You don’t think we can average 60 points per game on offense?

TCU, SMU, North Texas primed for improvement

Agree. You are what your record says you are. You either score more points than the other team or you don’t. -
LSU to Require Vaccination Proof or Negative Test

Aren’t you also an FC Dallas guy? Truly a masochists list of sports teams you have. -
Really not a bad season for them. Keep their cards (they have some exemptions anyway). Their world ranking gets them into a lot of events as well. Hopefully we can get someone else on tour. I know we have a couple of guys in Europe giving it a go.

CUSA Football Stadiums: Ranked 1-13
Mean Green Matt replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I have not. It’s only FAU, Charlotte, Rice, Louisiana Tech, and Southern Miss for me. I don’t think I’m forgetting any. Most away games have been non-conference for me. I haven’t even been to the Alamodome…not missing much there though. -
It really shouldn’t be. SMU adds nothing of value for anyone. We don’t either. But they are right there with us at the end of the day.

ESPN's way too early Bowl Picks

Thanks buddy! -
I’m certainly no psychologist, but it’s a bit of a double edged sword. I think any kind of censorship and/or content control over thoughts and ideas (even in the name of combating “misinformation” - a term which is unfortunately it’s own special quagmire) actually feeds those thoughts and ideas because it’s easily portrayed as “THEY are censoring it because THEY don’t want you to know the truth”.

I’m lamenting my own missed opportunity for the “bold strategy, cotton” gif. -

It doesn’t do harm to the men’s final four. It does massive benefit for the women’s final four. -
So, I’m not expressing an opinion one way or the other on the overall points you are making, but with regard to the “vaccine” definition argument, the focus in your bolded text should be on “immunity”. There are different types of immunity. There are, actually, at least a few injections colloquially called vaccines that do not produce sterilizing immunity (complete resistance to infection) at high levels. The flu vaccine is the first that comes to mind. It’s possible you’d also argue that is not a vaccine (which is fine). At least as we stand today, I think it’s clear the vaccines are providing some level of protection based on hospitalization rates by vaccine status. How things shake out in the long term is obviously impossible to predict.

So I made the point that all of this started when money got out of hand for everyone but the athletes. You responded, essentially with “who actually makes money?”. Which is a fair point. To which my point is schools are going to have to decide which playing field they want to compete on. Is North Texas going to try to go the semi pro route, or will it stick with the traditional college sports route. The sad reality for us and many (which I think is your point) is that we weren’t even remotely competitive before any of this NIL stuff started (which is why I mentioned our history). Perhaps I misinterpreted your point about opportunities for athletes, but those are going to be there no matter what because the lower tier of college sports is going to stay intact just like it is now. Hello Hardin Simmons Cowboys! Probably with some new additions!
-
I know it’s not what we do on this board, but I would set the bar very very low and then be pleasantly surprised no matter what happens.
-
Well, I suppose schools are just going to have to decide what they want to be. I’m quite certain Hardin Simmons is going to continue fielding a football team and providing great opportunities for Its athletes despite this NIL stuff. The top sports at the top level are inevitably turning semi pro. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that. It just is what it is. Now, if the angst is about NT suddenly not being able to compete (not that this was your point specifically), I have some bad news about the last 40 years.

Oh I’m with you 100%. The old way was only sustainable for so long once everyone was making millions of dollars but the players.
