  1. Yep, those basketball only schools in Denver and Seattle really make up for the few negatives that exist...Being in a conference with an FCS school, another that is yet to play their first down of football, and a third that just restarted their program would certainly add instant credibiity and prestige to North Texas... Not to mention the honor of being in a conference with the "Harvard of the South" Louisiana Tech.
  2. We knew if he could recruit good Texas kids to Montana State that he could recruit them to North Texas. I agree with cl_1_2008 though, my expectations for where we would be at this point have been exceeded.
  3. After looking at all of the remaining schedules, it looks like the SBC really has the potential to turn into a giant cluster-(you know what).
  4. If the tournament started tomorrow we would play Troy in a first round game, with MTSU waiting in the quarterfinal...of course all of that will change when we are done with the 7-game win streak that is about to start.
  5. The match with TCU was postponed, and will resume at 10am PT tomorrow morning. UNT is currently up 2-1. Three of the four remaining matches are in third sets, and UNT currently leads the fourth. Mean Green Sports
  6. One of those is a game that we absolutely must win if we want any shot at it, and it is probably the toughest game left on our schedule. We basically need to win out at this point. Denver who is sitting on 1 loss has 5 away and 3 at home counting us. They are likely to lose 2 of those other 4 on the road (UALR, ASU, Troy, and ULL). That would put them on 4 losses, assuming we beat them at home as well. If we hold home court, we can give FAU loss #2 on Thursday. If Denver does what they do at home, they will give FAU loss #3. FAU also has two games with FIU left, which if they split would put FAU on 4 losses. If we won @WKU, they would have 5 losses, and if we don't lose again would be out of the picture. All of that is speculation, probably made no sense, and is highly unlikely to come to fruition, but it made me feel better to get it out.
  7. Believe it or not, with how the schedules are, we are still a contender for the west, and the conference title, we just have to take care of business on our end.
  8. Our chances at the regular season title are not completely dead now that FAU has lost. I can't give up hope quite yet.
  9. Thankfully I don't think it is that bad at this point. If we can just get a bye to Sunday in Hot Springs, we will be ok...at least those are neutral site games.
  10. Well, at least Denver doesn't have any fans, so there won't be a thread started on the SBC message board about how they slayed a giant tonight... Let's hope we get back on track Thursday. FAU may be coming off a loss as well. Go Mean Green.
  11. You guys don't "sweat" UNT because you don't have the balls to play us. You can come back with whatever douchey remark you want, but that is the truth. A post by you over here that actually contributes something is rare. Most of the time you just use them to take backhanded cheap shots at UNT Athletics and/or academics, and worst of all our potential student-athletes. What is the most absurd thing, is SMU people saying what an embarrasment it is for UNT to be letting these kids in to school, and it being a "blackball" for conference realignment. It really just proves the ignorance of you people when we have higher academic standards than several CUSA schools. But hey, you're right. Clearly it is much better to be associated with a hypocritical religious (not a knock on religion, just SMU) school that is famous not for its successes or good deeds, but for its blatantly unethical behavior, and most of all its baffling epidemic of unbridled arrogance.
  12. The men's game will be available on Mean Green Premium...it also says the UALR away game will be available too.
  13. Wow. My brain must be completely turned off. Good point.
  14. If we go 4-0 during this stretch, I almost guarantee we will be at least back within 1 game of the regular season title, and hold the tiebreaker. FAU must play WKU, @UNT, FIU, @DEN. A win tonight would be a huge step toward at least winning the West. Go Mean Green!
  15. These may be wrong, as I just did a quick scan, but it looks like the rankings of Sun Belt teams are: #54 - Florida International #60 - North Texas Thats it. A big win today, and we might pass FIU?
  16. True. It wasn't my lineup that had him on the bench. I don't even try to speculate on such things... I just make spreadsheets...
  17. It does say starting line up at the beginning of 2011, and Mitchell won't be eligible until December...I hope that is why he was put on the bench. Either that or Knox is going to really, really become a beast over the summer.
  18. This could be epic.
  19. Nice Catch. I did indeed forget about Utah. Do you have any idea what our chances are with this guy?
  20. If we play really well the rest of the year, then win the SBC tourney (which is the only way we can get into the NCAA tourney) I wonder if the NCAA would think about bumping us up to a 14 seed so we can play in Tulsa. I know last year there was a lot of talk about the NCAA sometimes moving teams up and down if the location makes more sense. I know that's a long way off though.
  21. I'm sure the talent is there...whether or not it is taken advantage of is another story...as evidenced by losing to ULL.
  22. That's not entirely true...yet. We need to end the year on an 8 game winning streak again, and FAU needs to lose 3 of their last 8: maybe WKU, @UNT, @ Denver, and probably one of their two meetings with FIU. I thought we were done as well, but after looking at the schedules, if we can just take care of business on our end, the NIT bid is not out of the question. EDIT: I did drink a little green kool-aid, but this team is talented enough to do it.
  23. Even something as simple as a 4-5 win season this year will do absolute wonders for our recruiting.
  24. Pittsburgh, Minnesota, North Texas, New Mexico, Houston. Not sure if the order is significant or not, but that is how they are at the top of the page. It says he visited Minnesota earlier this week, and is in Pittsburgh this weekend. This would be a huge pick-up. He has 14 FBS offers, and 1 FCS offer. 4 of the FBS offers are from BCS schools. 25. A 15 seed is much better than a 16 seed, but IF somehow we do get placed as a 16 seed, we may actually want to be in the play in game. That way at least we have a chance to get an "NCAA tournament win," and a chance to get a victory on national TV when no other games are going on. The play-in games do count as tourney wins for some reason. What is important now is that we make the NCAA tournament. We may not get a good seed, but getting there would be a step in the right direction, at least with consistency. We need our name out there even if a little "15" is by it. Once you get there absolutely anything can happen. Go Mean Green! ***1,000th Post***!
