  1. Well, a spread offense is supposed to be balanced. Mike Leach, Joe Tiller at Purdue, Rich Rod at Michigan and most other spread coaches talk about the spread's ability achieve 'balance' not just in run v pass but more in touches to various players. Instead of one guy getting 20-30 touches and another receiver getting 10-15 touches, everyone is a threat to get the ball and score. Even Dodgie here gets some balance, or at least tries to. Riley Dodge had something like 1000 yds rushing his senior year. Up at Mizzou where Pinkel is using some of Dodge's offense “[The Missouri staff] had me speak at their spring clinic,” Dodge said. “We did visit [about the offense]. It was while they were recruiting Chase. I sent them a DVD of Chase Daniel. And two weeks later, I was at their clinic.” Really, I don't think the offensive system is the problem. Not adapting the system to your players, not being able to recruit good players beside WR that quit, not knowing that defense is important: that is the problem.
  2. Yes, 3 and out, followed by a pick, followed by a turnover, quarterback roulette and black unis. Our offense sucked. Everyone was excited about Dodge because he was going to bring Dodgeball to UNT. We were going to score, run and gun, and be exciting. There was a big banner on Fouts with Dodge, Jackson, and a diagram of a pass play. He was hired for his offensive 'genius'.
  3. I don't think it is fair to say he was a total disaster. Like I said before, he was really hired to improve the offense; we sucked horrifically before he came. He came in and improved it. Problem is, that he cannot coach d-1 defense. He should have been hired as the o-coordinator a la the dude that went to Arkansas then went to Tulsa (they are lighting it up) and we should have gotten a college coach to take the reigns here. More on the Tulsa guy, he brought back the Wildcat with McFadden, and inspired the Miami guys. I think Dodge is a good offensive mind. Head coach? Maybe after some time in the ranks to learn how to do things. I agree about the gamble not paying off.
  4. Wow, that's a good point. I haven't though about that. ...
  5. So who is starting firetodddodge.com?
  6. Wow. We are the team to set records against. That dude Chery had 5 tds and now this guy from MTSU. Horrible. Horrible.
  7. MTSU gets overconfident and struggles to find their rhythm. UNT gets emboldened by the closeness of the game, and realizing they are 1-0 in games that come down to the last three quarters, they pull out a win. 41-38
  8. Just a few things on how to fix the mess we are in. http://ntmescan.blogspot.com/ Also, I'm rootin' for Tech tonight. EDIT: Its cool to leave comments, all you that have read.
  9. True, but a friend would also forgive. It depends on their relationship. Still though, it is not so horrific that it cannot be corrected. It is just money. It can be replaced.
  10. I really think you have to look at the situation here. I know when I use my card to buy little things here and there, its easy to forget how much you spent. Now take this dude here, he certainly didn't keep a log of how many times he used it. It adds up pretty quick, next thing you know its 400 bucks. Yes, I know its wrong. Yes, it was an a-hole thing to do to your friend, BUT, it should have first been handled between friends, THEN if nothing could be done, you go to police. Especially since it was just money. Money can always be paid back. He didn't do anything un-fixable. There is a huge difference between taking advantage of your friends kindness, and robbery. Maybe not on paper or legally, but in real life. You would be way more lenient with your friends than with a stranger. I think the dude should pay her back plus interest, and apologize.
  11. Yeah, though the unis look alright, its kind of sad that they were modeled after a high school team. We could have at least tried to emulate a college program. Like Iowa State wants to look like USC or Indiana wants to look like Oklahoma, or maybe even after a pro team like Iowa did with the Steelers....
  12. You know, adding wideouts is a tried and true strategy used in the NFL. Ask Matt Millen.
  13. Though the Mean Green don't take any opponent lightly, Coach Dodge thought UNT had a chance against the bye: "We are looking forward to the bye week" Unfortunately that was bulletin board material, said Star player Saturday Morning: "We saw what their coach said, and we took it to heart. We let our playing do the talking." And that they did. Jumping out to a 50-0 first quarter lead, Sunday scoring on a punt, kick, interception, and fumble return said about his great game, "just doing my part for the team." final 77-3.
  14. Yes, I agree about the Snake Pit being good for one night only. It kind of sucked being distracted by 800 people walking in front of me, interrupting the game. Eh, it was a good reminder of why we need the Super Pit.
  15. thanks.
  16. When DD was here, our offense sucked, even though we had talent. Our defense sucked, even though we had talent. Now, with TD our offense sucks, but we don't have as many mature talented players. Our defense sucks, but we do not have as many mature talented players. I think that says it all. Let's see what Todd Dodge does with seniors and juniors of his own choosing before we say he was a horrible hire. If we still suck at that time, then we fire him.
  17. thanks for the welcome! Yes, I suppose I have been sort of lurking.
  18. Well I think that we should aim to improve our overall standing in the nation's eyes. The best way to do that is to improve our conference association. I wrote about what I think should be done. at http://ntmescan.blogspot.com/2008/10/new-s...conference.html. read at your own risk!
