  1. not to mention that W.O.M advertising is the most effective. And really, what is social media than word of mouth?
  2. Yeah, all the programs listed are second tier. Granted, they still grab better talent than we do, but I'll geek out when we get a guy who has had offers from and had been highly coveted by UT, OU, Florida, USC and the like. You know, elite schools. I am happy that we are getting the guys we are getting though. Also, the mgsports guy is a little homerish, but like someone said above, it is the official site and whatnot so its to be expected. I like Vito's stuff though. I think the ones who don't are those really sunny people who kind of get on my nerves with all their blind, unfounded optimism. Its not like BV is crapping on a 11-1 season, and finding things that suck about it. I think he is more just calling it like it is. Also, with all these updated rosters, I think I may restart my dynasty on ncaa 10. Which I am sure you all are following, eagerly anticipating each update.
  3. This being my senior year II: the sequel, I am used to it by now. My boss is a Texas Douche and he likes to make snide remarks about UNT. Like last year when we all went to the UT-Ark game, ".. This is the new part of our stadium, where they expanded it, .. blah blah blah... Hey Adam (that's me) how many people does ya'll's stadium hold (snicker)?" Tis okay. I get him back when talking about how I am his IT/HR/Marketing/ most important guy there, and say "what's the matter dude? They didn't teach ya'll that at Texas?"
  4. When does he do this? Maybe because I wake up around 9 or 10, I don't hear him do this. Is it outright UNT bashing or just OU loving? Also, when I got see UT this year, I will be a North Texas Douche. Promise, guys. Cross my heart and hope to get drunk.
  5. I remember thinking that as well, and also commenting how thoughtful and giving he was. Really the whole defense was quite the charitable group. They graciously gave that guy from MTSU the game of his career, and that other guy 6 scores, and Rice a headline to remember ... ... we should be called the Gracious Green.
  6. You know, I said the same thing about hope. . Speaking of high standards: I think we should compete for the Sun Belt title this year. Should being the operative word. I have my doubts. I am drinking the Kool-Aid. I don't mind gettin swept up in the fervor --in fact that is the fun part about being a fan of sports-- but realistically? Well, I'll shut up and just enjoy the ride.
  7. You know, speaking of dice. Back when I was ten my dad brought out his old football board game. You played with dice. You would roll the pass dice and get 25 yards. The defense would roll their run dice or pass dice trying to guess, if they guessed pass, the number would be subtracted from your number giving the total yds gained on the play. It was fun for like 10 minutes.
  8. Only one way to find out. I'll start. Next headline will be: Why TCU is scared of UNT: 1. Denton is better than FW 2. Green is better than Purple 3. Eagles are better than Horny Frogs 4. We have TWO nicknames and 2>1 5. We are getting a new stadium, they are stuck with an OLD one, ewwww. 6. We have the highest scoring offense of Sun Belt teams located in Denton, Tx 76201
  9. geez. how long does it take for the NC2a to figure this out?
  10. its all very meta. also, I am going to play one of their message board dudes in NCAA 10 the week of the first game. Some dude that posts there and writes for BSUInsider. Gonna stream it and everything. Like a proper nerd.
  11. Does the student fee count in revenues? I thought that the revenue total was ticket sales/merchandising/ SBC monies.
  12. I dont think the running back position is designed to be 'nothing more than a blocker'. However, his explosiveness and speed do not help when you need an extra second or two to get the ball off. Happens in the NFL all the time. There are guys who can run the ball, but are not the best at the running back position because they are not as good blockers. Also, it is possible to run from the shotgun a la WVU and Michigan. It is harder to do and takes a lot of work. I also think that KidDodge's mobility will help our offense control the ball and clock a little more, which is what a running game does. If he can turn what otherwise would have been a sack or a throwaway into a 2 or 3 yard scramble or even a 5 yd broken-play dump off we will be better. Now, it is also possible to get more than one of these guys into the game at the same time. If they are so explosive that we lose out when one guy is not on the field we should get them to return kicks, punts, put one at wideout etc. I think PapaDodge has said that they will do some of that. I am tired of hearing how going under center or brining in a TE will be THE answer. Bullshit. In that thread about the qb someone mentioned how we scored 20 points a game off dink and dunk 3 yd gains. I can live with that. I know why Dodge went to the ball control type offense rather than that chuck-it-deep game: our defense sucked. He got conservative because he was playing the odds. If our defense could get a turnover, get a lucky stop, something and our offense could be mistake-free-kick a field goal team we would have a chance. So I don't blame the dude. After trying to outscore everyone and failing the year previous, he tried something different.
  13. Fun? Who said college was supposed to be fun? I know I came to harness the power of ideas through a culture of learning based on diverse viewpoints, interdisciplinary endeavors, creativity and disciplined excellence. This is accomplished through a broad and balanced array of programs where well-prepared students and dedicated scholars and artists collaborate with UNT local and global communities in the creation, integration, application and dissemination of knowledge. In this way, UNT creates an enriched and sustainable future for our students, state, nation and world. I mean, didn't we all?
  14. I dunno if running a 4-3 will prevent us from getting gashed by the running game (see: last 3 seasons)
  15. Speaking of spread offenses and quirky schemes. I think we should run this . more. even more I know that the better athletes you have, the better your defense will be no matter the scheme. Still, I think it would be easier to find tweener guys with relative speed, than prototypical guys who fit the 4-3 or even 3-4.
  16. Deep in the catacombs of UNT Athletics a few years ago..... RV: (takes puff) 'Dude. You know what? That Dodge is awwwwsome. His teams won like, a million games in a row already. Wouldn't it be cool if he was our coach? Friend: " haha. Totally dude. We should like, hire him and stuff. RV: 'And change our uniforms to be the same as them! Then WE would win like a million games in a row."
  17. Exactly. In fact, I know some of those people. But do you see how giving the questionable noob cops one less thing to have to look out for could be beneficial? One less thing for them to worry about. Just, 'Is the guy speeding? Yes? Write Ticket.' 'Is the guy illegally parked?' No? Do not write ticket' and 'Did detective ask you to dust for finger prints? Yes? Are you having success? No? Then don't announce loudly to all present, who may include the perpetrators, that you do not have a print.' (<-- happened) You know, stuff like that.
  18. You know? I usually avoid cops in general. Its all part of my general life philosophy that power corrupts people and cops are people with power. Now, before emmitt or anyone else starts yelling at me, I am smart enough to know that not every cop is a power hungry douche bag. But, I know people, and so far in my 23 years I have met some asshole cops. For example, my mom was dropping off her friend one night around 7pm earlier this year. Some cop pulls up. My mom is thinking that maybe her blinker is out or something along those lines, he walks up to the driver side window and says: 'nice tits'. No lie. wtf is that bs? Stories like that coupled with the fact that this last year I have made friends ( for some godawful reason ) with apt managers who deal with cops in Denton alot. Lets just say that they don't give them glowing reviews. Aside from the few bright ones, they give me the impression that we have a lot of C-stringers here who maybe didn't have much else to do, and so they decided to sign up to be a cop. Also, the general decay of a civilization has more to do with laziness and inflated senses of self worth, i.e. 'We are better than them because we are Babylonians/Assyrians/Egyptians/Romans/Greeks/British/Americans. After a while successful societies built on hard work and humility become complacent in their old age (nationally speaking of course- we are 225+ yo) and don't do the things that once made them who they were. I forget the Roman dude who decried the changing and Greekifying of Roman culture, changing the ideal Roman from a hard working farmer/soldier to a fancy boy philosopher. Or something like that. So yeah. Again, legalize it and lets worry about putting smarter cops on the street.
  19. but even that uses up police time and resources. Think of the paperwork. There is an opportunity cost there. Police could be out policing other crimes. Or, if there is nothing for them to do, we can reduce the force, thus saving money.
  20. So how much do we have to raise to get new unis? From what I gather from the process its on the coach and the equipment manufacturer. Higher profile teams ( aka marketable teams) get priority designs and the rest (us) get stock designs with our colors. Is that right? I really would like to see helmets with our logo and not just our name. I know its so people will know who we are and whatever. They could put the wordmark over the logo, though. I'd take that.
  21. Sure. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a business man (Check) and godknowswhy: a politician (prolly just so I could say I did it) So yeah.
  22. I agree with the whole 'free enterprise' argument. Reminds me of this guy's argument. However, I think it is a mistake to call the game mediocre. It is pretty good. Given the fact that the dev team has only a year to improve it, there aren't going to be drastic changes. Take COD: Modern Warfare and World at War. They had Treyarch and Infinity Ward do them so they could release them so quickly. Two separate studios. And they both use the same game engine. Kind of like how NCAA 10 uses the 09 engine but is slightly improved. /nerdy
  23. I'll do it. Just give me some time.
  24. so 60% ( as of this writing ) of gomeangreen forum members vote for legal marijuana? awesome. They should put that as the slogan: GoMeanGreen.com : supporting legalized mary jane since 2009. lol
