Seems we continue the injury bug especially at RB. Are we continually failing to beef them up to take the punishment that a RB gets.

All portal players are prima Donna’s that are legends in their own minds. Chandler Morris for one is damaged goods that UVA will never recover what they shelled out for him.

It only took four donors to build Ford Stadium. SMU has unlimited $$$$ to build or buy anything they want. Always best team money can buy.

Divisional games we played in FCS generated a lot of excitement Nevada-Reno, ULM, and Marshall all became FBS. The fact that you usually had to win your conference to be invited gave conference championships more meaning. That is the only thing I like about present set up. A four team playoff was merely a popularity contest and never crowned a true National Champion.

Should we add Texas State to the AAC?

Basketball is irrelevant. Football drives the bus. Lose it and your entire athletic department quickly craters. -
Should we add Texas State to the AAC?

We will soon only have 3 twelve to fifteen team conferences that can continue NIL and transfer portal. Need to cut our losses and head back to FCS. Students, town, and school have no respect by FBS and rightly so. -

We need another in state rival to complement UTSA Don’t trash Charlotte until you have been there. They are great fans and students who strongly support athletics. Town is banking center of the south. Average age of a resident is well under 40. -

Time differential is disadvantage of PAC-we we’re invited a decade ago and turned down the offer for this reason -
You can have that fan base just go back to FCS where Denton and the admins are more “comfortable “

You are entirely correct I was just glad to see us get it in. The goal line stand by Army was particularly embarrassing

Power Conferences making their move to take full control

I have always felt only 50 schools can remain playing D-1 football. What they don’t address is football drives the bus for all the other sports so eventually the result is termination of athletic programs at all Group of 5 schools.. -
Would You Really Rather Talk NIL/Transfer Portal

Teachers and musicians offer nothing after leaving. Soliciting them or commuters is wasted effort -

San Marcos had 14 in the portal so they won’t be the same either. I am a football fan of North Texas for 60 years. I have served on the alumni association’s BOD for a dozen years with two as President and on the Foundation Board for nine years with a year as Treasurer. You either support your university or not. FB and BB are not mutually exclusive just as I was a friend of Coach Fry as well asCoach Blakely. -
No football in Texas= no media or fan support

Increasing student attendance by 10% might mean at most 500 basically no returns on huge investment. Location is just another tired excuse. Look at all the alums we have that have zero interests -

Joe Green and company played their last college game here before less than 5,000 people. Put the blame where it really lies——apathetic students and a town who considers itself too cultured for football. Has not changed in 75 years and never will. If NT played in Lewisville, Frisco, Allen or Plano sell outs would be the norm, but Denton would rather have a few hundred show to see someone toot a horn. -

I have seen great effort and spirit in the bowl games. I feel w/o them there is nothing for a D-5 team to play for. I watch them all as well as the CFP. In fact I just bought two Cotton Bowl tickets hoping that UT is in it. To show how mixed up people o/s the metroplex are about a stadium named the Cotton Bowl that does not even host the game, I heard an announcer say that UT has an advantage because it plays OU here every year. Really? I would rather see it played in the old venue rather than a pro facility where Jerry Jones keeps the bulk of the revenue. Just call it what it is “Jerry”s Bowl” -

Vito kicking UNT in the nuts again
DallasGreen replied to meangreenfaninno's topic in Mean Green Football
A very true statement about the apathy toward North Texas Athletics. I find the lack of support appalling. I loathe every Denton HS product who fails to even acknowledge that NT recruits them. This would never happen in Lubbock, San Antonio, Stillwater, and now even in Dallas. A great deal of NTs lack of success goes right back to the town as well as apathetic students. If NT was in Lewisville or Frisco attendance and enthusiasm would be double at the least. Denton far from being dynamic is a horn tooters paradise. -
Agreed they are gone and will never return. As much as I would have loved to be competitive with them, I did see them beaten by us once in Texas Stadium and three times in Denton. The present system suits them just fine as they have always thrown their wealthy alumni’s money at any problem that arose. I have even heard that Clark Hunt and Jerry Jones each contribute $ 1 million a year to their program. That is still no excuse for our pathetic student turnout and lack of support from the City of Denton. Since they don’t support their high school teams why would you expect them to support their principal college even though it is the biggest employer in town.
-
If they are putting forth a good product why is our FB& BB attendance so pathetic ?Performance reviews are required for all other departments to continue their funding. The huge number of grunts who have supported UNT athletics are quickly finding that there are better uses for their funds and for sure better accountability for how their $$$$ are spent !!!

Cost of attendance Texas Universities
DallasGreen replied to Tommy Gadberry's topic in Mean Green Football
Tenured professors, unnecessary committee meetings, no training or accountability for VPs or advancement all contribute as well. Athletic Advancement should include new funds raised , contacts made, and bonus based on incentives reached. -
How long before players unionize if this happens? If they are employees how about benefits i.e. 401(K), group insurance, group life or annuities ( opps forgot SMU HAD ALREADY CORNERED THAT ONE 40 years ago), incentive bonuses, already have paid gym memberships and education expenses paid for them, group disability, and umbrella liability if sued. Most any employee would like these benefits until it came time for performance reviews that deal with salary and bonus. If this sham continues D-1 drops to 50 members and group of 5 say goodby to athletics and Denton can then get all the horn tooters it desires.😀😀😀
