I figured out these seeds mostly because of my own OCD about knowing how things are shaping up, but figured I would share my findings. As usual, the "official" SBC standings are incorrect, and do not incorporate the tiebreakers. These seeds are as if the SBC Soccer Tournament started today, with all tiebreakers taken into account. Each team has 3 games remaining. The number in subscript is the UNT result vs. that team this season. Qualified Teams #1. Denver (NP)........................................8-0 SBC #2. Middle Tennessee (OT Loss 2-1, Away).....6-2 SBC #3. Western Kentucky (Loss 1-0, Away).........6-2 SBC #4. North Texas......................................6-2 SBC #5. Florida International (Win 2-1, Home).......5-3 SBC #6. Troy (Win 3-1, Away)..............................4-4 SBC #7. Florida Atlantic (Win 5-0, Home)..............3-5 SBC #8. Louisiana-Lafayette (Win 4-0, Home)........3-5 SBC Eliminated: #9. Arkansas State (NP)...........................3-5 SBC #10. Arkansas Little-Rock (NP).................2-6 SBC #11. South Alabama (Win 2-0, Away)............2-6 SBC #12. Louisiana-Monroe (Win 4-0, Home)........0-8 SBC Points of Interest: UNT is in a three-way tie for second place with WKU and MTSU, but loses any tiebreaker with either, or any combination of those two teams. WKU and MTSU still must play each other, so one of those teams will end with at least 3 losses. UNT should finish at 9-3 worst case scenario if it loses away to #21 Denver in the last game of the year. If UNT can beat Denver, the Mean Green are guaranteed no less than the #3 seed in the tournament. I'll update these seeds after the next round of games on Thursday.

Would A New Coach Right Now Make Sense?
Mean Green Matt replied to Travis Scott's topic in Mean Green Football
It's not about winning games this year. That is probably not going to happen no matter who is at the helm, and, in my mind at least, there is no difference between 1-11 and 3-9. What is important is that we give ourselves enough time to find a quality coach, and once that happens, give him enough time to hit the recruiting trail hard, and with success. I think the sooner the change is made the better, that way an official coaching search can start. -
I always find it odd when universities have their direction last. North Carolina...Central. I guess Central North Carolina does not sound great either...I guess they just were not blessed with a great location. Thankfully, we do have more resources than they do.

Which Of The 42 (Men's) Home
Mean Green Matt replied to MeanGreenTexan's topic in Mean Green Basketball
The one where Texas pitched a no-hitter and we still won the game 1-0! As far as basketball, for me, nothing compares to the OSU game...unless of course the stars align on Tuesday, Nov. 16th from 7-9pm. -
They had a good weekend, but none of those players are CUSA material...right? Or, do you only question the quality of players that UNT recruits? Surely not, ya'll claim that up on the hilltop you are not concerned with the lowly school up north...right?...

From right under the Mike Leach blurb... "North Carolina Central: We have learned that head coach Mose Rison will be replaced today by assistant coach Darryl Bullock. We hear Rison will continue to work at the university." Proof that other schools use reassignment, albeit North Carolina Central.

I did not say anything about an interim coach, or even when the change should occur. Interim coaches do lead to head coaches though... The whole point of the article is about the excitement level heading into the new stadium. If Todd Dodge is still the coach, I expect it to be significantly lower than if we have a new coach, with new hope. I don't think the number of wins we end up with this year will have any effect, because realistically 3 is the highest that number will get.

So, Looks Like No Announcement...
Mean Green Matt replied to NCMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't understand why RV would wait until next Monday. Unless he needs one week to get the interim plan in place. I would hope he already had it planned out just in case it got to this point though. -
On the radio show they made it sound like a nasty break. He broke it bracing himself for the fall after he got run into. He went to the hospital Saturday night, and got a cast put on. He is having surgery tomorrow...they will need to rebreak the arm, set it (maybe with screws), and he should recover 100%. Thankfully for Will it was his arm and not his leg.

So, Looks Like No Announcement...
Mean Green Matt replied to NCMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm really hoping for the radio show to contain some sort of announcement...but I doubt it. -
After looking around the league to see other results, we are in a three way tie for second, but lose the tiebreakers. So...If the conference tournament started today we would be the #4 seed. FIU took #21 Denver to overtime but lost 1-0. We need Denver to lose at least one game before we play them (last game of the season) to have a shot at the conference title.

Absolute dominant performance from the Mean Green. 3 goals were scored from pretty far out, including two beautiful lobs over the top of the FAU goalkeeper. To be fair though, their goalkeeping was definitely lacking. UNT moves to 6-2 in conference, and will likely remain in a tie for second place (I have not checked the other results yet). I want it to be Monday, but I think it will come at the end of the season. Anything sooner will be a very pleasant surprise. The team is in shambles right now, we just need make the change.

I would pick the WKU game from 2007 as well. It was raining and in the mid 30's for temperature. There were maybe 500 people in the stands (because of season tickets it was announced at like 5,600). The fight at the end was pretty funny. Some WKU guy threw his helmet. 27-26 was the score if I remember right.

Darrell Dickey-Esque Crowd Late In The Game
Mean Green Matt replied to Cr1028's topic in Mean Green Football
14,718 announced. The crowd looked about the same as last week, so they reporting seems consistent. -
Just Got Home From The Game...
Mean Green Matt replied to McKinneyMiner's topic in Mean Green Football
I spent the first quarter in the student section, but not wanting to listen to all the negative comments and watching the students mass migration first hand after homecoming court was announced, I went to sit with my parents on the alumni side. We left at the end of the third quarter. I could not take it anymore being down 31 to FIU. I did listen on the radio on the way home... -
By the way, the FIU athletic department showed up with a police escort towards the end of the game...just in time to see their soccer team lose. Hopefully the same happens to their football team tomorrow.
-
I watched from the parking lot this game with my gf and our new puppy. Great strike from Michelle Young to take the 2-1 lead. UNT dominated this game. The FIU goal came off of a BS penalty kick call that the ref got lambasted for. Great win for the Mean Green! We just need someone to trip up #25 Denver and we are back in the title chase even after the losses to MTSU and WKU.
-
It definitely is reflecting off the stadium...in fact, from Bonnie Brae it actually looks like AC is on fire.
-
That was lame beyond belief. The players were wearing their jerseys, but the stupid host did not even introduce the team or say where they were from. Good publicity if people read the jerseys, but a very poorly produced show.
-
Since the slope is different, that means all of the endzone seating will be torn out and replaced with concrete rakers to complete the bowl...unless we want it to look odd. The slope of the endzone appears steeper than the sidelines, and rises higher than the east and west sides already. I am pretty sure you are right that the east and west sides are the same height. It looks as though the student side is shorter, but that may be an optical illusion becuase the height of the upper portion is larger on the press box side, and the lower portion is higher on the student side. We will know for sure once we can count rows in the lower portion.

I am rooting for Dodge until the very end, and if he gets up to 5 wins, I may change my mind. Right now though, I just think that all excuses for his performance have been used up. I cannot think of another legitimate school that would put up with a 5-31 record through three years like UNT did. When I heard the "7-win ultimatum" I took it to mean 7-wins, no excuses. Most importantly to me though, he still has not shown the ability to win close games (except FAU). Even with the injuries we had the talent and ability to win against Rice, ULL, and ASU. Some people may blame the players for the close losses, but when it happens with this frequency over the last few years, I think the coaching is responsible. These close losses have the ability to disguise themsevles as a positive (as opposed to getting blown out), but they are really showing what I think is the biggest flaw in Dodge's coaching.
