Mean Green Sports: Pykes Peak I think this is what a lot of us were looking for...a comment of some sort. Not mentioning what appears to be a (at least for now) set OOC schedule means that NT is still actively trying to change it. At least that is how I interpret it. There are a couple of other good tidbits in there including upgrading the Super Pit video boards.

Chris Jones is good. Tony Mitchell is also good.

Arkansas State Hires Keith Patterson As DC

How great is this for the Sun Belt?!?! Somebody pinch me. -
Looking to bounce back from the loss at USA. A win would give the ladies a 3-1 start and surpass the conference win total from all of last year. It is nice to have Goldbolt back. Hopefully Blakely (who has been suited up for the last 3 games but hasn't played) will be back in action soon as well.

Auburn RB Michael Dyer to Arkansas State

Unless I'm having an epic brain fart and thinking of someone else, I've read there were disiplinary issues at Auburn that he just wanted to avoid by leaving. But, yay for the sun belt! -
Auburn RB Michael Dyer to Arkansas State

Meh. Getting tired of the drooling over ASU and Lafayette on here. Not denying he is a good player. He is not ending up at ASU just because he wants to though. -

And the Arkansas State circle jerk on this board continues. The kid has issues. Him ending up in nowhere Arkansas is nothing to get worked up about. Oh, and Malzahn can still suck it.- 15 replies

That wasn't the same LSU team...at least mentally.

Three High Schools on Todd Dodge's List

I'd like to see him end up at Flower Mound and start pushing his best players up to NT. -
I love Hogans, and he is a great player. With the current state of the team though, I think him being out for the year would be far from a crushing blow....that is at least what I'm going to tell myself.

Bingo. I think I am most shocked that we are in this position in the first place. 3 away OOC games in the same year should never have even been scheduled in the first place. When fans are writing this off as not a big deal is even more evidence that we have a small time attitude. NT should accept NO LESS than 6 home games, and stick to it no matter what. That's why it is a standard. The buyout for the LSU game cannot be that high for NT, and I guarantee the money is sitting around somewhere. But I forgot how great the ass kicking will be for the good of the program, because hey, we have to play these games to be able to recruit... EDIT: For the record, I'm still holding out hope that we will manage to get a 6th home game next year.

Teburculosis??? You need to raise your criteria for "cool". -
Club seat holders spent tens of thousands, and many regular season ticket holders donate a pretty penny to the Mean Green Club for the ability to buy the best seats. As far as the 2 for 1's resulting in being short a home game. That will only happen if you schedule ALL 2 for 1's. If you do it right, having a 2 for 1 with an AQ team will not effect having 6 home games.
-
It is about having a high standard and sticking to it. 6-games should be the standard, and the bare minimum. I do not care if we play an FCS team every year at home, in fact, I'm 100% fine with it. But if we are going to have only 1 OOC home game, it needs to be an FBS team. ULM gets freaking Baylor at home. Playing less money games will also help attendance and generate revenue. Ever notice how we always seem to have a money game the week before a home game. The last time we opened the season at home was against TCU many, many years ago. Think that hurts a little bit? I could not care any less if we never play a BCS team again. They need us more than we need them. The Athletic Department needs to make a policy that we will enter no contracts with BSC-AQ teams without a return game (2 for 1 would be fine). Who gives an F who it pisses off. We deserve that sort of standard, and frankly, bold action from the Athletic Department. We are scheduling money games 8 years in advance with no return. Look at UTSA, Texas State, and even other Sun Belt Schools. Where is the belief and higher standard from NT? In 2014 we only have 5 home games as well, and a plethora of money games over the next decade. I'm not usually one to get upset like this, but this is a much bigger deal than some are making it.
-
You're kidding right? The current schedule is unacceptable, and if the Athletic Department does not solve the problem come next September, they should be embarrassed. Texas Southern is fine. I like that we are playing an easy game. But that being the only OOC home game is absurd. I don't care if it's effing Buffalo. Just get a another FBS team in here and stop scheduling freaking money games with no return....Period. I'm waiting for the SID people on here to give an explanation, or the Athletic department to at least say they realize there is a problem and are looking at options. If it pisses of LSU or KSU or UH, who cares. What should be done is what is in the best interest of our fanbase and the building of the program. There is still time to fix this, but anyone that thinks it isn't a problem is lying to themsevles.

Ladies looking for the 3-0 start in Sun Belt play. South Alabama was receiving votes in the mid-major top 25 to start the year, but have since dropped off. NT is still receiving votes and should receive a few more after the 2-0 week. Sounds like Godbolt and Blakely will both be back and available to play.
-
That's not exactly a fair argument. The combination of terrible money game scheduling and not performing well is what kills attendance by the time conference play rolls around. Look at Lafayette this year. The only tough game they played was Ok State, and their attendance was awesome. If we go 3-1 in OOC and head into conference play, we would be pushing 30k as well.

Future FB Schedules of All NCAA FBS Schools Link
Mean Green Matt replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
There is no excuse for the crappy scheduling. We have a brand new stadium and we get freaking Texas Southern as our only OOC home game? The Athletic Department needs to hold themsevles to a higher standard, and believe that NT deserves better. I call BS on the exucse that this years schedule is due to getting a good schedule at home last year. Mean Green Club members deserve an explanation as to why we are taking a huge step backwards. There is still time to fix this, and at this point I still have faith that the right moves will be made. If we absolutely cannot back out of LSU or UH, peace out KSU. By the way? WTF is with all of the money games in the future and no return games to Denton? -
Malzahn can suck it. Count me in the crowd that is not drooling over him and frankly doesn't give a crap.
-
Not really.

Wow...it seems super obvious now. I still would have expected the computer to be able to discriminate between the two words.
