  1. I'm not sure what her life goals are, but she did say "I don't plan on telling another group of girls I'm leaving ever again." Both of her parents were at the press conference as well. It seems like home is very important to her, and it seems like moving closer to home is more important to her than moving up the food chain. Also not sure how important her alma mater is to her, but she is a graduate of UALR, which would be even closer to her family...I'm just thrilled we managed to get her. As far as the team, I think we will see immediate results. They aren't going to win the conference or anything in the first year, but there is some talent on the team, and if we had had any coaching at all this year we could have been middle of the pack SBC.
  2. Is pretty excited about the Karen Aston hire...hopefully it is true.

    1. Harry

      Harry

      makes two of us mate!

  3. I'm in to play! Name: Mean Green Matt Height: 6'1" Weight: Not enough Age: 22 T-shirt Size: Medium Quick and Agile. Zero meat on bones. Looking forward to playing again after a three year absense.
  4. It is costing closer to $80 million actually, adding those chairback bleachers would have cost a hell of a lot more than $10,000, and they did not put as much money into the wing because it's long term status in the stadium with potential expansion is questionable (at least that is what I've heard). I'm not a huge fan of the steel showing either, but at least the actual stands themselves are concrete in the endzone and not metal. It is a strange shape, so bricking the back of it or putting up concrete for a mural would look just as funky. The decision to paint the steel support beams green was a great one.
  5. None taken. However you obvioulsy lack some common sense skills. Fact: UNT right now is a much better basketball program than SMU. Are both programs getting better?...sure. Those players have not stepped on the court yet though, so it doesn't matter for either of us. To illustrate the obvious, let me attempt a sort of "mascot metaphor": UNT: Soaring Eagle SMU: A little girls' gelded mini-horse covered from head to hoof in pink ribbons and glitter.
  6. I am pretty sure that number does not include potential SRO tickets. If the stadium is overflowing, capacity should be somewhere around 31,500, or something like that. Students can be crammed in really tight, and those grassy areas in front of the scoreboard should be able to hold some people as well (if they choose).
  7. Our pitching is very, very young. A freshman, a redshirt freshman, and a sophomore. I have not delved into the stats or anything, but that may have something to do with the inconsistency.
  8. 3rd win over a top 25 opponent this year! (ULL, Baylor, Missouri)
  9. Where is that MizzouTigers guy when you need him...
  10. I should have realized it was going to go there...well played.
  11. I'm going to join before the start of the football season. My parents have both been members for as long as I can remember, but it is time to start racking up some priority points of my own.
  12. Sounds like a cool event. I'll probably try and talk Pike into doing the same sort of thing. It was good meeting you the other night by the way.
  13. Anything could happen...
  14. Did the rules remain as published after you edited the post you published them in.... Just kidding Kram. I'm actually pretty out of shape so you are probably right about the benefits of the running clock for this game.
  15. Maybe I didn't follow recruiting enough during the Dodge era, but it certainly seems to me that Mccarney has immediately raised the level of the recruits we are going after. That is very exciting!
  16. They are going through a slump right now, but have shown they have the capability of playing at a high level. The schedule this year has actually been quite strong. We have two victories over ranked teams, and have played well over 10 games against them (which isn't a good record vs. the top 25, but at least shows we are willing to schedule them and give it all we got). Hopefully they can get on a run here in conference, get a decent seed for the tourney, and do some damage.
  17. I would love for us to start letting other countries solve their problems themselves. My biggest concern is that we have absolutely no clue what Libya is going to look like once we help the rebels overthrow Qaddafi. Whoever takes over may be much better than Qaddafi, but it could also be much, much worse.
  18. I think we should do normal time keeping. If the quarters need to be shortened so be it. What about like 7 or 8 minute quarters with no running clock?
  19. How about Vic Shaeffer at Texas A&M. He was a finalist last time.
  20. Is suddenly excited about NT women's basketball!

  21. I got to talk to Shanice a few times, and she is a very, very nice lady. There was just no sign of life in her basketball team, and they got progressively worse year after year. This move had to be made. I wish her the best wherever she ends up. It is encouraging that we have the money to make the move. It will be interesting to see who we end up going after.
  22. With all due respect, I think it is pretty obvious what his intentions were. Yes, they have a good schedule, but I fail to see any reason to go and post it on someone elses board unless for the purpose of subtle gloating. I think you are being a little too quick to differentiate between UTSA and TSUSM. The only difference is that the TSUSM fans are a tad more realistic and more intelligent than UTSA fans, plus, at least TSU has played football before.
  23. Seriously dude, we don't care. Just like we don't care about the Bobcat Stadium updates that one of the TSU fans posts on our stadium forum.
  24. Most of the stuff they say really doesn't even make sense. Their fan support is going to plummet once they play their first down of football and get the snot beat out of them in their crappy off campus stadium. What we may be dealing with is a future with a smaller, but constant and more potent dose of douchery than even UT is putting out...
  25. TCU experiencing success does not necessarily mean that we will not be. Both can happen at the same time. If we can move up a conference we will be fine. As far as SMU, until they actually show they have some balls, they are insignificant to me.
