Really disappointing crowd right now...hopefully this fills in over the next 10 minutes.

We are at 2,820 for the year total. 3,059 for games against D1 competition. 3,700 per game this calendar year and that is going to continue rising. Could the numbers be better? Sure. But things are trending the right way.

We are almost back to where we were at the end of JJs tenure. Only about 1.5 years after the program was decimated for half a decade. Things could be worse.

When 2027 rolls around those games against Baylor will probably be Conference games.

Right. But he didn’t just catch and shoot. He grabs it with his left hand. Brings it together with his right hand. Does a jump stop. Then turns around and shoots it.

I haven’t taken a stopwatch and timed it myself, but there’s no way that play took less than .5 seconds. Edit: that’s so short a period of time a stopwatch probably doesn’t even help.

Yes. Pera and McCasland shook hands and chatted for a moment in the handshake line. Seemed cordial.

For me, none of that seems like obstacles that can’t be overcome relatively easily if there’s a desire to stay in the Super Pit. I think there should be. Others don’t. And that’s totally fine.

The NT Athletics master plan says 6-7k for capacity. Whether that is the right number or not I think is TBD. It could be. For what it’s worth there is absolutely enough space down there to fix the locker room issues. Those bathrooms could also be renovated to match upstairs. All of that would be WAY cheaper than building an entire new arena. There may be some mechanical and/or structure issues that make the Super Pit as a long term home a problem, but in general, my opinion is that a new arena should be a very low priority.

I hope we get Texas Southern on the schedule next year in Denton.

True. I will say playing on the road is hard. And UAB is a good home team (10-1). If the game were in SA it may have been different. Regardless this is probably our toughest conference game yet.

Big game Thursday.

The atmosphere is back. That will lead to more people. We aren’t going to overnight start filling the super pit. When we are deciding what size arena to build it needs to be after seeing what crowds look like after a couple more years of this. Things basically started over last year after 5 years of terrible. We are already almost back to what took JJ 10 years to build. I think this is headed in a direction we will all be thrilled with. Edit: I think even though buried under the Benford era, the foundation of what JJ built is still there and in some ways being built off of today.

Kind of like feeling disappointed with a 9-won football team? I’ll feel better when we win the next 3 and sit at 19-2. But would’ve been really sweet to get to 20-1.

But the travel was like, really obvious. It wasn’t a borderline foul call. It’s the equivalent of tackling someone on a personal foul.

Is that supposed to be comforting??? Haha.

I just hope our fans still turn out for this 3 game homestand. I always worry about our turnout coming off of a bad loss. 16-2 or not.

We didn’t play our best game but fought hard to get back in it. Only to have the refs allow their player to take 5 steps and hit the game winning basket. I hope we see these guys again. I also hope this loss doesn’t kill our home crowds next 3 games. A loss to UTSA is embarrassing.

Maybe I just don’t know basketball, but Simmons literally jumped straight up. Got pushed in the chest by the UTSA player. Simmons then blocked the ball clean and somehow gets called for the foul.

The UTSA player had his feet moving all over the place.
