  1. Well you have to get to 8 for the other sports right? It sounds like the Newly empowered Sun Belt is telling UTA and UALR to pound sand. So there’s two. If you are down to 5 members you’ve got to find 1 more all sports even if you solve the football problem with a hodgepodge of middling independents.
  2. Women’s Lacrosse would be fun. Not even being sarcastic.
  3. Sun Belt decided to go for the jugular. Tough spot for the remaining CUSA teams. Maybe take NMSU, UCONN and UMASS football only? Then get UALR and UTA for the rest of the sports and try to convince NMSU to bring their others to get to 8?
  4. Probably in the minority, but I really couldn’t care less whether we even play SMU or not. With that said, until this bizarre Littrell meltdown the last few years, we were basically even with SMU post death penalty. So their assertions that it’s a super lopsided series are asinine.
  5. It really is bizarre to see SMU, a program whose only meaningful historical success was the product of rampant cheating, use the aforementioned “success” as the lens through which it determines who is worthy of their presence.
  6. This is a very misleading angle to view a crowd from.
  7. I’m guessing the conference office made them do it. Remember their official account tweeting that we were trash just over a month ago.
  8. Sort of, yes. But remember when we joined CUSA everyone said, "this is Sun Belt 2.0"? Only one of those schools is coming with us: FAU. This feels like another step removed for me from the Sun Belt. Let's all just enjoy this and root our you know what's off for the Green Wave tonight.
  9. Best news I’ve heard all day.
  10. It’s a message board.
  11. If the PAC12 were interested in a religious school they’d have taken BYU.
  12. With all due respect, of course?
  13. We didn’t win consistently in CUSA, the Sun Belt (except for 2001-2004), or the Big West. We haven’t won with relative consistency since the Southland.
  14. Well, Jim, I’m saying I’ll be pleasantly surprised if we ever win consistently in the AAC.
  15. Where are their new homes? The Big 12 very well may just stay at 12. The more they add the more they dilute the revenue share. Maybe the ACC, but that will probably require a couple of defectors from the ACC first.
  16. I didn’t read this whole thread, so it’s possible someone said this already, but if you guaranteed me we would win consistently in the AAC I would take that deal and not even ask you for the timeline.
  17. I’ll preface this with I think Memphis might leave the AAC. But it’s no guarantee. I don’t think SMU is going to have any serious takers until their own people take them seriously. Interestingly, we have the same problem. In any event, if those teams leave I would, my first choice would be staying at 12. My second choice would be adding Liberty (hate their politics all you want but they throw big boy money at their athletic program) and then look at all of the teams in CUSA and SBC and see who is least offensive.
  18. I think you could make a good argument the teams chosen by the AAC bring more than just TV markets.
  19. It’s a message board.
  20. Are you sure Marshall wasn’t briefly ranked a few years ago….not that that would change your overall point.
  21. This is actually a really good fit for USM And Marshall. The Sun Belt is way better now than when we were in it.
  22. This. And the reality is that the basketball program gets deference almost every time. And it’s not like they need the SP to practice anymore.
