nevada , and Hawaii for double the travel budget in FB alone makes sense. Let's get to the point of beating FAU & Troy on a regular basis before we blame the conference for our lack of recognition. As Pogo would say " we have found the enemy and they is us".
  9. Is it just me or is anyone else getting tired of being the laughing stock of the whole country in FB? You can't tell me that in any remotely similar situation that some kid would brave the winters of Boise rather than staying in Texas, but it's happening because absolutely no one has any respect at all for UNT. I truly hope that Riley can instill some pride in this team. I have not seen that spark and confidence since the days of Scott Hall. Give me someone with desire and fire in his gut and I'll take on your pampered blue chippers any day. It just seems we no longer get those recruits who have that pride and desire.
  10. It should be quite the rage for Biff & Buffy at a Mustang tailgate
  11. I bet if you take out Boise the WAC is not even on the list.
  12. This is the same QB that one Ramon Flanigan scouted and came back to tell DD that he would never be a D-1 player. Such is the stuff of which our departed recruiting coordinator espoused as the pearls of wisdom that started this downward free fall. When you replace a Chuck Mills with Flanigan that is not a sign of progress. We are still paying the price of that bonehead move.
  13. The bigger question is how elusive and inovative Riley can be on the run. Vizza took as much punishment at Troy during his first season as I have ever seen a QB take since Dandy Don's early years with the Cowboys. My wife and I were amazed several times that he could even get to his feet after the shots he took. Riley's knowledge of the offense may let him make the hot reads that Vizza did not have the experience to pick up. I feel it is absolutely essential that Riley not be put in a position to take the hits that Vizza took. That being said his knowledge of the offense plus more overall speed do add an interesting wrinkle. Personally I would like to see some sets where he and Tune are in the same backfield as this would really keep the defense off balance knowing that Riley could run, throw, or just be a decoy.
  14. 35 hours has come and gone--no word-- is it dead?
  15. I wish every article about increased fees or tuition would be followed with the increased amount of financial aid and scholarship moneys made avaiable in the last ten years. With no stipulations on how financial aid is spent I'm sure it's just another pipeline to "free money" to many students who sqaunder it and then complain about fees and tuition.
  16. Since the House passed the fee bill I've heard nothing on it or the law school since they went to conference committee to iron out differences in House and Senate versions. Sales solicitation of suites and club seats are in full swing, but could increase greatly if fans are assurred all is signed , sealed, and delivered. Construction costs are way down and the bond market is ripe if we get this moving NOW.
  17. I desperately want to see this team show some "heart" and pride. More has been done with less talent and far inferior facilities at North Texas. The honeymoon is over for TD. It's time to walk the walk, but he's got to get his team to "buy in". My heart says 6-6. My mind says 0-12 with academics, drugs, and hoodlums continuing to be a problem creating distractions that kill any hope of optimism.
  18. Mean Green Sports streaming video of road games may not be the best quality, but at least you can see them. Several good broadcasts last year( WKU in FB; Denver and ASU BB among others).
  19. MOST LOP SIDED DEFEAT IN 50+ YEARS OF FOUTS FIELD=TULSA 2007
  20. I could not agree more. This team has shown absolutely no heart. I look at teams of the past with much less talent that had the will to win. I can take losing, but what I can't take is quitting just as soon as the going gets rough. I have talked to others who feel the same. The puzzling thing is that Dodge says all the right things from a coaching standpoint to have a motivated team. It's obvious that the team is NOT buying in to what he is selling. Why is the big question that must be answered.
  21. NT is definately not an SMU rival but SMU is a UNT rival. Mustang brass know that long term survival of their program is intricately woven into being competitive with TCU every year and even more importantly completely dominating all other in state non-BCS competition. NT is the closest and on paper a threat. If you can't work up some passion for NT vs. SMU then you are definitely not a local who has experienced the arrogance that is SMU first hand!!!!
  22. This is the ONLY game that matters in the future schedules. It is just too bad that it is soooooooooo far in the future 2011??? or 2014???? 6 to 8 year home and home I think. You can bet it's that far in advance because Mustang top brass expect June Jones to make SMU football a smokin' hot commodity by then that will crush NT on a regular basis.
  23. "That commuting students are not welcome"--a big time college atmosphere would dictate that as a true statement.
  24. Don't know about Hillsboro, but just ask former UNT FB player and former Regent Chuck Beatty who is also former Mayor of Waxahachie and you'll find that much smaller suburb has been much more progressive than Denton with a new convention center, etc.
