The games are moved up again tomorrow. La Tech and Marshall play at 9am followed by NT and MTSU at 11am. Time for us to start scoring some runs tomorrow.

In this format the benefit of the bye is mostly avoiding the single elimination knock out round. (See: WKU) Also, while pitchers can theoretically go every game it is far from ideal when multiple games per day are clustered together in consecutive days. No more room for error tomorrow. Have to go 2-0. Still don’t even know the opponent as MTSU/La Tech was pushed back to this evening.

Early morning softball action tomorrow. NT/Marshall moved to 9:30am because of weather.

I actually disagree. We had a great year but not quite at large worthy. RPI in mid 50s is too low. The mid week losses to Southland teams hurt badly. Edit: corrected to RPI too low to get an at large. Not too high.

It’s more than coaching. Good players want to play there. The most recent attendance figures I could find quickly is 2017. ULL was 5th nationally with nearly 2,000 per game. They are relevant because fan support makes them relevant. It’s the same thing we could be doing for all of our teams but our fan base, in general, chooses not to.

The co champion thing is nonsense. We have tiebreakers for a reason. And I would say the exact same thing if it were the other way around.

This board has a long history of only considering people transferers when they leave the program rather than joining.

Yes, we split our doubleheader today, but La Tech lost at USM. If NT wins tomorrow at noon we win our first conference championship and get the #1 seed for the conference tournament. I can almost feel the collective eye roll from those that only peruse this football board, but when our teams are having success they deserve support. It’s time to jump on the bandwagon. I HIGHLY encourage you to make it out at noon tomorrow. Today was a blast and now we control our own destiny with only one game left.

Had every opportunity to win game 2 but stalled every time it mattered. Still have a shot at title if La Tech loses, but most important is winning tomorrow and locking up #2 seed at worst.

I believe we have to win two. We are two games clear of WKU but they have the tiebreak. I assume WKU will sweep UTSA.

Mods can move if they wish, but when any of our teams are playing for conference championships, it should get football board publicity. Opponent is Middle Tennessee. Double Header Saturday beginning at 1pm. Game 3 on Sunday at noon. If NT wins all three it is guaranteed the CUSA regular season championship and #1 seed in the conference tournament by virtue of its head to head tiebreaker with La Tech. We need to pack the stadium this weekend with fans. Even if you haven't paid the least bit of attention to softball so far this year, make a point to go out and support. If you demand big time wins before supporting a team, well this team has them. Two top 25 wins including one over a top 10 team (and that team is STILL in the top 10 today). Almost certainly the biggest series in the history of NT softball. Let's pack the stadium for it. GMG!

Huge series next weekend. This is one of those instances where this needs pub on the football board. Where people show up to support whether they regularly follow softball or not. We failed to do that as a fan base for the women’s basketball team in the WBI. We definitely need to do it now for softball.

Yes but we would still have to win out or we would lose the tiebreak to WKU ( assuming Western wins out).

La Tech won both against WKU today so we are clear of Western in the loss column and have the tie break over La Tech. If we can win out (easier said than done with 4 games left) we will be the #1 seed.

La Tech beat WKU in game 1 of their series. So it’s a 3 way tie at the top for now. La Tech up in game 2 as well.

As NT fans we should never take anything for granted. Ever.

That’s a good point. I actually didn’t realize they haven’t lost at all since playing us. La Tech still has series against WKU (Ruston) and Marshall (Huntington). I think if we can avoid a sweep at WKU we may be able to win this.
