  1. What really chaps my arse is the fact that people on here think TD and the coaching staff are sitting in the office with their feet up riding this pony until they get fired. I don't know or understand why people think that coaches have practice and games and give no other thought to what’s going on. People act like football is the lasting on the mind of coaches that they are doing whatever they can to win. These guys are doing everything they can to put the kids in the position to make plays but there comes a point in frustration that you have to start trying to gear up for the next year. I haven’t been able to see a game, but I have stayed in touch with the board and maybe we have a selfish team. A team that wont do what they are asked to do but rather what they want to. Football is a selfless team sport, everyone must do their job and only their job each play. Of course being a coach I am going to take their side but with the changes offensively two years ago. Defensively this year these kids are being asked to do drastically different things than they were. Yes tackling and blocking are the fundamentals but the change from a run based to spread pass base offense is tough. Defensively some things stay the same but more things changed than not. Assignments, reads, coverage’s, positions changed and it takes TIME. TD is a competitor and a coach and trust me he is trying like hell to find a way to win.
  2. PErry G thats a nice rest except for the attack of coaches in that post. I played defense my first year under Chuck Mills and I tell you what DeLoach is as good as they come as a coach and person. He is having to undo the damage that was done prior to him coming back to NT. He is a quality DC and will be fine if given the time to do his job, the question I have is what qualifications does the person writing the article have to judge him as a DC? Leftwich is a get r done coach - meaning he gives you the tools and the knowledge of what to do and how to do it and then he expects you to get it done in whatever way is neccisary. I can tell you playing with Brewster, Randell, Zuniga, and Bense (and I would not think or know this other wise) cohesivness in the a line is VERY IMPORTANT to success. The 2002 Championship game at fouts, we were making adjustment in the huddle vs NMSU without a coach because lefty instilled the knowledge and tools to get it done. All in all everyone is entitled to their opinions and that is what we all have. I know that we need to understand firing of coaches is going to do nothing positive. In fact its going to create a large pit in the football program. We are not going to get any tenure coaches at this point. We need to give ALL the coaches time and opportunity and if things dont work out in a few years then move on. Firing coaches now is going to create a nasty situation, would you want to work where the guy before you was quickly fired and not given ample time to produce? HELL NO!
  3. Anyone who really beleived that TD was going to come in and be successful right away is an idiot. It is going to take 3-4 years for him to have his kids in place and understanding his philosiphy and really buying in to the program. I am probably the only one who believes this but I think every head coach should be given a minimum of 4 years to get things on track. The fourth season is when his seasons should start. I know in the now and here society that we live in that is impossible, but that fourth year is when the old is gone and he has %100 of himself in the program. I am in the same boat as dodge, sometimes it isnt the coach - - no wait more often then not I am finding out its not the coach or the X's and O's but the jimmy's and joe's.
  4. Get ready for more sacrifices. This is just the beggining buddy!
  5. try out this site http://goallineblitz.com/game/signup.pl?ref=4819880 Its pretty realistic and a ton of fun!
  6. Good Point Rick. In one on one Brewster and Booger would get it on and I will say that Brewster won his fair share if not more than Booger. Alot of times it would seem Brew was going to get beat and then he would slam the other guy. We eventually gave Brewster the nick name GRAVE DIGGER.
  7. Anyone do or know of someone that does this type of work. The only company I can find is in Florida.
  8. I have to agree with Ramone, Deloach is top notch. He is a great coach and man, he is everything he needs to be to each player. He is one of the few coaches that can act like a human around his players and get the best out of them. I really like coach deloach and feel he would be an astronomical asset to the MEAN GREEN.
  9. 2002 Mean Green vs 2007 = 92-0 2002 Mean Green vs 2006 = 34-14 2002 Mean Green vs 2005 = 49-7 2002 Mean Green vs 2004 = 29-27 2002 Mean Green vs 2003 = 22-20 2002 Mean Green vs 2001 = 36-7 2002 Mean Green vs 2002 Arizona Wildcats (TD not called with PC on 4th and goal) 37-13
  10. Its works for most numbers, just type the number in google without hyphens. For all of you with Children FYI - It does work Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and you will be given the person's name and address. If you then hit Map you will get a map to the person's house. Everyone should be aware of this! It's a nationwide reverse telephone book. If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and alarming!!! Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I tried my number and it came up along with the mapquest and directions straight to our house. I did fill out the removal form for myself, and encourage all of you to do the same. Quite scary! Please look up your own number!!!!!!! In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to: Google ( http://www.google.com/ ) Type your phone number in the search bar (i.e. 555-555-1212) and hit enter. If you want to BLOCK Google from divulging your private information, simply click on your telephone number and then click on the Removal Form. Removal takes 48-hours. Check your own number and (although this may not apply to you if you have an unlisted number or cell phone as primary contact). You may know someone who needs to know this -that would have little kids. It takes Sex Offenders right to your front door!! Please share this information with friends and family. This is also on www.msn.com
  11. College Football is a Business, its not high school any more. When Rick V came in he told us that no one would be allowed to wear other college apperal and not one went forward on racism then. These two players are jackasses and need to be releived of the scholarships.
  12. I am in Camp Wood America, home of the Nueces Canyon Panthers. Over the last 3 years the Panthers have been 3-27 so we have STARTED on the right track.
  13. well Mean Green Nation.....,I picked up my first career win as head coach. We won 20-7 abd should have scored several other times. We are 1-0 and looking to be 2-0 vs. a very beatable team. And on a side note my wife Kelli is having Twins - expected in January!! Matt
  14. did you know that game winning pass wasnt supposed to go to George!!!! If you watch the play and watch #89 Jeff Muenchow on the left side at TE he falls down trying to chop the TE and gets up and is ALL ALONE. Andrew was supposed to throw it back to him. I can remeber thinking, as the ball is in the air, he better catch the damn thing or I am going to beat the hell outta Andrew. I was right next to Muenchow and saw how open he was.
  15. What people forget and I didnt understand was the fact that this is a BUSINESS FIRST. Travis Matlock was a great player and person, but the night before the New Orleans Bowl in 2002 he was told that he was going to snap extra points so that he would loose his red shirt for the year and his scholarship would open up for a new recruit. We were all outraged and pissed until someone raised the question of what we could do about it. Travis should have gotten to play another year or play some during the season, but thats that. COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS A BUSINESS NOT PERSONAL.

  17. What did you create that in?? Thats pretty sharp!! Keep em coming
  18. As many of you know, I just took over the head coaching position at a small 1A town in the hill country. Now I am trying to get a good clean logo and I really like the interlocked NC that North Carolina uses however I was shot down when asking to use it. So I am going to need a altered or different logo. I have contacted smitty and he is going to try and help me out, but I wanted to seeif there was any other ideas or help the gmg's may have. Just a little info: School Name: Nueces Canyon Mascot: Panther Colors: Royal Blue / White Thanks
  19. I have had the chance to meet and talk with Peterson several times at clinics and he is a 100% CLASS ACT. Does any and everything that he can to help HS coaches. Told me that the reason he had a job was because of the ability of Texas HS coaches to develop athletes.
  20. Island Eagle, I was just telling FFR about this book. My brother gave it to me and it has EVERYTHING about college football. I dont have it with me but I was telling him the story about Mean Joe getting a ride at UNT. I thought that was a pretty good story.
  21. Thanks guys, it a small step to where I want to be but a hudge leap for the future. I had no idea how incredibly hard it would be to get even a bad head coaching job in TEXAS!!! Now I have my foot in the door and am looking to make the best I can. My moto: ALWAYS LOOKING TO MOVE ONWARD AND UPWARD TOWARDS MY GOALS!! GO MEAN GREEN
  22. Iam currently the head wrestling and Varsity O/D Line coach at Uvalde Texas (4A). Along with these titles I am required to do various other things descriped as "other duties deamed neccesary" in my contract. Ranging from sweeping to running a concession stand. However I have verbally accepted a position, that will be official at Thursday nights school board meeting, to be the HEAD FOOTBALL, POWERLIFTING AND TRACK COACH (with emphasis on FOOTBALL) @ Nueces Canyon CISD. Its a 1A school located in Barksdale and Camp Wood Texas (The beautiful Hill Country). I am very excited and will be one of the youngest head coaches in the state of Texas @ 26 years of age.
  23. anything and I mean ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING less than the best recruiting class NT has ever seen is going to be unacceptable. Dodge is going to win state and is HOT right now. If he doesnt bring in a big time class the MOE will begin to slow. This program and Dodges future rely on this years and next years recruiting classes. ARE YOU LISTENING RILEY??
