Once again, Mason is a great player, but this "once in a lifetime" and "generational player" talk is way premature. Sure, some things probably are. He basically started all 4 years. It may be a while before we have that again. He is an incredible underdog story, ultimately becoming what will probably be a top 30 all time NCAA passer. We may not get another one of those for a long time because it pretty much requires starting all four years. But I refuse to believe we will never have another elite quarterback.

If I'm being honest, if you told me we could win one of this basketball game and the soccer game against Arkansas on Friday, I'd take the soccer game in a heartbeat. Now we just have to actually win that soccer game.

As much as I love Mason, for some reason it is hard for me to see him being drafted. I really hope he does, but I think a lot of teams are going to be concerned about durability.

Also, 35 of the top 36 teams in RPI got into the field. The lone exception was FAU at #32.

Hard to explain. We ended the year with an RPI of 47. Granted, RPI is not the end all be all, but we also have been in this 3 years in a row. It is time they show us a little respect, but it might take winning one of these to actually get it. Of the 64 teams, we have the 43rd highest RPI which would suggest a 10 or 11 seed. It should be noted that in soccer there are more regional considerations than in basketball and technically only the top 16 are seeded. We have the second best RPI of any team facing a 3 seed (the lone exception being Iowa at #45 RPI facing Kansas). Last year was an even bigger travesty when we had to face a top 10 team despite our RPI of 30. We took that top 10 team to double OT before losing. Back to this year, 3 of the teams playing a 4 seed have an RPI OVER 100. The exception being Pepperdine one spot ahead of us at 46. TCU at #55 in RPI gets a cushy game against #40 RPI Arizona. Lipscomb at #112 RPI gets #28 Louisville. #224 Northern Colorado gets #43 Colorado. These are the most egregious examples of teams that got a much better draw. We are just going to have to win one of these and maybe the committee will quit doing this to us.

They only seed the top 16 I believe. After that it’s primaeily regional considerations. For instance last year with a 30 RPI we had to play top 10 TAMU. I’m sure TAMU wasn’t thrilled either as it took double OT to beat us.

5-2 NT. Maybe we can just try and enjoy today. 20 minutes of defense left for a conference title. Unfortunately this is the only one of our teams that does this with any regularity.

Exactly. Think of it like the chart for a stock that has made gains over a period of time. There are periods where things dipped down but the overall trajectory was up when you look big picture. I am as frustrated as anyone but Seth has more than earned the benefit of the doubt for this just being a down year.
