  1. also missed K-State at UTSA which could be interesting
  2. 3 to 5:30 , but if you don't leave by 5 plan on missing the first quarter. SMU ticket takers have to be the slowest and worst at any level of college football. Just ask the thousands of fans who were in line for BU/SMU last week until well into the first quarter. Concession lines even slower than admissions so get those before kickoff!
  3. Fouts will be dozed for a multi-story parking garage sooner than later. Answer to parking is live on or near campus and use the buses. Simple as that. Also no cars for freshman helps. Maybe that needs to apply to sophomores as well.
  4. I was there with BU fans as my wife is a BU grad. Also had fellow UNT Foundation Board member with me. I have been supporting NT FB since you were nothing more than a gleam in your father's eye ( 56 th year- saw Abner Haynes at age 12). If you are in need of a closet SMU supporter see Grey Eagle. Personally I can't stand them, but they were impressive in first half vs. BU.
  5. Plan on standing in line for at least a quarter and have cash in hand. Was at BU game and it was the worst admission procedures as well as concession procedures I have ever seen anywhere. They are only prepared for a crowd of about 10K, and if you don't leave the tailgate an hour before kickoff plan on missing the first quarter.
  6. You would hope so but there has to be a product on the field!
  7. True if we insist on playing at Apogee. Third week of State Fair in Cotton Bowl or anytime in Jerry's World much more likely! yeah Canales was the coach and got to run HIS OFFENSE not Mac's antiquated run first which gets you three and out!
  8. La Tech has the same look tonight!
  9. Makes it seem non patriotic to root again them
  10. I have heard Wilson may not play. No reason was given but source quoted was as of last Thurs. and is completely reliable.
  11. I say BEAT SMU or the other scenario will not happen! I think getting routed by SMU would kill the season and devastate recruiting in DFW. They will be more than ready. It's not how bad I want to BEAT SMU ( which is THE PIVOTAL game to our season to me) but that the team, fans, coaches, and students want it as badly as I do. I do think wins and losses that happened pre WWII should not be considered in looking at the series.
  12. June Jones was not enthused with SMU when he applied to AZ ST and would have signed if Todd Graham had not become available. His attempt at jumping the SMU ship was common knowledge, but after being shut out by Baylor and then almost shut out by North Texas I heard a big donor that was underwriting his salary withdrew so it was iffy that the university would pony up to keep him ( pun intended). He probably knew he would be a short timer before the North Texas game. He also knew that Hawaii would welcome him back in an instant so NT was the push over the edge.
  13. I guess the exact was that he is a long ways behind by missing the spring, but Mac gave the distinct impression that he would not be seen on Sat. Unless the game is out of hand one way or the other. What I may have embellished is the fact that the reason he missed spring is that he was too stupid to qualify.
  14. If we are within 7 at half we can win, otherwise SMU will mind bogle us with speed and moves. Prescott Line and Matt Davis are far superior to any we can field at QB or running back. Play smart defense and keep it close and we can win. If we blow up early it will be a rout for SMU. I hope we are ready, but after seeing SMU I fear we are not prepared for what we are about to face. Speed and QB/RB play will be the difference unless our defense can suck it up big time.
  15. At last night's coaches show Mac said MiniMac #1 and Josh Greer #2 with DaMarcus Smith a distant third w/o a grasp of the offense. Hope he is not another Dajon or Berglund all potential but nothing between the ears!
  16. Th Rice MOB as well as the Stanford band are a disgrace to college football! I would rather have no band at all than that rable. They are lucky not to have gotten killed a few years ago at T$M when they made fun of the mascot and the military. The infamous stupidity of the Stanford band for being on the field before the final play and having a hook and ladder run through their startled hippy band will live in infamy. But what would you expect from a school with a tree as its mascot? These may be institutions of great intellect, but their bands make them look like a bunch of fools. So does wearing t shirts and khaki. If the football team has to wear full gear and be on the turf surely the band can look presentable in the stands. The majority of other NCAA schools do not resort to summer attire!
  17. UNT has not won a road opener since Ball State in Dodge's second year, and has not won at SMU in more than 80 years! BTW the crowd at last night's coaches show was among the smallest of those I have attended and was very mellow and uninspired. I hope this attitude changes by Sat.
  18. Having seen SMU/BU live I can tell you this guy is GOOOOD! I agree he will bubble screen a lot. We must attack and jump routes and not give a five yard cushion. SMU will run an uptempo offense, and we will need multiple looks on defense to keep them off balance. I was impressed with their lines on both sides of the ball. BU wore them down in the second half. I am hoping we have enough depth to do the same. They have the talent to put us in a hole in the first half. We MUST move the chains as three and outs early will cost you dearly. Shadowing Davis is a MUST as he is shifty and can have five to eight yards on you in the blink of an eye. This is a well coached talented team but thin on depth. They play a lot of good freshman, but they can still make freshman mistakes. Throw out last year's game as this SMU team is so far better than that one that it's like dealing with polar opposites. If we can stay close in the first half we can wear them down, but if we get burned or give up three and outs in the first half we will find ourselves too far behind to make any sort of second half comeback. Historically we have been greatly intimidated on SMU home turf.
  19. Dressing in a REAL band uniform is negative ? Look at all REAL programs and they don't come out in khakis and t shirts. Our band looks totally bush league until October and by then no one gives a damn.
  20. A better question is can we get the Green Brigade to wear real uniforms rather than looking like they had stopped for a day at Lake Lewisville on the way down. SMU wore REAL uniforms against Baylor, but maybe they are just University Park cool and don't sweat like our horn tooters
  21. Tell me we have a prayer at Marshall. In fact from this week's games UTEP seems the only possibility I am sure you can look for 1,500 chilled fans at Apogee on a Thanksgiving weekend.
  22. Your friend was definitely right on the smack talk as students and alums were talking plenty of trash especially afterward when they saw me and a fellow UNT Foundation director there in our NT gear on the train after the game. They definitely feel they will mop the floor with the backward little commuter, horntooter school from the north next weekend! Do fear their speed and QB play. Three and outs will have us quickly down by multiple scores in this game. We must play uptempo to be competitive.
  23. I was there and Matt Davis is the real deal. He is very slippery and is a true dual threat. No way we have the speed that SMU showed. One thing if you waltz in five minutes to kick off like people do at Apogee forget about seeing the first quarter, as SMU is completely unprepared for a crowd over 10K. After you get in the beer line will take you a quarter to get through. SMU will bring plenty of folks after what they saw last night. It was BU depth that finally wore them down on a warm, humid night. I hope for the best for UNT, but we must speed up the tempo to have any hope against SMU. I was very impressed with how their lines on both sides of the ball held their own against a much larger BU line.
  24. Hiring Coach Mac is a great thing? There are probably a dozen FCS coaches who would have had a better record in the tenure Mac has had with amenities heaped upon him that no coach in NT history has ever enjoyed. I was at the BU vs SMU game last night. What SMU has done already under Chad Morris is very scary. You will see a marked difference in an old style coach and a young up tempo coach next week. This is not to mention a dual threat QB in Matt Davis that we have no prayer of stopping. June Jones left them a jewel in Davis.
