  1. Does ULM know that Ben Knox is available?
  2. I figured the Rangers game would hurt attendance. I'll be at the soccer game anyway as it will also kill off some of the earlier innings. Anyways, the regular season title is not mythical. It is recognized by the Sun Belt exactly like it is for Basketball, there is just no gauranteed tourney for the regular season winner. Sun Belt Link
  3. I plan on getting the SOW and "North Texas" in the appropriate font as soon as my gf changes her mind and decides it is a brilliant idea.
  4. Here are some links of interest for the game: Mean Green Sports Preview (with video at top of page): MGS Denver Preview: Link Sun Belt Preview: Link Denver has had a nice run against NT in the recent past, but its time we have a big crowd send them back to Denver as the 2nd place team. Go Mean Green!
  5. It's a lot like Basketball where the teams can claim both a Regular Season title, and a tournament title. The only downside is that there is no Women's Soccer "NIT". This is a championship game though. I hope you can make it out. When the stadium is full, these games can be really, really fun.
  6. Yeah, it is going to be an awesome atmosphere. Hopefully it stays warm enough for a big crowd to still come out. On Wednesday or Thursday night, I'll probably start a new thread (like a preview thread or something) so it shows up on the "recent threads" list and gets some extra attention from people that may not venture over to the general athletics forum. This game deserves a dedicated game thread anyway.
  7. The North Texas drumline will be at the game. That should create a great atmosphere, and it also makes this football related.
  8. NT Soccer vs. Denver this Friday here in Denton for all the marbles

No, but we will have 1000+ NT fans even if the Rangers are playing.

  9. I really wasn't expecting this to get moved... Rules are rules, but for a program that has had 17 straight winning seasons and is hosting a Championship game aganist perennnial power Denver, I think this deserves better than to be banished to the "olympic sports" forum. The atmosphere when the stadium is full is unreal, and it is something I would hope every NT fan that can make it will experience on Friday...even if they only read the football board. I wouldn't be surprised if awareness drops by 75% by being over here instead of harmlessly present on the fooball board. Ok, rant over now.
  10. The conference champion is gauranteed a bowl. After that, the individual bowl games get to take their pick of any remaining bowl eligible taems from the Sun Belt. I believe the SBC has two gauranteed bowls, with two other tie-ins contingent upon other conferences not having enough teams eligible.
  11. Mods, move this if you must, but this team deserves to have the word spread about their game even on the football board. Friday @ 7pm at the Soccer Complex, NT will play Denver for the regular season championship, winner take all. These sorts of games do not come around very often, and I personally cannot remember one on this campus since the bowl years for football. We need a huge crowd for this game, so if any of you all can make it, please do. I think this crowd will probably get close to the record attendance (1246) set against SMU ealier this year for a 2-1 victory. Go Mean Green! North Texas vs. Denver Friday, Oct. 28th at 7pm Mean Green Soccer Complex Game Winner wins the SBC Championship. EDIT: Here is a link to the Facebook event - Link to Facebook
  12. This could be part of the problem. I would have rather McCarney said nothing at all than go around saying that we didn't have D1 size, and "it's going to take time" and stuff like that. The players hear that stuff too, and attitude is everything. I'm a firm believer that if a coach says stuff like this over and over again, the players will start to believe it about themselves, and attitude is everything. It is possible to be too realistic. If the Coach says publicly that he thinks it is going to take a while to turn things around, that does not exactly exude confidence (at least in the present) in the players he currently has no matter what he says in the locker room. I do think Mccarney will get things turned around, sometimes I have to do a double-take at some of the things he says though.
  13. I'm not sure if that is the case. If we take care of business at home we finish at a minimum 5-7, I don't see that as a "free" or throw away year, considering that would be two more games than we had won in a single season since 2004. I would see that as a success, especailly considering the youth we have on the field, and the all important offensive line. Even if we lose this weeekend, we have two more chances at getting the road win. At this moment, the easiest of the three actually looks like Troy.
  14. Haha. You seem like a fun guy. Good luck this weekend.
  15. Did that really go over your head? I think it did.
  16. No, by "God" he means a bunch of degenerates named Bubba and their pet alligators.
  17. You have an interesting user name...the Cajun ownage must be evidenced by your 7-8 all time record against North Texas. Pesky facts.
  18. We. Need. Butts. In. Seats.
  19. I was actually expecting Vegas to put out a higher number. This should still give our team some motivation though.
  20. Tulsa > ULL + A lot
  21. #28 is pretty good considering they have not beaten anyone convincingly or nationally significant.
  22. Just because we are playing Lafayette in football this week doesn't mean we need to talk like them.
  23. Sunday results around the conference: NT - USA (Cancelled due to rain) Denver 6-0 Troy MTSU 2-1 FIU ASU 5-0 ULM UALR 1-0 (OT) Louisiana-Lafayette WKU 3-0 FAU I really hope the NT/USA game gets made up, but it does not change a whole lot if everything goes according to plan. We are going to need to beat Denver at home regardless. This set of games takes us past the halfway point. Here is how things are looking (with tiebreakers) just past the halfway mark. Only the top 8 teams make the tournament: 1. Denver (6-0) 2. North Texas (5-0)* 3. Florida International (4-1-1) 4. Middle Tennessee (4-2) 5. Western Kentucky (3-2-1) 6. South Alabama (2-2-1)* T7. Arkansas-Little Rock (3-3) T7. Arkansas State (3-3) -------------------------------- 9. Troy (2-4) 10. FAU (1-4-1) T11. ULL (0-6) T11. ULM (0-6) * Has played 1 less game than all other teams due to inclement weather.
  24. I don't have anything nice to say about their fans.
  25. Not sure. They said, "no make up has been scheduled" but that can mean a couple different things. I'm hoping they clarify. Seeding for the tourney is determined by win % and not overall win/loss record. If the game is not replayed, it does not change the fact that we are going to have to get by Denver to win the conference. I'll post if I see Mean Green Sports clarify that statement anywhere.
