RV was just given a contract extension through 2017. He knows the problems first hand at SMU as Tony Benford and his #1 assistant (former Ole Miss head coach) were both checked out by SMU and chose UNT. RV doesn't exactly have the Highland Park demeanor that Gerald Turner and his alums demand for their $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Few may know but the Rudy's in Waco refused to cater the UNT tailgate the last time we played BU in Waco. The Denton Rudy's packed up all their food and supplies and catered that function driving 100+ miles to do so. Come to the Monday night shows beginning on Labor Day to support NT fb and support Rudy's Denton for all they do. You'll see plenty of North Texas gear there too.

Only wish the "community" would awaken and realize that the biggest employer in town is a decisive factor in growing Denton into an active college town and permit it to be viewed as an integral part of a rapidly expanding DFW metroplex. The enthusiasm of the " community" might even awaken some of the Greeks, Geeks, Potheads, and Jazzheads in the student body!!!

Nothing short of a 16 team tournament using the bowls as playoff sites proves a legit national championship. I also favor only conference champions being participants. Even in the present system, teams that finish worse than 3rd in ANY conference should not be bowl game participants, and no I do not think there are too many bowls or else there wouldn't be quality teams like WKU in 2011 that are left out every year.

Try 53 years (since the age of 12). I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly (and the support shown at our last Football game definitely falls in the UGLY category).

Yes and just think where we could be if the measley $7. increase was commensurate with what UTSA and TX ST@SM pay ( double that of UNT).

Cultivate support in the metroplex and it's more progressive cities, i.e. Lewisville, Corinth, Highland Village, Plano, Allen, Carrollton,etc. just to name a few. We have a great presence in each of these and more. It is time to shift our resources from an ungrateful and non-supportive Denton community to new venues that will appreciate what is happening @ UNT.

We learned with the choice going to UTEP before that fan base and attendance are just as important as those factors you mentioned. Look at the last FB game and you will truly see how little support especially student support is given to this program. If we get left out again you can rightfully blame the jazz heads, pot heads, and commuters as among those who have no loyalty to anything but themselves!!!!!!!

If LSU offers JJ is gone. Just like Karen Aston @ UT this is his dream job, and we sure can't match$$$$ with LSU

INTERESTING THAT BUDGETS AT FIU AND MTSU WERE BROUGHT UP SINCE THEY BOTH HAVE SIGNIFANTLY HIGHER STUDENT FEES THAN THE $7. INCREASE FOR A DEDICATED ATHLETIC FEE THAT SO MANY BITCH AND MOAN ABOUT. THE STADIUM BONDS ARE CALLABLE IN THREE YEARS SO SOMEBODY BELIEVES THEY WILL PAY OFF AND THEY YIELD 5% TAX FREE WITH A AA RATING SO THEY ARE A SOUND INVESTMENT EVEN IF NOT CALLED. PLUG A $20 STUDENT FEE INTO YOUR NUMBERS LIKE THE LIKES OF UTSA, TSU@SM, AND LAMAR STUDENTS PAY AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT THE REAL ATHLETIC BUDGET SHOULD BE. I JUST WISH STUDENTS WOULD STOP PATTING THEMSELVES ON THE BACK FOR PASSING A MEASLEY $7 INCREASE.

After the student crowd at the last game why would you want to have more home games??

For UT any buyout is chump change. They were already paying a women's coach Kim Mulkey like $$$. We are a stepping stone--that's life in the mid majors.

Congrats to the Cajuns. Several of us went to our game in Lafayette. Treated with great respect and sportsmanship. BTW it was biggest crowd ever. Great to see them having a blast in New Orleans. Announcer said no one left at home in Lafayette as they were all in the Dome. Wouldn't you like to hear them say that just 10% of Denton attended any of our games home or away. Of course students couldn't be bothered as they might catch a cold if they left the dorm.

All it takes is a photo of the student section of that last game at Apogee and any positive move will be doomed. Remember we were passed over for UTEP for one reason---our lack of attendance. The student culture of apathy has to change and quickly for UNT to have any shot in realignment.

What makes the NCAA BB tournament great is that the little guys have their shot and sometimes come through. A +1 or anything less than a sixteen team playoff system which first includes all conference winners is just another BCS in different clothing.

OSU won their conference and proved it is worthy. Bama didn't even win the West Division of SEC and had their shot at home. OSU has earned its right to compete. Then let Bama wipe the turf with TCU and splattered frog in the Sugar Bowl, it will get the toads ready for what they will face in the Big 12-2. RG III for Heisman!!!
