Could not have said it better! Realism is tough. To UT this is a preseason scrimmage and nothing more. Best we can hope is to compete, no injuries, and the $900K check clears. Then go home and prepare to start the season in a MUST WIN OVER SMU!! If we lose to the 'Stangs the season will not be a success no matter what else happens.

It’s time for a UNT tradition — Get Your Rear on the Record
DallasGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
SMU will be a loss. Coach Mac is too hung up on this not being a rivalry even though most of those SMU wins were decades ago and not relevant to modern college football. -
Been told that team hotel is Marriott South. Development should announce tail gate and Fri. Party location next week.

I would give up football completely before jumping ship to the owners of the NFL who continually fleece the sheep that follow them.

Most plan to attend home games. Will road games be shown? Why has no more emphasis been placed on the SMU game?

2014 GMG.com UNT Player Adoption List

But you are a closet SMU fan -
I'll take the just the semi-signature win you mention, but every time I hear MAC speak he seems to have conceded the SMU game as a loss! Referring to it as a non rivalry due to previous record against the hated 'Stangs. Most of those SMU wins were prior to WWII , so what does that have to do with the Sept. 6th game?

As long as we won't play in Dallas we will not schedule that caliber of games at home. Could never pay the guarantee that the sparse crowds in little "d" bring in. We had a natural for 2014 being the third game during the State Fair in the Cotton Bowl. H of D Bowl had already shown we can draw there.

Undefeated C-USA team maybe not enough for playoff
DallasGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
If you think UT views North Texas as anything other than a scrimmage, you are sucking hard at the green kool aide. The changes now taking place in collegiate football put us as far behind figuratively as we were in I-AA.- 13 replies

DRC: UNT preparing for financial changes in college football
DallasGreen replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
G 5 will become the new FCS. There is no way to compete with the $$$ the private schools can generate nor the state schools with alumni support we can only dream about. You have to wonder though what will happen when the bottom half of P5 can no longer fatten itself with wins against the FCS and lower. Even their alums may tire of losing records and bottom half finishes. I already see the shock of this adjustment at TCU. -
North Texas coach recalls a painful moment — a loss to UTSA
DallasGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
1994 was the first D-1 year back against Mizzou in Columbia. The opening kick off was run back for a TD but as luck would have it Mizzou got called for a clip. My wife and I were at the game .- 26 replies

Brett Vito C-USA media days wrap-up thoughts and tidbits
DallasGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't buy that it's a mismatch as many of those SMU victories were many decades ago. I hope Mac is not undermining the importance of this game, and that message is what the players are hearing.- 9 replies

Sad when visitors outnumber your home crowd, but at the same time nice to have visitors show up. At least they were civil much unlike UTSA football fans.

UT Tix deadline today; SMU single game tix on sale!
DallasGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Beating SMU before a large crowd could solve a lot of metroplex problems for UNT! This is the most important game played to date at Apogee. -
Stupidest statement by a coach in 2014. The P5 " mythical" national championship between 4 picked teams is a farce made for TV. If the BB FINAL FOUR had only picked 4 teams which of the ones that made it would have been there with the exception of Florida? Unless you decide a champion on the field among 16 teams with all 1-A conference champions represented and the remainder being from the highest ranked BCS teams this farce is only minutely better than the previous " National Championship".

By TSU do you all mean the system by that name or the San Marcos wannabe who attempts to use the name of the system rather than it's correct name TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY@ SAN MARCOS? Should we say TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY@HUNTSVILLE orTEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY@ NACOGDCHES as well?

Allen vs Denton Guyer at Apogee - Aug 29th
DallasGreen replied to NorthTexan95's topic in Mean Green Football
Seeing the dismal support that little "d" gives its local high schools, the marketing should be directed toward the Allen fans. It is the DISD that is blocking the building of the hotel/conference center by its failure to give tax reparations even though the county and city have already agreed to do so. Sort of like the building of Collins Stadium on Loop 288 rather than having a dual use stadium with Apogee and sharing the cost of construction. I hope UNT charges them a ton of rent for their use of Apogee. DISD has certainly done nothing to aid UNT and that includes coaches directing D-1 athletes to other universities rather than support the hometown university. Every time one of these leave for the so-called "bigger" schools I always root for them to be a bust. That would go double for Herrod @ UT. -
USAtoday college fb countdown (SMU must beat UNT)
DallasGreen replied to GOMG2013's topic in Mean Green Football
SMU game will determine our season. We have tough P5 games before and after (UT & Indiana). Treating SMU as another ho hum non-conference game would be devastating for the remainder of the 2014 season. I hope for a good showing , no injuries, and a confident team coming back from UT. The amount of marketing and game day atmosphere we get for SMU will have much to do with on the field performance. I just have an underlying personal fear that our fans, students, and the Denton community will not give this SMU game the credibility and all out passion that it deserves. Those of us who have long supported this program know what a convincing win over these arrogant snobs could do for our local image immediately, BE THERE, BE LOUD, BE PROUD-- MAKE EVERY SNAP THEY TAKE BE A REMINDER OF JUST HOW MUCH THEY ARE LOATHED IN MEAN GREEN COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BE PROUD & BE LOUD, -
In trouble last summer but appeared focused during season. Don't think Mac would relish background music. Hope it's not a sign of slipping into old ways 'cause I feel it would be the third strike for a talented kid.

SMU's Cox School of Business ( namesake's son, Jr., took down two major Dallas banks and did jail time in the 70's for fraudulent commodities trading) lacked accredidation at one time, but it is now an icon in Dallas. -

Brett Vito and the DRC win five TAPME awards

Glad to see he thinks and writes for himself, and does not follow the DMNS line that the world revolves around the "EVIL EMPIRE" that is SMU! -
