  1. NT down 3...50 seconds left.
  2. NT down by 8 now with just under 8:00 left to play. This team continues to show that they can play with the best teams in the Sun Belt. They lost by 5 to UALR, and led at the half against MTSU and WKU. This one is not looking promising for a win (still possible though), but how nice would it be to pull off an upset against one of those teams in the SBC tournament.
  3. Is the Pizza Hut Park game in the main stadium, or at one of the other fields in the complex? EDIT: Nevermind, I reread it and found my answer.
  4. Does this include the loss to MTSU last night? I was expecting us to take a bigger hit.
  5. This has to be her last year...I know it's just womens basketball, and we just spent a ton of money on the football program, but there is not way they can let this program slip even deeper into the abyss. I'm definitely still rooting for them, but turning things around at this point would be close to reaching miracle status.
  6. For the record, I was in no way implying I was expecting an upset, just reporting that they played a good half of basketball. It would not surprise me at all if we still lost by 30...but Go Mean Green!
  7. North Texas is playing their butts off, and is leading 36-35 at halftime. We were up by 7 at one point, but MTSU got 6 points back in the last couple minutes of the half. This would be a huge win for Coach Stephens.
  8. If it is, I am okay with that. It was well worth the 568 hits it got on Youtube.
  9. Speaking of Haka's...The actual chant starts at the 48 second mark...I am the guy in front leading the Haka. Great memories! This was at the 2007 Bonfire Yell Like Hell competition. The theme had something to do with James Bond, which is why we have a guy in a suit.
  10. The same concept as when to drink applies to this question. If UNT wins, you drink to celebrate. If UNT loses, you drink away your sorrows. There are reasons to drink either way.
  11. There have been a good amount of SBC home games since the last report 8 days ago. Winter Holiday games are winding down, and conference games are heating up. A guy on the SBC board informed me that Denver does not use the traditional semester system, so I decided to just forget it and not keep track of their winter holiday attendance because they are the odd ball. Western Kentucky is still in the lead in overall attendance average, and with their 7300+ crowd against Louisville has the largest crowd of the year. The only school I see with a chance of topping this is North Texas, and even that is unlikely. We would basically have to fill the arena for a conference game. If we keep winning we have a shot at it though. MTSU and North Texas are 2nd and 3rd respectively, and will likely be in a dog fight the rest of the year for 2nd place. ASU (whose attendance is all over the place, and yes even though they are currently in 7th place) may have a shot at the top 3 finish as well if their conference success continues. Lastly, Mike Jarvis and the FAU fighting owls...who many on here think are a contender for the SBC Championship, have once again fallen into last place, and are currently averaging less than 1000 fans per game. These numbers are accurate through the games on January 4, 2011. When all is said and done, I am going to try and do some statistical analysis like the guys that wrote Freakonomics and find out what factors were most important to attendance, and which schools did better and worse than they "should have". It should be fun!

  12. Their class won't be better than ours when we are done.
  13. Probably by doing the same sort of stuff that got them the death penalty...
  14. Lunardi picks WKU a lot because he has a thing for goats...he must be switching it up a little bit now because people are figuring it out.
  15. Wherever he ends up I'll be rooting for him. He played his butt off for us despite numerous injuries, and never quit, including playing 3 quarters with a broken wrist and only losing by a PAT. Good Luck Riley!
  16. If we can find a solid recruit to give that scholarship to before the end of the year, they should just play Spencer whenever he is healthy and forget about the redshirt. I am a Spencer fan, and we definitely could use him this year, but with the level of the recruiting class we have now, it seems as though come March we may have a better option than redshirting a guy who will only have 1-year left. Plus...the NCAA has a history of not allowing our special requests...
  17. I am really torn between which version I like better. The current version is the only one I have had ever heard, from when I was a little kid until graduating a few months ago. The older version is obviously better musically, but my gut has to side with the current version, probably because of mostly subconscious reasons. I'm not a fan of changing tradition. EVER. But changing back would be a change in tradition as well. I don't know, I never even knew the song had been changed, which should not have been allowed, but as a younger fan and alum who has heard the current version for 22 years, it would be hard to have it changed again. One thing I wish they would do is only play through it once after a touchdown, and end with the U-N-T-EAGLES Chant. That may represent a change in tradition to some as well. Messing around with tradiditions creates crap like this. Hopefully this new stadium will bring in an era that solidifies traditions, then we grow from there.
  18. I'm not sure where the team is staying. My best guess would be the Austin though. Both the Austin and the embassy will be full of teams/bands/fans for those days, so it should be really fun. P.S. If you are one of the guys that rode up on the bus last year then stayed the night at the austin, I think I may know you...
  19. I called the Hot Springs Embassy Suites a few minutes ago fully expecting that they would be fully booked, but they still have some open suites. The one I (actually my dad booked it I just did the research) booked was a two-room suite with two beds in the bedroom and a queen size pull out couch in a living area. It is $169/night. The Embassy is LITERALLY right across the street from Summit Arena, and has a covered walkway that goes right up to the arena box office. When I called there were 24 still available. I asked specifically if you had to work for the SBC or anything, and all they said was they had those rooms set aside for people that said they were coming for the basketball tournament. If you are going to the tournament this would be a great place to stay...but make your reservation soon if you plan on going! There are not a lot of hotels within walking distance of the arena, but the Embassy is one of them. Can't wait until March! Go Mean Green!
  20. I barely made it to this game. Had to drive straight from DFW Airport to Denton to get there a few minutes before tipoff. 1. I am THRILLED with the play of Ben Knox. He even received some noticeable clapping a couple times when he came to the bench for a breather. He is hustling, playing good defense, and really is starting to look as though there is a good amount of untapped potential within him. 2. It is very comforting to see us play that well without George. We need him desperately for this season, but some of these guys seem to be stepping up enough to where next year, we may not have to rely entirely on this recruiting class. The next game in Murfreesboro is not going to be easy. Middle does not seem to be an easy place to play, but we have the team to go in there and win! Go Mean Green!
  21. Interesting article. Apparently we are in a conference with LSU and Texas Tech now, and ULL has only played 8 road games in the last 13 years...proofreading is underrated.
  22. If Knox played 20+ minutes against LSU, surely he can handle OPSU. This is probably the game that he will throw down a monster dunk, and I won't be able to be there to see it.
