I can't remember if my ID was ever scanned when I used to come in as a student. During the Rice game, I overheard a guy with a clipboard telling some kid to go count a section. Anyone know what that is about? He was pointing toward the Pit Crew. For the record, I think it was RV who was munching that popcorn.

I appreciate your enthusiasm for the team and desire to see them play at their best. You'll have to excuse us if we don't indulge you in your lineup-discussion. Having played the little high school basketball I did and picking the brain of my coach, I realized long ago that there is a crapload of stuff that goes into the game strategy-wise. Guys start or don't start for more reasons than "He can ball." Size, understanding, ball handling, shooting ability all factor in to these decisions and they are made with much more data than the games. Like all those practices you don't see. It gets only more sophisticated as you go up in level. Unless you have two NCAA trips under your belt or some serious credibility beyond 'My buddy coulda-almost played college ball' I can't really take your lineups seriously. I do agree that we looked a little sluggish on defense. Hogans looked lost on a couple defensive sets. A lot of those threes they shot were ridiculously wide-open, and we didn't have our hands up on defense. With that said, we are 5-1 because we have a veteran ball club with two guys that can score at will at times.

If we are talking blank check I wouldn't build another, but improve the Pit so as to preserve some history. Somebody call Doc Phil and Stone Cold to donate $50 mill for some renovations, man. And Thomas Haden Church, Robocop, and that piano playin' chick too.

I knew about the Thomas, Meager, and Fitz stuff. I was actually kind of excited to try to break those records on NCAA 09 and 10. They didn't update them though. Like the school records for TD passes etc. Eh. I digress.

Also, apparently we cannot say Eagles unless it is university-approved but also we must say Eagles so as not to offend the people that attended NTSU and don't give a crap about anything. There have been like three suggestions, in total. Eppy4life tried like hell to hijack the thing. The rest of it has been bitching about the fight song. This chant/cheer is in addition to the stuff we do now. This isn't about changing anything, nor is it a space for you to vent about how you like cheering during opposition kick-offs. A good portion of you whiners cry about not having what those Big Number conferences have. Do it now. Make something up. Now. It isn't open-mike night for your crappy 'we suck' jokes, Eppy. Nor is anyone trying to change all your dear traditions, Rudy. Also, this isn't for the cheerleaders. When the male-cheerleader comes back and tells you 'no we can't use that' ignore him. Let's come up with a cheer that you old crusties in the Alumni section -- who have lots of excuses but no enthusiasm come up with something that you can cheer. And dammit that M-E-A-N G-R-Double E-N thing has grown on me and FFR can fulfill his dream to be Fireman Ed and lead it if it means we get to do it.

Seems to me that it isn't much more complicated than any other school. Just 'too expensive and too much red tape' to do it for little ole' North Texas, huh? Other than better video boards, some upgrades to concessions and maybe a fan shop I don't see much to complain about. Fouts was the worst stadium in college football or damn close to it. The Pit is the best-kept secret of the Metroplex.

I'm completely down with 'Mean Green' getting more prominence. F branding. I don't mind the two names being used together, as that is also unique. (sorta --I suppose Auburn maybe can say something about that). So, hows about this: At the UTA game, say MEAN GREEN EAGLES FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT in place of the current U! N! T! EAGLES etc. Also, I say let's spell out MEAN GREEN. We could do it cross ways like NORTH TEXAS with the Pit Crew, alternating letters on the first go-round, then all together for the next four times. (I pick 5 times cuz why not).
