A couple good scoring chances early for NT, including a corner kick that went off the crossbar, but it's still 0-0 about 25 minutes in.

1. Vito is not an employee of the athletic department, so it is not his job to be a cheerleader. Plus, being a cheerleader (at least when "official" people do it) sounds dumb anyways...anyone remember the "NT outgains Tulsa in road loss" headline on Mean Green Sports. 2. Vito is a victim of horrendous football. Someone else said it, but he would not appear so doom and gloom if there was happy stuff to report on, and he would have more to report on if Mccarney (for better or for worse) opened things up a little bit. I don't have a problem with Mccarney being hush-hush, but don't blame that on Vito either. 3. Lastly, considering he posts on this board, isn't this a little awkward... To be clear, I do have my issues with Vito's writing sometimes, but I think it is more a product of the situation than anything.

I think they would be better off. Can you imagine recruiting against TCU (Big 12) and SMU (Big East) if we are still in the SBC. If we take the step up with them, then relatively (at least outside of football), we will be in the same position as we are now.

If we do stay in the Sun Belt, I just hope with everything in me that they add UTSA and Texas State. I think inviting them to join us would do more for us than keeping them down. We NEED Texas schools in our conference. Having this as an SBC west division actually looks really good to me...and other than the "prestige" factor of conference USA, I would rather have these state schools. FIU beats Arkansas State 2-0 in the first game of the day. FIU will play the winner of the next game: Denver vs. South Alabama. North Texas will kick off at 4pm in game 3 of the day.

Why would they do that and leave the DFW market out of their TV deal...They would also lose Florida.

The Sun Belt Soccer tournament starts tomorrow. Here is what the bracket looks like: 1) North Texas 8) Troy 4) Western Kentucky 5) Middle Tennessee (Host) 3) Denver 6) South Alabama 2) Florida International 7) Arkansas State North Texas plays at 4pm CT tomorrow afternoon. I'm buying the tourney pass to watch online, so I'll be posting updates for people who might be interested. NT defeated Troy 4-1 at home earlier this year. The only team in the tournament that NT lost to was FIU (1-0 on the road). We are on the better side of the bracket, but MTSU is always tough at home, and I expect them to get past WKU. Go Mean Green!

Other than the fact that they are mostly white, does anyone have real evidence of racism happening within the Tea Party? I don't really have a dog in the fight, I'm just your average, everyday libertarian, but seriously? If we are comparing the OWS communist/socialist undertones and sometimes overtones with the alleged rampant Tea Party racism, there really is no comparison.

I'm not sure that has a lot of bearing on a team this young. It is quite possible the season could have a rough start, but they are going to see conference play, and the addition of TM as a completely fresh start.

Disclaimer: In no way do I consider myself an expert on the basketball team. These new players should have time to gel and get in the rhythm by the time Sun Belt play starts. I think the addition of Tony Mitchell will only help (and not disrupt), because realistically, they have been playing together all fall at the Rec Center, so it's not like he will be a stranger coming in. I could be completely wrong, but other than a few hiccups, the only team that really worries me in the SBC is WKU, because they have the same sort of recruiting class that will be making the same sort of progress throughout the year that we will.

The best part (in my opinion) is them saying that Pterodactyls cannot see the color green, so wearing green shirts is the only way to truly be safe, and that Pterodactyls are most active on Friday. I think this is freakin brilliant.

Mccarney said multiple times that he was placing a huge emphasis on winning games at home. It really looks like he is doing exactly what he said he would. This team has been underprepared for every road game. I realize that Mcnulty coming in changed both the Tulsa and ASU games, but if Chase Baine could get the job done and put us in a position to win, Mcnulty should sure as heck be able to do the same. We will see what we get against a pretty bad Troy team, when we have two weeks to heal and prepare (and Troy doesn't). Surely the coaching staff realizes that every ounce of emphasis needs to be put on this game, because without it, any hopes of doing something in the postseason are gone. There is no reason we shouldn't expect to win the final two home games. BEAT TROY! EDIT: By the way, forget this 3-4 year turnaround crap. I may be in the minority, but I see no excuse to not hit 6-7 wins and be in a bowl by the end of year 2 at the latest.
