  1. Unfortunately (or fortunately) it matters not what is taught. I find that a crapload of people don't know some basic stuff. And they were taught here in the six-flag state. Even then, even if the history books have been left-leaning for a while, you couldn't tell by the things some Texans say. People have to want to know to learn something. Most don't. They are content to be sheeple.
  2. The Pourhouse is fine. It's accessible for non-students (which means those that have money) and students alike (cuz its close). As far as being too small: it fits the size of the true fan base. They have been the most dedicated to the Cause the whole season. Its kind of a biatch to get any local places to put on the unt games. "what? oh UT doesn't play til 8" "what game?" "who?" So after having been at that Ball St opener, and because JJ wants it there, it should be fine by us.
  3. Right. I better tell Manning and Brees they can't use none of those spread concepts anymore.
  4. Well, since Fouts isn't like a treasure trove of memories, if we stick it on the uniforms we'll get a mention in UNI-Watch and really, I'd be happy with that.
  5. It may have hurt him. But really, isn't that still on him? I mean, he chose to stay another year. He had to have known what that would do. Really, it's hard to fully blame PapaDodge on this one, though. It is more on UNT. Coming off of the string of success that he had, it would have been hard for TD to say to his guys that they weren't good enough. With all that shhh he was talking about "coaching being coaching" it seems like he really believed that. Someone, and I guess that means RV, should have made him, that's right, made him compromise on some of those dudes. I would have let him bring his offensive staff because that is his baby. The defense though? No. Ronnie Mendoza had no outstanding achievements (that I know of) worthy of being a D-1 D-coordinator. I would have made Dodge-y convince me that he needed his defensive staff in its then iteration. I would have maybe accepted Mendoza on the staff but definitely not as DC. Eh but all that is hindsight. Still though, I wonder what actually happened. Did RV even question any of that?
  6. Yep. I think the only thing that could save him would be a miracle run by the Nationals. That could potentially set this guy up for at least a good two year run. Rooting for that.
  7. If only a little too late.
  8. I'm sure that is what this guy is hoping for. Still, I wonder if it could be viable to be an independent. I noticed he is looking for advertisers right now. That is probably the best way to keep that thing going but I was mostly wondering about the fan-supported coverage. Let's say he eschewed any advertisers, and relied solely on donations, how long do you think it could last? Unfortunately I think somewhere the novelty wears off and he has to find a regular job.
  9. chillin on twitter.

  10. This former beat writer is covering the Nats with donations from readers, which is awesome. I guess I'd be willing to pay someone to cover UNT with a little more depth than Vito does, and less brown-nosing than the MGSports site does. Would you? LINK to story. aaand longer version of what I thought.
  11. So if it is not completely under Athletic Dept supervision, who runs the thing? Let's get a hold of that dude/chick and use the power of Internet to make stuff happen. Or not. You know, whatever's cool with everyone.
  12. I don't know about the future of UNT-D, nor do I much care. As far as advice on where alumni support should lie, well I think it's fairly obvious: UNT Denton. If you need precedent just look at the UT system. UT-Austin people don't give a crap about UT-Arlington or UT-San Antonio. About it being the flagship: there is some benefit to having a flagship university in a major city, so that would be cool if they decided that. But UNT is Denton, and holds a lot more sway here than it ever would in Dallas. So there ya go. My 5 cents (inflation you know)
  13. You can only play defense up to a point -- they can always get lucky and knock down shots no matter how tight the defense is playing. You are gonna give up looks but the goal is to make them highly contested, low percentage shots. Once we took away their bread and butter (the afore mentioned Princeton) you live with them taking their second favorite shots by their second favorite shot takers. Short version: Yeah what tasty said.
  14. Kind of a stretch but u get an E for effort.
  15. I like him/her. Talks football. Talked some mess about the bs TE stuff. Made me post. Fallin in love. ...
  16. You know whats a double edged sword? A single edged http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zv8d_ry-u-Q. (NSW-Language)
  17. So it turns out you don't have to be a nice guy to win football games. Unless you're being mean to Craig James' son.
  18. If it were competition based: I thin an argument for dropping Baylor for TCU could be made. Definitely Iowa St. Big 12 should lobby the big ten to take them off their hands. As far as our fortunes go, we sure wasted a good opportunity to stick it to Shmoo. They sucked for 20+ years. Sure we made a little headway but now they are breaking away with an effin proven coach. I hate it.
  19. I drove through Uniontown, 'Bama on my way to Georgia. Probably the saddest, ugliest place I have seen outside of Fouts.
  20. I wonder what the value of a Big Ten Network Plus Notre Dame would be? How much more can the BTN charge with golden domers in its stable? Surely would be a big boost to the other schools, maybe even enough to compete better with what the SEC gets for its deal with espn/abc. I don't see the benefit for ND though. Never have. They are a conference unto themselves. Unfortunately this won't benefit us. Even if the everyone does a conference bump, CUSA wont be scooping us up anytime soon. eh.
  21. armed forces bowl for me. I wanna see Houston's offense
  22. Ridiculous. I know he has to toe the party line but I mean come on. How about he doesn't insult our intelligence? I can stomach it a little coming from casual fans on this board but from the official athletic site? Ugh. If I weren't drinking a beer and chillaxin in front of the TV watching some Heat v Lakers I might be stirred enough to be mad.
