NT V-ball vs. #17 Oklahoma
Mean Green Matt replied to Mean Green Matt's topic in Mean Green Athletics
To be fair, SHSU was undefeated when we played them and is very good. OU is ranked #17, and Cincinnatti is the defending Big East Champion... I don't ever like losses, but it's not like we are playing powder puffs. The teams at this tournament, including SHSU are better than almost all SBC competition we will face. -
Looking at McCarney's turnaround at ISU...

I know...I guess my comment was pretty much the farthest thing from an answer to your question...I was just sayin' after seeing the ISU records from his first five years. -
Realistic expectations come into focus
Mean Green Matt replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree that we need to be realistic, but the bottom bar of expectations should be at least 1 win above the best that Dodge did. I think this coaching staff, even without a high level of talent, should be able to accomplish that. -

I'm not sure I'll make it through another five years of this. With the coaching staff we have and the conference we play in, I'll be disappointed with anything less than 4 wins....which would be more than we have won since 2004, so I think that would be alright. -
They are going to give it their all, but I still don't see them getting into the Big 12 unless some dirty politics happen...which their scummy alumni are unfortunately quite good at.

NT V-ball vs. #17 Oklahoma
Mean Green Matt replied to Mean Green Matt's topic in Mean Green Athletics
OU won 3-0 in front of a pretty full arena (a good contingent of OU fans, but not nearly as many fans as NT). Our team fought hard, but OU was clearly just the better team. Games like this should really benefit us when comference play starts. -
...about to start (11am) at the Mean Green Volleyball Center.

I know I'm technically replying to myself, but it is just so the people who click "last post" have some context. I had mentioned before that the Vball game last night may have kept soccer from beating the attendance record. Obviously, that wasn't the case. I just wanted to also add that vball had an attendance of 400+. So...1700-1800 NT fans were in the Mean Green Village last night cheering on our teams...That is pretty exciting! We used to not even get that for men's basketball.

Oklahoma debating conference options
Mean Green Matt replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm pissed too....but it was ONE GAME. NT will be fine. Look at all the players out there we had with little or NO experience (including the QB which did not help Dunbar at all). I've put this in a couple places, but I still think we get to six wins. Plus, the conferences are going to look at $$$ and no necessarily the strength of the football team. We have a huge alumni base that will start to care if we get into a better conference. -
The previous attendance record of 1246 was broken tonight! Tonight's attendance for the 2-1 NT victory was announced at 1283!
-
Nikki Crocco scored both goals, including the game winning in the 87th minute! The stadium was packed...hopefully it broke the attendance record. The Vball game going on tonight may have kept us just under it though. This was probably in my top 5 North Texas Athletics experiences ever. Just because of the huge crowd and the win.

I'm unemployed...(cries even more).

I completely forgot about that.

This made me laugh out loud....and then cry.

UNT lands Argyle guard Clarke Overlander
Mean Green Matt replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Collin did a lot for us, but if he is willing to turn his back (emotionally at least) on us because of a couple wins in the CIT, then good riddance. -
I take solace in the fact that it is only 1 game...a game that we were supposed to lose. Heck, we could end up going 6-2 in conference if we get our stuff together. If this game had been played later in the year after Thompson (who had what, like 12 plays worth of college experience going into last night) had some time to settle in and get some experience, the game could have been a lot different. It was a disappointing loss, but the competition (in conference at least) is going to be a little easier toward the end. I just hope the students show up this year regardless of what happens.

I think there should be a couple hundred students at the game tonight. We need a great crowd. This is a big one.

I didn't get the feeling that they let up until they put their back ups in. -

OU to jump to PAC-12 Sooner rather than later?

Well, for all I care all the conference crap can hit the fan after we win in Miami tonight! -
Say something mean about Florida!
Mean Green Matt replied to The T Bow's topic in Mean Green Football
Florida....Not Texas. -
I guess I'll throw in my two cents... Generally, I think it is very disrespectful to wear another schools gear on the NT campus. The major exception in my mind is if the person is a graduate of another institution...that does not mean I like it, but I myself would wear NT gear just about anywhere else, including every other college campus I step on, so who am I to judge. With that being said, if I attend a sporting event for a different school (and generally it is with a friend that attended that other institution), as long as NT is not playing, I will either wear neutral colors, or wear a shirt for that school. I don't see the issue with that, and that show of respect can go a long way...in fact, one of my friends from another school moved back to the metroplex recently and has adopted NT as his team. When I read the first post from NTXCOOG, I had the same response (what a tool, etc.) but I do appreciate very much that he supports NT. I do think it would be more appropriate though to wear neutral colors (or green) to events instead of UH gear. Obviously that does not apply for the game against UH, where he should be supporting his alma mater no matter what, as we all would.
