Totally agree on career production. But there is absolutely no reason we cannot find another game changing QB once Mason moves on to bigger and better things.

Mason is an awesome player. And he very may well be once in a lifetime/generation. I do think we need to see a couple more QBs play in this system before stating that conclusively. It’s unlikely we find another QB that presents the type of awesome story Mason does. Maybe I’m in the minority, but I’m not willing to resign myself (yet) to a reality where we will never find someone that can match his production, as impressive as it is.

It’s a big ask for anyone other than Shanbour (who we know isn’t the QB of the future because well, he’s a senior) to come in and play well. Bean and Martin are getting way less first team snaps. Way less chemistry with receivers. I was hoping Quinn could do more and I’m sure he is disappointed too. These things happen sometimes. I don’t want to fall into a lowering expectations trap, but this sure does beat going 3-9, 3-8, 1-11, etc...This team now needs to take the next step forward but I still believe the arrow is up.

Albuquerque is only about 5,200 in elevation. It’s a change. But not extreme. Unfortunately Logan UT is at 4,500 so it’s advantage USU for that.

I think you are right. I wonder if the current SGA is even aware this was a thing. I also wonder why they gave it up to begin with.

The student section has (with rare exceptions) been sparse since mid way through Benford’s first year. It took years for JJ to build the student support we had back then and a couple months to destroy it. I think if we can keep this momentum going until school starts in the spring you’ll see it pick back up.

Really an embarrassing performance tonight. Nothing to sugar coat. Good news is this team is capable of playing much better. Crazy to score 100 and 40 in back to back games both against D1 opponents.

Right. I acknowledged the size issue. Preferably it would be a far away team with a smaller fan base and we could pack it on our own. It’s like an 18,000 seat stadium and very loud. I still think it would be fun. You’re right though, it’ll likely never happen for the size reason.

For what it’s worth Toyota Stadium is a phenomenal football venue and would be a blast. Obvious negative is how hard the ticket would be to get.

This may not be the most exciting of bowl games for the fans (I mean, we all wanted to be playing a P5 team close to home) but when you step back and think about it, it sure as heck beats losing to an FCS school by 59...and that wasn't THAT long ago.

I wonder what chance we have of keeping the assistant coaches that put this recruiting class together.

Is that a thing? I would imagine what's done is done at this point. We just need to get as many people out there as possible, and hopefully get the best win of Seth Littrell's tenure. Also, hopefully it is still Seth LIttrell's tenure at that point.

If you really want to be humbled, go to the Utah State sites and read what THEY think of US. It will sound pretty familiar. This is a tougher match up than any P5 we could have faced. Only wild card is the coaching change, but we may be dealing with that too.
