  1. Yes X & Os. @Travisis the one that really swayed me on this. I’m not referring to changing style for one opponent. I’m talking about changing style for all opponents and being more competitive in the long run. This team is unfortunately schemed to win CUSA and CUSA only.
  2. First of all, we do play a pretty open style right now. Most of the time I think I see them in a 4-4-3. But there is no real rhyme or reason to it. We, generally, just blast the ball forward and let our players run onto it. This works when you play against inferior competition. It’s the equivalent of throwing a Hail Mary every time. When you have receivers a foot taller than the cornerbacks, you are going to win more than you lose. we have talented soccer players. But he doesn’t take advantage of it by teaching them tactical soccer. The excuse that we are playing top teams is tired. We have the same draw when we get to the tournament in men’s basketball and I don’t recall that being an overarching excuse for being generally non competitive. As to your last paragraph, and I used to be on your side of it but am no longer, the fact that he’s successful is irrelevant. He has raised his own bar for the program. And he’s been stalled for about 15 years.
  3. He could change the style of play for starters. His style of play is incongruent with beating teams of similar or superior athletic ability. We win in CUSA because we simply put-athlete the competition.
  4. Sure, never give up. But it’s not really a difficult decision, is it?
  5. Only Biles knows exactly what is going on inside her own head, but if she knows her mind isn’t right, I do not blame her for not wanting to risk injury trying some of those jumps. As is inevitable in society, some will take a more cynical view. But gymnastics isn’t like running a mile where the worst thing that can happen is a bad time.
  6. I don’t think anyone else is going to get invited to the party. It will be lower tier P5s getting kicked out. Teams like SMU, Houston, and even UCF don’t bring anything of value in the grand scheme of things.
  7. I don’t necessarily disagree with you, and think that long of an extension may be premature. BUT of all of our coaches in history, she’s probably the one that deserves the most benefit of the doubt. I’ve met her once when she sat right behind us at the football game at SMU a few years ago. She LOVES North Texas. It’s not one of those “I’m a big supporter because I’m on the payroll” sort of things. I wish her and her team received more support from us.
  8. I have no doubt we are actively looking and evaluating opportunities. It’s very likely to not matter.
  9. Definitely. He’s the only coach of ours that I recall saying publicly his goal is to win a national championship at North Texas. Maybe other than 1950s golf coach.
  10. The situations are completely different. Mccasland is a proven winner and still relatively young with lots to prove. Mccarney was a long time head coach with a 30-game under .500 record that found a sweet no pressure retirement gig at North Texas. Edit: to be clear I’m emphasizing your point which I agree with 100%. It doesn’t really read that way.
  11. I would honestly recommend you start preparing yourself for nothing good coming of this for us.
  12. Same pretty much. Not much buzz around the olympics as a whole it seems.
  13. The endowment would essentially fund the MGSF annually.
  14. She must have seen that NCAA tournament game and decided she just couldn’t do the Purdue thing anymore.
  15. Needed a 67. Shot a 71.
  16. I don’t like being Debbie Downer, but what exactly about our recent pas makes you think this will be the case?
  17. He probably needs another 67 or 66 tomorrow. There are lots of chasers.
  18. We are a lot more like the investment of Texas and the results of Kansas.
  19. Yep. Typical Sunday, unfortunately.
  20. I mean, at least it wasn’t Lee Jackson anymore.
  21. Looks to be playing with Lanto Griffin who I believe he’s had a few rounds with recently. Should be comfortable.
  22. I (admittedly) haven’t done much reading on reactions to this new policy, but I’m in the group that thinks it is simultaneously the right thing to do, and also severely damages the spirit of college sports.
