  1. I can only think of one. Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium:
  2. I honestly think that attendance is one of the most important things. Not for the reason of revenue though, but because it is hard to convince others to care about us when it appears that we don't care about ourselves. The people on this board are not the problem, but it should be more motivation to drag as many people into Apogee stadium as possible.
  3. Your premise is likely correct. I was not aware I was making it sound like I disagreed with you. My point was simply that outside aesthetics were more of a priority for us. Not that there is anything wrong with our inside aesthetics, as our stadium is gorgeous. For what it's worth, I think SMU's stadium is a great example of how to cover up a cheap erector set.
  4. Nice crowd for MTSU with 23k+. The game had to be a punch in the gut for them though. I don't know why, but I found myself rooting for WKU. Every game from here on out is winnable guys. We could honestly finish this season anywhere from probably 3-9 to 8-4. The good news that we are due for some breaks. It all starts with sending FAU back to Boca Raton to open their stadium with an 0-5 record.
  5. Fouts Field was ugly. My point is that for image purposes, I don't think the AD saw it as an option whether or not to brick the outside. The FAU stadium probably is not sitting within 100 yards of two interstate highways.
  6. HOME GAME TOMORROW @ 7pm. Please come out and support them if you can! Here is my preview of the game in way more detail than many of you probably care for, but following this team closely is one of my favorite parts of being a NT fan, so here it goes: Friday, Oct. 7, 2011 - 7 p.m. Troy Trojans (7-5-1, 2-2-0 Sun Belt) at North Texas Mean Green (9-3-1, 4-0-0 Sun Belt) Mean Green Soccer Complex (1,000) - Denton, Texas Series History: North Texas leads 7-0-0 Last Meeting: W, 3-1 (10/8/2010) at Troy The Trojans' 7-5 Record is a little deceiving, with their wins coming against inferior competition. If we're being realistic, the likes of Alcorn State, Presbyterian, and Alabama State are not on the same level as even the bottom tier Sun Belt teams. While we are on the subject of bottom tier Sun Belt teams, ULL and ULM are the only common opponents so far this year between Troy and NT. Troy also went 2-0 against the teams, beating ULL 2-0 and ULM 4-0. Both of those games were played at home. Troy has not won outside of the state of Alabama, while NT is 5-0-1 at home, and 7-1-1 in the state of Texas this year. Troy will be dangerous if the team overlooks them, but after last year, I think this team is out to prove something and is not overlooking anyone. Mean Green Matt Prediction: 3-1 NT
  7. With our proximity to 35E and 35W, we really didn't have a choice but to spend money bricking it on the outside. FAU's situation is probably different. Also, I know you get the seats closer to the field if you don't curve them, but after watching a game at Tulsa, I'm SOOOOO glad that ours have a curve to them. We could not see the other end of the field in Tulsa without looking right into the back of the heads of the people in the section next to us.
  8. If you eliminate ECU and UCF, the center of CUSA heads West. I'm pretty sure they are going to pick the right teams for the conference and not just appease Marshall. FIU is probably a no-brainer to replace UCF, but after that, who knows. MTSU does not make a lot of sense, and they do not have a whole lot to offer...nothing more than adding North Texas would. There is also no reason to think that the Big East is done. ECU and UCF get them to 7, which is the minimum for AQ conferences, but I doubt they stay at 7. Both the MWC, and Big East will likely be looking to get into the Dallas market. If SMU goes to the Big East, we will be the replacement. Plus, SMU can't keep us out by themselves.
  9. FAU went for aesthetics on the inside. From the outside it is not very pretty at all...the palm trees help. Overall though, it will be a great stadium for them. We know what it feels like and I am happy for them.
  10. Every stadium is expandable.
  11. Fixed.
  12. Must win game this weekend. Go Mean Green!

  13. That is assuming he wins an appeal for a sixth year because he will be forced to sit out a year if he transfers to another FBS (no hardship, just a quitter). 5 years to play 4 right?
  14. If he goes to another FBS team, he will only have one year of eligibility left correct? 2009-2010 - Played in BCS title game 2010-2011 - Played the whole season 2011-2012 - played this year and got injured 2012-2013 - Sit out due to transfer rules I guess he could apply for a waiver to get a sixth year and would probably win it, but assuming he get the medical redshirt, I only see 1 year of eligibility left.
  15. Getting to 20k will be tough, but I certainly don't think it is impossible. If we are under 20k, we will be no lower than 18k. If we can win against FAU and then in Lafayette, expect 25k+ for homecoming. This would be a great time for those first back to back wins since 2004.
  16. I don't know if it is an option for you, but season tickets are very reasonably priced.
  17. Yes. The Big East is really lacking in the pink polo department.
  18. You know what I meant.
  19. The alumni deserve just as much blame as the students. I am both alumni, and a student, so I am neutral in the argument. We had about 10k students show up for the Houston game, and for them to come back, they need to see something good happening (and by good, I mean wins). It has been soooooo long since we have had a winning team, that Coach Mac going around is not going to get the job done. I'm sorry, but that is just where the program is at. The win against Indiana will help, and I think we will see an equal if not bigger student crowd than showed up for the Indiana game. Winning at home is very, very important. The alumni are just as fickle. As you said, they dropped off as well for the Indiana game, and should share equal blame. The real problem here is the city of Denton, who has never, even during the bowl years supported this team. Instead, the City is catering to OU fans on NT game day. I understand the need for the city to generate revenue, but it is an insult nonetheless. If they would put that kind of effort into promoting NT (other than their generic proclamation every year to wear green on Fridays), maybe things would be a little different. Sorry for the rant. Go Mean Green!
  20. I don't think there will be a "situation" anymore. I've heard (from what I consider reliable, but not guarantees obviously) that Osborn will be the starter if Thompson can't go. Whatever this was, if it was anything at all, should be over.
  21. Hmm...I don't consider Clark Overlander a big man at 6'5"...Plus, Vito said "A couple of big men"...If Pye is committed we have a maximum of 1 scholarship remaining.
  22. FAU 17 NT 34 Big hitting defense returns. Thompson makes a statement in his first game back.
  23. Vito didn't mention Pye in his blog tonight as being part of the recruiting class... Mean Green Blog
  24. A 24 point loss at home to FAU???? They are only marginally better than Indiana, so if it is going to be a blowout, we will be the one dishing out the beating. As mediocre as we have played at times, I've seen nothing that would lead me to believe 34-10 FAU is realistic.
