  1. I'm just curious if that is what the concrete in front of the stands is for...I'm sure it will look completely different when we are actually sitting in it.
  2. I've gone out for two days in a row to try and measure the distance from the stands to the field at Fouts, but they have had it locked up both days. I love the stadium, but for the life of me I can't figure out why they wouldn't put the stands as close to the field as possible. I know some people think it is for TV cameras, but isn't that what the concrete "walkway" right in front of the stands is for? There is a lot of extra space there. It is what it is. If this is the only complaint, we have a pretty darn good upgrade, considering absolutely everything at Fouts was complaint worthy.
  3. I think you mean eliminates...although illuminates does make sense when talking about a video board...
  4. I think in the end it will be more of a gift than a loan... Last week we let Egypt off the hook for $1 billion.
  5. That doesn't sicken me nearly as much as this: Eureka Times-Standard (5/26/11)
  6. Haha, no prob...the police were definitely keeping an eye on me though.
  7. Yeah...the 50' is from the inside of the left column to the inside of the right column.
  8. The video board is 50' across. They took all the fences down, so I just went out and measured it today. In a different thread, someone seemed to think that the squares they assembled the board frame with were 8' X 8'. That could still be correct, but my measurement turned out at exactly 50'. Lets explore both scenarios. Scenario 1: The sqares are 8' X 8'. The board is 48' X 32' for a total of 1536 sq.ft. That is good for 3rd in Texas, and 2nd in the Sun Belt (if you count the 500 sq.ft. of video advertising space on the new ULM video board). Scenario 2: The board is exactly 50' across. That would make the height of the board 33'4", and the total square footage 1,667. That is good for 3rd in Texas 1st in the SBC. Either way, it is legit.
  9. The aisle seats in 105 were taken about 5 rows down or so...they were middle seats available after the first couple rows...I'm sure a lot of people don't care about the aisles though.
  10. I was thinking the same thing, but I'm not sure if it is some sort of optical illusion or not. The sidelines should be a little bit past where the grass is right now, and then you have the "boxes" on the sideline where the teams stand. I think it will look much closer once all that is in place... The stands would be closer if they had gone straight across instead of curving it. I like the curve though, because when they are straight it makes it much harder to see things on the other end of the field because you are looking at the backs of peoples heads (see K-state). Either way, it is closer than Fouts, but I am literally going to measure both Fouts and the new stadium when its done to see how much closer.
  11. Did the government take over the NCAA or something?... Troy should have to play by the same rules as everyone else.
  12. Key Players: RB Lamar Dunbar...
  13. Great experience during seat selection today, although it can be a little stressful. The aisle seats on boths sides of the 50yd line (sections 206 and 207) are filling up pretty quick. They are my parents seats, so I was just along as a consultant, but we ended up a few rows up on the wingzone side of section 207.
  14. I set out today to find out the true dimensions of the video board during seat selection (actually my parents seat selection, but I did join the MGC to get my first priority points ) While none of the people I asked knew the actually footage for the dimensions, It was reaffirmed that it would be the third biggest in Texas (which means at least 1500 sq. ft.). One staff member did say he though it was somewhere around 40' X 60', which would be much bigger than most of us thought. That would put us at 2400sq.ft (which would be #1 in the SBC by 800sq.ft., and bigger than the new SMU board by nearly 1,000sq.ft.). After the selection I went out onto the deck, and the area in between the pillars appears to be AT LEAST three goal posts wide, and closer to 3.5. This would put the width of the board between 55' and 65'. Sorry for the long post, I just figured I would give an update. EDIT: By the way, the secondary video board in the wingzoe corner actually looks pretty impressive. It doesn't apppear to be much smaller than the video board we currently have at Fouts.
  15. My first thought for "WWDDD" was Darrell Dickey...
  16. I have always thought 2-3 years after the stadium was built we would see a baseball team on the field, but that is nothing more than a guess.
  17. Is that a guess or the real numbers?
  18. After doing some measuring and stuff with digital images, it looks like it will be somewhere around 40' X 20'....still hoping for a little bigger than that though. For perspective, the new video board at ULM will be double that size if those are in fact the dimensions.
  19. I think that's what he meant, not sure though. I'm going to try and find the true answer tomorrow.
  20. Yikes...hopefully that is the height...that thing has got to be more than 30 ft wide.
  21. They sell a lot of actual golf accessories in the bookstore...haven't seen a specific North Texas Golf baseball cap though.
  22. Wikipedia The number was originally posted on the Mean Green Sports facebook page. That number does not include potential standing room...which from what I have heard can be up to a couple thousand.
  23. Texas is way out in front with 7,370 sq.ft. for their "Godzillatron". If we were to passs Texas A&M, we would need 3,955 sq.ft. That is more than double what most people are predicting from looking at the thing. That would be awesome, but I just don't see the space for it in the structure currently being built. EDIT: I would love to be wrong by the way...
