The NCAA BB tourney with 64 teams is arguably the greatest event in college sports. Compare it to the weak FB playoffs starting in 2015 with just 4 teams. Is there really much difference from the present mythical "National Championship"?. I say it's not even close to a true playoff w/o at least a 16 team tourney. The new system like the present one just makes the rich richer.

ASU and UL would be great additions along with WKU,
-
I support this post 100%. How can we throw rocks at other future C-USA members when we may have shown to be the weakest addition???

Tulsa University is not leaving for the Big LEast, at least officially not yet.
-
Denton has not and will not do anything that cost city $$$$. Have development cross that county line---- DFW is where the action is--let Denton be the backwoods non-college town it wants to be.

SMU's Gerald Turner comments on realignment
DallasGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree throughly. More rumblings from the leader of the "Evil Empire". Ask RV how many times Southern Money University has tried to buy out that 4 game gig. The ONLY way they ever respect us is that we consistently kick their rear and not whimp out like BB does against UTA -

If this is true then DENTON is truly an exception to the rule. No, I don't see the good citizens' beating down the door to enrich the greedy multimilionaire Dallas pro owners either. Maybe they just prefer to be an artsy, fartsy nobody of a college town.

5 million people in a three county area (Palm Beach, Dade, and Broward counties). An area so rich in Boca Raton and Palm Beach and down to South Beach that it is known as the Gold Coast. Pro players like Morris leading rusher in Redskins history from FAU and also in the pros T.Y.Hilton from FIU. Also look at the records and we have not exactly dominated either of these teams. FAU's new stadium is just as nice as ours with more luxuary suites. This board continues to downgrade the FL C-USA schools when they are actually showing much more potential than UNT. The negative talk in this thread just makes those with delusions of NT granduer look stupid.

Every time we draw a good crowd we lay an egg--ULaLa national tv game was the one exception. Perception is everything and to the rest of the world we remain a small, commuter school in a rural town that shows no interest in football in particular and the universities in general. We are viewed as a party, pot head school whose only fame is from horn tooters and teachers. We can only change this perception with winning seasons and a signature like ULM vs. ARK & AL.

If McNulty turns out to be the starter it is pure nepotism and the season is lost before it begins. Go look at the 2011 Tulsa film and tell me that McNulty will ever earn a starting position.

FAU and MTSU have more potential and are better tv markets. Let ECU and Tulane lie in the bed they made.
-
Yeah what about Nebraska and even Maryland

I saw this too at the U of H game. Problem is players and coaches apparently don't "get it" as every time we have a game that excites fans and would allow this heretofore hidden demand to explode we lay an egg. Lip service by coaches and a visit by the team the night before gave no indication we would sleep walk through the first half. I know the talent is thin but so is the fire in the belly that could offset some of that. Team pride and effort can offset superior talent and o/s 2 foes nobody on the 2012 schedule had that great an edge in talent.

SMU proved last night that it is light years ahead of North Texas. It's time to consider letting them buy out this series to stop what will be certain embarrassment if we follow through with facing such a program that clearly dwarfs North Texas. It is apparent that coaches, AD, and students don't mind being whipped completely by metroplex foes (see UTA in BB last two years). Only older alums who continue to endure the ridicule and embarrasement really care. Put them out of their misery. Run up the white flag and take in the mercy that cancelling this series will bring to the long sufferring of those who care and have endured for those that could care less and show no pride.

What if Thompson is the starter next year...
DallasGreen replied to North Texas Shep's topic in Mean Green Football
We had a ton of receivers quit on routes after we lost our only receiver with any speed in Chancellor and a top RB in Jimmerson. DT carried ten extra pounds in 2012 because there was absolutely no one behind him if he went down. He will have shed those ten lbs. in spring. The QB that beat Troy at home in 2011 for our only win ever at Troy and was on fire against top rate competition at KSU and will have his fourth year under Canales will blow away Berglund who hasn't played in two years and McNulty is not even in the hunt--too short and if you saw him @ Tulsa in 2011 you would know there is absolutely no chance that he will ever be a starter. -
I smell a large amount of W's and a bowl in 2013
DallasGreen replied to trussbussdad's topic in Mean Green Football
Why are Ball State and Ohio iffy when the SBC is going to take them to the woodshed in the bowls??? I just don't get all the MAC love shown on this board. They are by far the worst of the mid majors. Their own fans don't believe in them---look at their crowds this year on tv as compared to SBC!!! -
I think we go 9-3 with losses to GA, LA Tech, & Tulsa. Of course I'm not a big MAC fan like some on this board. I think the SBC kicks their rear by more than point spread in the 3 bowl games. SBC is favored in all three, and ULaLa set the bar in N.O. Bowl. We owe RICE back big time. Hope we get them in Apogee as there is a Houston jinx with NT.
-
Let' see what you say about that after ULM kicks their rear in the Independence Bowl. This board constantly overrates the MAC.
-
Saw Berglund for first time at FB Banquet--easy to recognize as he was the one with the large "S" on his chest

Concerning 2'nd Yr. Turnarounds @ FBS Level
DallasGreen replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
We do not have time for a 5 to 7 or even a 4 year plan. There has to be urgency to WIN in 2013. Nothing worse than a 6-6 is acceptable. BTW Blankenship @ Tulsa came directly from Tulsa Union H.S., but he had experienced collge assitants. -
You WAY over rate the MAC--watch how they do against the SBC in the three bowl matchups. The Big East this year is light years ahead of where the nBE of next year will be. The MWC all depends on whether Boise and SDSU come to their senses and return.

NEXT YEAR...not asking what if, but stating....NEXT YEAR!
DallasGreen replied to trussbussdad's topic in Mean Green Football
Berglund won't play a down of defense. Until we improve in the D Line, secondary, and the O-Line plays like it did at KSU we have many other more pressing problems than QB. If Turner Gill was this guy's idea of a great maker of QBs Canales may not have too bright a QB prospect to work with.
