Like it or not, the correct answer is fan support. If we were putting in 60k a game, it would be impossible for the P5 to ignore us. And before you say “but we are in CUSA, we could never draw those types of crowds”. I say why not. All it requires is for our people to have pride and support for our school. Opponent shouldn’t matter.

No. But I think those types of stats are much more telling when end of year record is used.

I’m not comparing Littrell to Benford as far as the eras go. I’m comparing the build up to that basketball season to this football season as well as the ensuing disappointment.

This regression couldn’t have come at a worse time. The fan base was really starting to build. Now it’s blow out after blow out just like the old days. What’s done is done. This team needs to pull it together and go 8-4.

Even if we do get to 6 wins it’s a massive, massive disappointment. This feels very similar to Benfords first year when we had all those returning starters and it was being advertised as our most talented team ever. Only to then go like 12-20.

I certainly don’t consider myself an expert, but I do follow the program pretty close. I think she already has the institutional resources to get back to the top of CUSA. It’s just a matter of doing it. I think she’s done a respectable job, but have to think the pressure is in the beginning stages of building up. The only times in the last two decades this team hasn’t been absolutely atrocious is when Mitchell has either been a player or coach.
