***OFFICIAL UNT vs CHARLOTTE FAN IN-GAME DISCUSSION***
Mean Green Matt replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
You are such a pessimist. 18 seconds. -
How sure are we about the “thank goodness” part?
-
Giving start up teams memorable moments is an old past time of ours. Very disappointing.

Anyone going to the Charlotte game?
Mean Green Matt replied to letsgiveacheer's topic in Mean Green Football
Charlotte has a beautiful campus. FWIW. -

I fully believe SMU is going to get run off the field this week at Memphis. -

Is @UNT 90 Grad the one giving Littrell private jet access? -
Charlotte 10/26 Predictions...and go!
Mean Green Matt replied to Philip Ferguson's topic in Mean Green Football
Unless they had some complications yesterday I’m not aware of, getting on a 2.5 hour charter flight really isn’t that big of a deal. -
Anyone going to the Charlotte game?

Anyone doing anything before the game other than a Half marathon... @untcampbell -
None of it matters if we don’t win in Ruston (and Denton twice, and Charlotte and Houston).

Will be there. Going to the game with a Charlotte local (Clemson grad) who I’m sure will be very impressed with CUSA football. -
Win Out and We Are CUSA Western Division Champions
Mean Green Matt replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Football
Maybe, but you never know how this team may grow in the coming weeks. -
Will be a good chance for some revenge. But we have work to do between now and then for it to even be a meaningful game.
-
It looks like the only two challenges left on USMs schedule are WKU and @ FAU. We obviously can't afford to lose ANY of our remaining games, but it would really uncomplicate things if USM would lose one of those. Winning in Ruston again is going to be really really tough, and I just saw that La Tech will be coming off of a bye...

Why do you assume it was a guy in the squirrel costume?
-
Not even worth having a debate with you if all you’re going to do is put words in my mouth (over and over again). Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and GMG!
-
If this is just a silly bit to be trotted out every once in a while, so be it. It was kind of funny. I hope the albino squirre isn’t a mascot used every game though.

Well, Travy, your bizarre rant about being forced to go to games (which only you have brought up) continues to miss the point. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree about whether significant fan support can pull a program out of the doldrums. It most certainly can and we have the numbers to do it. We just don’t. And if the attitude is that anytime we play a couple of bad games that this team deserves 5,000 people in the stands, we never will.
-
And I find the idea that alumni and fans don’t play a part in this to be more than quite amusing.
-
This is college sports. It is a little different than just being a product for consumption. No one donates money to the Dallas Cowboys over and above what it costs to go to the games. The connection is different and the reaction from our fan base should not be “well the team lost badly the last couple games, I don’t care anymore”. The reason this program is where it is is just as much our fault as it is the people that actually work for the athletic department.
-
Obligated is your word. Not mine.
-
We could probably play pretty bad and still beat UTEP.
-
Let’s just for a second assume our fan base had TAMU levels of commitment and pride. Actually, not even that much, just something of that type. Pair that with our sheer number of people (ignoring any casual fans). We could be putting in 50k a game. Every game. If we were doing that do you really think we would be stuck in CUSA? Most people would give CUSA as a reason we can’t do that. And that attitude is why we are where we are. The “this team deserves that crowd” attitude is not helpful.
-
Disagree. Fans are part of the program. If we had a fan base that showed up no matter what we wouldn’t be in CUSA right now. We have a part to play in all of this.
