The seeds were finalized tonight...this is how they worked out. 1. Denver 2. Middle Tennessee 3. North Texas 4. Florida International 5. Troy 6. Western Kentucky 7. Florida Atlantic 8. Louisiana-Lafayette. North Texas will take on Western Kentucky in the first round. A team that they lost to 1-0 on the road. Western Kentucky is hosting the tournament. This will not be an easy game at all, but the good news is that WKU has been in a slump recently. The tournament starts next Wednesday.

The vball team could have closed out mtsu in both the third and fourth sets, we just did not get many breaks when it counted. Pretty disappointing, but at least we know we can compete with them.

Boy, Wouldn't This Be Nice
Mean Green Matt replied to Censored by Laurie's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I am hoping that sometime this year he just turns it on and has a great game...not only because it would be good for the team, but because the crowd would go absolutely crazy. He is definitely one of my favorite players. Hopefully this extra year under his belt has him ready to do some great things. -
Coach Blakely Passes Away
Mean Green Matt replied to Mean Green 93-98's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I have heard many stories from my dad about what a great coach Bill Blakeley was, and how exciting his teams were to watch. I really wish I could have seen some of those games in person, but it was before my time. RIP Coach. Surely the Athletic Department will have some sort of ceremony before the Tech game. There will be a great crowd, and it will introduce this generation of students to a great era in the history of North Texas Basketball that they are probably not familiar with. -
Thats a good point. I'm exicited they are leaving because they don't have football, but getting rid of their soccer team is definitely a bonus.

I think you are pretty much the definition of an arrogant smu fan that just comes over here to cause trouble...not the recruiting insider that always gets the inside scoop, and who knows better than everyone else. I realize that the recruiting services are not always right, but your multiple statements discrediting them sure seem like a failing attempt to gain credibility. As far as Robinson goes, I would assume he decided he did not want to live in Utah, or something else came up, but I'm sure you have some "insider" BS story that none of us can confirm nor deny that Utah pulled the offer...or maybe even that the offer wasn't there at all. The FACT is that Robinson will be playing at UNT, and not smu. It's funny how everytime a recruit chooses UNT over the exoribitantly expensive and overrated education of smu...not to mention their SOOOO relevant athletics program there , suddently the word is that smu wasn't recruiting him after all. Sneaky, Sneaky HoopManX.

I don't remember this being posted, but apparently Eric Tramiel has found a team in the Israeli National League to play for. The team name is ELITZUR KOHAV YAIR/YUVAL. Here is a link to the team roster and the team page: Team Roster Team Page He is listed as one of the top players. There are 2 other Americans and one Israeli-American on the team. Way to go Eric!

I appreciate the response. I'm not debating the SMU/UNT thing. I think the classes are pretty much equal. To be honest, the only school I am really even concerned with recruiting wise is WKU, not SMU, and we have pulled back close enough to where I don't see them dominating the Belt for 4 years or anything. I respect your opinion, and although we don't really know where you get your info, or whether or not it is accurate, you do have plenty of it, so keep it coming. The only thing I don't like are the subtle comments that put down UNT. It is sort of like waving your flag in another country.

Spotted In Golden Triangle Mall @ Finishline
Mean Green Matt replied to MDH's topic in Mean Green Football
I have to go to wal-mart later anyway, so I think I'll stop by Finishline on the way. It is rediculous to put smu and tcu up front in Denton. -
You guys would have taken Robinson in a second, so cut the crap...I have to admit that smu and UNT both have good classes though. Just because I admit that does not mean that you are not a douche for coming over here and making comments like this. Save the condescending crap for phonyfans. I have ZERO problem when you contribute legitimate, no-spin info, even reasonable opinions, but usually what you say is either a backhanded compliment or a subtle insult.

Final matchday seeding scenarios for North Texas... North Texas gets the #2 seed: If UNT defeats 21st ranked Denver AND WKU defeats MTSU North Texas gets the #3 seed: If UNT ties or loses to #21 Denver OR MTSU defeats or ties WKU -
We got Brandan Walton, and they got...nothing!

I popped in after the soccer game, and the team looked great. Apparently the stat sheet was all South Alabama though. I'll take a win no matter how it happens. Good job vball team! Here is the game article: Stats Deceiving in Volleyball Comeback To be completely honest, I have no idea what most of those stats mean.

Under the circumstances, I'm not sure how the guy sees WKU as "very" beatable. My expectations for this year are just for our players to play hard and represent the university well. Even before the turmoil of the Dodge firing, we probably were not going to win another game. It is just something that had to be done when a coach reaches 6-37. At any other school he would have been done at 5-31.

Updated Standings (through 10/24). The Mean Green win today, paired with losses by FIU and WKU has guaranteed the Mean Green no less than the #3 seed, and the opposite side of the bracket from Denver. Also, the 8 teams that will compete in the SBC tournament have been set. Current #8 seed ULL holds tiebreaks over the only two teams that could catch them, so they have clinched the last spot in the tournament. No one moved up or down in the top 8 today, but with spots #4 and #5 tied, as well as #6 and #7 tied, the final day of action will be significant. Denver had a scare today playing at UALR, winning 3-2 in OT. Underlined teams have clinched a tournament spot. Teams whose name is struck through have been eliminated. Teams in blue are locked into their seed and cannot move up or down. The * denotes that Denver has clinched the regular season title. One game remains in the regular season. Qualified Teams #1. Denver* (NP)................................................................10-0 SBC #2. Middle Tennessee (OT Loss 2-1, Away).....................8-2 SBC #3. North Texas...............................................7-2-1 SBC #4. Florida International (Win 2-1, Home)........................6-4 SBC #5. Western Kentucky (Loss 1-0, Away).........................6-4 SBC #6. Troy (Win 3-1, Away)......................................................5-5 SBC #7. Florida Atlantic (Win 5-0, Home).................................5-5 SBC #8. Louisiana-Lafayette (Win 4-0, Home)........................4-6 SBC Eliminated: #9. Arkansas State (Win 2-0, Home)...............................3-7 SBC #10. South Alabama (Win 2-0, Away)..............................3-7 SBC #11. Arkansas Little-Rock (2OT Tie 1-1, Away)..............2-7-1 SBC #12. Louisiana-Monroe (Win 4-0, Home).........................0-10 SBC Points of Interest: UNT will either receive the #2 seed or the #3 seed in the tournament, depending upon the results this Friday. That means the first round opponent will be either the #6 seed, or the #7 seed. Which means our oppenent could be WKU, Troy, or FAU. Things will clear up on Friday. Go Mean Green! -

Louisiana-Lafeyette just knocked off FIU 2-1, which is HUGE for UNT as far as seedings go. UNT is currently tied at the half with ASU, who is fighting for a spot in the tournament. If we can pull out the win, we will likely end up with the #3 seed in the tournament. Updated standings will be posted later. -
So you don't think Leavitt deserves another chance? That same logic can be applied to Leach as well.
