  1. I don't even know how we combat them recruiting to the Big East...I suppose it would be much easier to do from CUSA.
  2. I assume playing bball teams like Pitt, Notre Dame, Uconn, Georgetown, West Virginia, Villanova, etc. at home will cause a significant increase in their basketball attendance. I can't fathom how it wouldn't. Oh, and Syracuse.
  3. I completely disagree. Have you noticed that any team not named: MTSU WKU FIU FAU ULL ULM ASU or Troy has done a pretty darn good job of getting fans out to Fouts. 23,000 for Rice, 16,000 for Ohio in the POURING rain. There are more examples. All of this while the football program has only been winning 2-3 games per year. I'll take that list of MWC schools any day of the week.
  4. I did not even think about that...but I think we will be fine. It will be huge for their basketball attendance for sure though.
  5. I'll say 85-77 UNT.
  6. Now that we have the new stadium, SMU should not be ahead of us anymore. I would put it pretty much even right now with UNT having significantly more upside.
  7. Most people thought Mccarney would not end up here either... ...
  8. Dan Mccarney always gives 109%...
  9. I would do NOTHING more than show up to their game wearing a North Texas T-shirt. Anything more is just asking...make that BEGGING for trouble.
  10. Canales said he is meeting with Mccarney this week. That makes me think it is a done deal. I'm holding onto that 1% chance until the very end though. I think we should have moved to our second choice as soon as he said he had to think about it.
  11. Makes no sense.
  12. This can't be true. I don't think RV would allow a guy who is 30 games under .500 to be the "guy" from day one after promising a national search. Time will tell as more details about the process leak out, but I won't be convinced Mccarney is the new coach until I see him sitting next to RV on Tuesday.
  13. Just checking, haha. I will support whoever it is (although at this point I want Fran). I have to believe that if Mccarney is really the man that RV and Lane Rawlins see something special in him, because he is definitely not going to be the most popular choice with the fanbase. Todd Dodge was a fairly popular choice in 2006, including with me, and he did not work out at all. The popular choice is not always the right choice. I just hope Mccarney is the right choice if all this speculation is true.
  14. If the last game at Fouts Field was not tomorrow, I would be at this game in a heartbeat.
  15. If that was in response to my mention of Texas State, I guess you did not read the last sentance... "No matter who RV announces on Tuesday though, we need to hop on the bandwagon and hope for the best."
  16. Mccarney may do well here, but if we start next year with Mccarney, and Texas State starts next year with Franchione, I have to wonder what the heck our administration was thinking... Also, I don't see what makes Mccarney worth almost 600k base salary...(if that number is true). No matter who RV announces on Tuesday though, we need to hop on the bandwagon and hope for the best.
  17. The game got really strange toward the end. The referee was terrible, but he was terrible both ways, so I guess it is hard to complain. Both of the Colorado goals were fluke goals, but hey, that is soccer. Hopefully this playoff run will gain some fan support for the team, which gets money for the club, and MAYBE we can bring in a Designated Player. Looking forward to next season, and the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!!!
  18. I am glad to hear there was a lot of green up there. It sounded like UNT had a good crowd on the radio. My first instinct is to agree with your point about starting freshmen and sophomores and to cut her some slack, but this begs the question as to why, in year 3 of her tenure are we still relying on transfers and underclassmen. Not to say there is not talent in those groups; I think there is. She has had issues in the past with player discipline, and keeping players in the program. I don't remember names, but several players have transferred out. This could be a problem. As far as what killed us today, most of them are things that WE did wrong, and not things that GW caused. This is a strong sign of a poorly coached team. I really like her as a person. She seems to have a good attitude, and for the few times I have talked to her she has been nice. It is just not happening on the court. I am NOT an expert, but I can't find a good excuse to losing to GW today, it just should not have happened. Just like with Todd Dodge, I will support her team until she gets fired, but she better start showing some improvement very quickly. MTSU, WKU, and UALR are 3 Sun Belt teams that at this point could beat us by more than 50 points if they wanted to.
  19. UNT down 10...GW ball.
  20. 32-26 George Washington. 15:51 left.
  21. 12-10 North Texas. 11:22 left 1st half.
  22. The game is about to tip off. Shanice Stephens was quoted in the NT Daily saying, "We're going to win the game." George Washington is 1-2 with its sole win coming over Coppin State. UNT lost by 2 points last year at the Super Pit. Coach Stephens really needs this one today.
  23. It does not help the program at all...but I do not think that this blowout is anything a string of wins can't fix.
