  1. Thanks UNTLifer. I did talk to the people today from my hall that were not excited last night and they enjoyed it and plan on going again!!! I am not sure what the attitudes were from the other halls going into it, but they were rowdy enough that I would assume that even if they did not want to go, they ended up having fun...It sure does help that we have a good home basketball team, because when the university really advertises the games to the students, and they come see us win, they want to come back. I honestly believe you will see a lot of those people back to more games. RHA is having another night on the 17th of January with all of the students moved back in. Go Mean Green!!!
  2. That's right. Anyone that's in a leadership position for the Residence Hall Association was required to be there last night. Sadly enough most of the people from my hall were complaining about it. Hopefully a fun time will get them all back, cuz RHA was 80% if not more of the student crowd last night.
  3. It doesn't really matter which conference has more teams in bowl games. Yeah, CUSA has more connections to bowls, but it really comes down to who wins the games. The Sun Belt had a WINNING RECORD last year against cusa and tied them this year. Regardless, CUSA is just gonna act like smu did when we beat them in 2006, they are gonna keep talking trash, but 1 on 1 can't back it up.
  4. I was at a Champs Sports in Garland last week and they had two different t-shirts, a hat, and a beanie. I asked one of the guys working there why that was all they had and he said the University won't allow them to produce most of the merchandise that we want. Not sure if this is true or not, but he put the blame on the marketing department for athletics.
  5. I know that the odds are slim, but im not 100% sold on us only getting one team in the tournament this year. With out of conference records going into conference play, if any combination of UNT, WKU, UNO, USA, and/or UALR could both theoretically run the table in the Sun Belt, I could see the possiblity of an at-large bid. I know Sun Belt schools get snubbed a lot, but its hard to ignore a team with less than 5 losses...Just a possibility.
  6. We need the 1 seed to have a decent shot at an at-large NCAA bid if we lose in the SBC Tournament.
  7. Here are just a few things from a guy that sees the campus everyday... 1) By what it sounds like Jesse is spending way too much time at SMU to realize what is going on at UNT 2) We have more than one nice dorm, I assume people think victory is the only nice one. Brand new are Legends and Honors halls, Traditions is awesome, as well as Santa Fe Trail. Not to mention plans to improve Bruce Hall, which would remove the window units, making Bain Hall, I believe that last building on campus with said units. 3) They planted flowers all along Ave. C, all around the Administration Building, redid the Gazebo by the Union, planted trees and put benches there. If you go see that you should check out the redone library mall too, but it might just be too painful to look at our ugly library...right? The only reason we need a new library is because they are running out of room, not because it is ugly! 4) smu has a nice campus, but we have nothing to be ashamed of. Whoever says the architecture of Matthews Hall, the Business Building, Administration, Biology, and Clark and Maple dorms is not collegiate and beautiful is nuts. Quit adding to the smuts ego and just let them count their money. Our campus is awesome. For anyone who disagrees I guess your only option is to brown-nose the smut fans becuase for some ridiculous reason you feel inferior. Go MEAN GREEN!!!
  8. I'll be there in the pit crew section, and both my UNT alum parents will be at both the games as well.
  9. If smu actually had any intelligence they would just set a minimum donation, so this sort of thing would not happen, but they don't...I sure hope when we start this stuff we think to set the minimum level.
  10. I agree completely ColoradoEagle, just remember that if we do put a grassy hill in he other endzone, and just have two sidelines equalling 35,000, there are always seats to add where the hill is and the upper decks to get us over 50,000.
  11. So true about Vic Trilli...At least they changed the seats from orange to green during that time! I vote for 40,000 to start, but won't complain if 35K actually happens.
  12. This was just a bad night to get a big crowd. Should it have been packed? YES! If you count our huge alumni base and student body, but it just wasn't. People seem to be more ready to complain about the attendance than to praise our team for winning their second game of a long, hard season. The Utah State game in 97' was a great game. As was Oregon State in 95' I believe (could be wrong on the year, I was only 6), and we had small crowds for those games. This year, for our first three games against SUN BELT SCHOOLS, we averaged almost 20,000 fans!!! People are getting criticized for saying we aren't there yet, BUT ITS A FACT THAT WE ARE NOT. That does not mean that there has not been a steady flow of improvement over the last few years. The students are not nearly as apathetic at they used to be, and that shows in football attendance, and Basketball. That one game with only 5,000 fans there will do nothing to stop us from where we are headed. Go Mean Green! -Matt
  13. I am pretty sure that everyone was frustrated with the attendance. Truth is, everything was against us in trying to get people out there. I am a student, and I was there, so according to previous conversation I reserve the right to speak about this. I was one of about 20 students that I saw, but the students were not on campus. I came back to my dorm on Sunday, and did not see a person for hours...There is no need to just argue amoungst ourselves, and cut each other down. It was ONE GAME, and though disappointing attendance wise, it is in the past, and thank God we came out on top. Thank You to all who were there, those are true fans, but that does not mean it is all of them. Some people could just not make it. GO MEAN GREEN! BEAT FIU!
