  1. Haha I have sports hate for FIU from the sun belt days haha
  2. The podcast with @Aldo https://meangreennation.com/podcast/176-so-close/ We laughed, we cried, we talked about the game and the season.
  3. Aune is great throwing deep. That is why they like him. He does a good job doing RPO stuff, but he has the yips where he will air mail a pass over the middle, and bounce it in other cases. My thoughts are that it is technique. Like, he is not setting his feet and trusting his mechanics in pressure situations. That's just me though. I'm not a QB coach.
  4. like, I know this is a troll bait post and being only human, I clicked on it and read through it. I don't feel good about myself for it, but again, I am only human. I also ate some halloween candy that we bought for passing out. Not a good week in the impulse control department for little old me. I do agree that QBs are a weird spot and you really cannot know until they are put in the brightest lights and biggest positions. I disagree that Jason Bean is a sure miss. His stats at Kansas look a lot like the ones at NT. He had a hard time finding dudes whereas Aune throws a decent deep ball. Aune can't / does not run for siht tho, and that means we are less explosive --- but that's a debate I don't want to have again. Jace Ruder was brought in to compete for the job and take it from Aune. He did not. That says some stuff about Ruder AND the staff. I think not even getting a whiff of Zappe was nigh unforgivable. I just absolutely dislike the idea that he went to bowling green, Kentucky when we could have hired the coach/qb/wr combo like WKU did. I think the decision to change the offense to one that emphasizes the RPO and deep shots put the staff in a spot where they cannot evaluate the QB spot as well.
  5. https://meangreennation.com/so-close-north-texas-27-utsa-31/ We are recording the podcast tomorrow. I don’t want to spam this board so I will reuse and recycle. And rewind and be kind. I did not note in this recap how well I thought STF25 played. Good stuff from him.
  6. A written form of the preview. This is a bit lengthy. So like, wait for lunch time or something. MGN UT-San Antonio preview
  7. A little preview of the preview IMG_8865.MOV
  8. It is a big game, so we talked about UTSA for an hour. Yes, that means there is a La Tech review and a UTSA preview posted the same week. Enjoy. Oh and @Aldo joined. Also we only had 5 minutes of messing with cords and wires and audio settings. https://meangreennation.com/podcast/175-utsahateweek-preview/
  9. I was planning on going but we are hosting a halloween party that saturday instead. I will be planning a hoops trip to BG, in Jan
  10. No @Aldo as he was celebrating not being by his lonesome. https://meangreennation.com/podcast/174-rush-dominant/
  11. https://meangreennation.com/2022-north-texas-vs-louisiana-tech-preview/
  12. https://meangreennation.com/podcast/173-bye-week-perspective/ @Aldo and I fought through the vicious internet gremlin army to get the podcast recorded and posted this evening.
  13. Mike Leach was saying they should be employees. I think that's fine.
  14. Yeah I know what we are trying to do, but there is a point where you have to determine if your offense can be run by these players against this defense at this point in time. It’s a balance. My criticism is that we either were not executing well enough (coaching/talent problem)* or not keeping the defense off balance (coaching/play calling). Vs FAU all the stuff they ran that was constraint stuff (sweeps, direct snaps, QB run) kept the defense off balance. The bulk of the offense was ran well also — the throws to Shorter were on time and on target, for example. * And when. We moved the ball well versus UNLV but lost three 4th and 1s. A+ grade for all aspects of the offense except short yardage, where they got F- That brings the grade point average down a bit. re: Tennessee. Hendon Hooker is balling out and for Aune has been mediocre in crucial spots in comparison.
  15. Seth said he had been working hard and they liked the variation he brought. Essentially, he brought a different element (running).
  16. I like Sam Doughton, but I thought this was just a big swing-and-miss: > North Texas 45, FAU 24: Anecdotally, just from the FAU folks I follow on twitter, it sounds like the Owls were banged up a fair bit before they traveled to Denton. Even with that, giving up 300 yards on the ground to a program that is a) generally associated with airing it out on offense and b) lost 58-27 to (an admittedly much better than usual) UNLV is rather concerning for the folks in Boca Raton. We have had a good running program for a year and a half, and Littrell has been a big run-game proponent his whole time here.
  17. https://meangreennation.com/podcast/172-much-improved/ No @Aldo again but he was there in spirit (via text).
  18. I wonder if he misspoke when he said "offseason" and meant the "off week"
  19. much better than the Ticketmaster stuff imho
  20. I suppose October is tomorrow, so a little thread necromancy doesn't hurt.
  21. Got to grade on a curve a bit. Every retail space is pretty terrible right now.
  22. I tweeted this but it’s incredible how affordable these season tickets are. It’s something like $200 for great seats. MGN HQ is in STL and Billikens tickets are $900 each + deposit for worse seats.
  23. I think a lot of people are counting the Memphis game as a moral victory. I don't, but I also am not super mad about it. I don't know if I feel good about it or I am just unfeeling.
  24. Pod is available for your ears. No Aldo, but unlike last time that was intentional. I re-made some points from the LoSt pod at episode but made some new ones. It is available on all your favorite podcast platforms, at least until they think there is no more money to be made from it. Then I’m sure they’ll ruthlessly delete the links. Until then, listen.
