This is the same DISD that built a $15 million stadium when they could have played in Apogee. Sales and occupancy tax revenue from the proposed convention center will far exceed any DISD property tax the district gives up. If I were a Denton taxpayer, I would be miffed at this USUAL Denton attitude of thwarting progress

11 AM start killed SMU crowd. Much better crowd with 6 or 7 start. BTW does band have real unis or do they plan on kahki shorts all year?

Predict that " announced" will not accurately equate to actual which will be 11-12K of which 7,500 will be students. Denton eggheads go to Oktoberfest unaware that a game was actually happening on Sat. Some things NEVER change, Denton being the sorriest sports town in America being one of those!!!

Could not agree more as subpar pass blocking and practically no run blocking. So far highly overrated.

I played, my 2 sons played, my grandson is playing, and I was watching NT football before you were even a gleam in your father's eye! You don' t have a captain get called twice for pass interference and get beaten badly for a TD and say the poor defense is just tired. I'm not defending Greer or MINI MAC as there is plenty of blame to go around like an o line that can't run or pass block and gets penalties by the score!

Don't judge Patterson until you see his team against Big 12 competition, where he is 6-10 in two seasons. Stamford & Minnesoto? Let's see what he does when he plays the Big 12 every week. I'm betting KU & ISU are his only teams with which TCU can compete. TCU will be a victim of the P5 regime.

Can't say I disagree , but there is one big thing you left out----MAC can override Canales in any situation. Those of us who saw Chico as an interim head coach, or when Dodge knew he was gone and gave Chico the reigns at FAU Dodge's last year, know that he would never run this kind of of offense left on his own. Asst. coaches make suggestions, and head coaches make decisions in the final analysis.

I agree with all, but if the D is tired, they need to get into better shape. Instead I saw them quit cold in the second quarter against La Tech.

Thanks Rick and oh so true. I was on the sideline against SMU and like with DT the players have confidence in JG Nothing said here tops that. What we really need is to give Carlos Harris a little more return blocking support instead going for punt blocks that more times than not result in drive extending penalties of the opponent.

This is the attitude that is needed. No one is going to melt with a little rain. Buy a pancho at the fan shop. This is our team ,rain, hot, cold, or perfect --------weather should just not be a factor! Too many of the townsfolk in little "d" have used excuses for way too many years. This is the town's team. UNT is Denton's largest employer. Students and faculty contribute greatly to the sales tax base as well as their housing to the property tax base. Every citizen of Denton and especially the merchants benefit immensely from UNT being in Denton. You Denton people owe UNT big time and owe it a lot more than the token support you continually show. BE THERE THURSDAY NIGHT NO EXCUSES!!!

O-Line needs to run block and pick up blitzes. I rewatched SMU game and Darius Terrill, Darwin Kidsy, and Carlos Harris just need to get the ball cleanly thrown to pull their defense out of eight in the box. Greer is improving, this was only his second D-1 game. Our experienced O Line just needs to be as advertised and give our backs' a crease and they will do the rest.

La Tech will bring more fans than SMU even on a Thurs. Night . The students will return en mass and still excited from the Sat. Win. Big question is will alums fight I35 traffic ? A Train is a good option to promote. Can ANYTHING get the Denton townsfolk to come on Thurs. Night?

The " no fans" reference could easily apply to little "d" as well . A look at the alumni side and the wing zone was pretty pathetic on Sat. for a rival game. Yes it was hot, but do you think that matters to fans at P5 schools? Heat is just an excuse ---------just like butt holes ---- in Denton everybody has one. If we had real fans in Denton they would be there on game day!!! Kudos to the students and hoping La Tech brings a lot of folks because you can forget about the good townsfolk even hearing that there was a game until at least Sun. Turnout for Nichols with 2:30 kick off will be pitiful no matter the outcome of Thurs. night's game,

IT IS A RIVALRY NOW. THE GAME IMBALANCE IS DUE TO THE ONES PLAYED DECADES AGO. 2-2 SINCE1990. If we can't get sky high for this game, we are dead as a D-1 program. Will have to depend heavily on student draw as townsfolk are too ignorant to understand the importance of this game!!!

Still America's sorriest sports town even though at the apex of a sports inundated metroplex. Fail to support the city's largest employer or to recognize the sales tax revenues brought in by Mean Green athletics, students, and faculty. Backward community that will in the next decade be brought into the metroplex kicking and screaming. Location alone will bail out little "d" , but games of any consequence against " name" opponents should be played as the third game of the State Fair in the Cotton Bowl or if truly marquee in Jerry World.
